As Twilight and Spike exited the portal back into the past, Twilight was quickly pinned down by Starlight Glimmer. Starlight used her magic to freeze spike temporarily.
"This time, you won't return!" Starlight claimed, grabbing Star Swirls spell from Twilight's saddlebag.
"No! Starlight, you can't..." Twilight started, before the time portal opened up again, and Starlight threw her and spike through. Once the portal was closed, she destroyed the spell.
"Good luck finding your way back now Twilight" Starlight muttered to herself triumphantly. She then made her way towards Fluttershy, who once again fell. She pulled on a sweet smile, and walked up to the small filly.
"Do you need some help? I'm sure I can convince those boys over there to help you" Starlight said sweetly, pointing to Hoops and Dumb-Bell. Fluttershy was hesitant to start with, but slowly nodded.
Twilight and Spike once again landed on the map, which still remained. Twilight took in her surroundings, and was taken aback. She was back in the Golden Oak Library! The same library that had been destroyed!
"Uh, Twilight? if the Library is still here, then who owns it?" Spike asked, taking in the old oak smell he got so used to. The library looked just how it looked before it was destroyed. All the same books lined the shelves, even the Daring Do books were in their original place.
"I don't know Spike, but we should get out of here before whoever lives here realizes we're...." The sound of a book dropping, and a gasp, caught the attention of the pair. Standing behind them, was an exact replica of Twilight, her hair tied up in a bun, and large glasses sitting on her nose. The biggest difference though, was the fact that this Twilight was not an alicorn, but a unicorn. She opened her mouth to speak, but quickly faints before she can say anything.
Twilight herself was rather shocked, but quickly ran out of the library and out into the open. Everything looked normal. Ponies were going about their normal days. Nopony was in fear. They were all happy. Twilight couldn't see a single problem. From the distance, Sweet Apple Acres still had it's lush apple tree's. Carousel Boutique was open, with many ponies racing in for the newest fashion. Sugarcube Corner had ponies going in and out for the tasty treats. It looked like any normal day in Ponyville. As much as Twilight wanted to see her friends, she had a feeling they wouldn't even recognize her.
"Who's timeline do you think we're in Twilight?" Spike asked. Twilight just stared in awe. She was surprised to see absolutely no threat. Were they taken to a timeline where the threat had not yet happened? Was everypony mind controlled? Twilight's thought's were cut off when she bumped into somepony: that somepony being Rarity, who had been carrying bags and bags of cloth and silk.
"Oh, terribly sorry darling! I did not see you there!" She exclaimed, picking up her items. Standing behind her, carrying another set of bags with her magic, was Sweetie Belle, no cutie mark on her flank. The cutie mark crusaders mustn't have met in this world Twilight thought. "Wait, aren't you the pony and dragon that live in the library? Twilight, isn't it? I don't see you get out much"
"Oh, um, yes that's me. I was just getting some...... Food, from the market place" Twilight replied, letting out a small laugh.
"Well, I'd love to talk more, but I really must be going, come along Sweetie Belle" Rarity explained, trotting off with her sister.
"So we can't be in our own timeline, Rarity didn't even seem to recognize us as friends!" Spike claimed, slight disappointment in his voice.
"I don't know where we are Spike, but everything looks rather normal, except for the other me.... Let's go and check Canterlot, maybe Princess Celestia in still ruling, and may have some answers" Twilight spread her wings out as Spike hopped on her back. She sprung into the air and headed for Canterlot. I just hope I'm not getting myself into more trouble....
Everything in Canterlot seemed...... different. Nopony was out doors. There was no sign of life outside, though no building seemed abandoned. Twilight landed, and her and Spike silently searched the place. They looked through windows; Nopony appeared. All of the shops were closed. There was not a single pony wandering the streets or sitting and having a drink. It was like a ghost town. Twilight looked worryingly at Spike, who just stared back at her. They both made their way towards the castle: Maybe somepony was there.
No guard stood outside the castle. Nopony wandered the royal garden. It was all too quiet. The further Twilight and Spike walked to the castle, the more they felt like it was a trap. But Twilight had to know what was going on. She opened the main door of the castle, trying to be as quiet as possible. Her hoofsteps and Spikes footsteps echoed through the dark and empty castle. Twilight worried. Where were the princesses? Where was everypony?
She entered the throne room, and all was dark. Curtains draped the windows, and no lights were on. Twilight continued to bump into the wall, Spike clinging onto her tail.
"Who goes there!" A voice demanded from the door they entered in. Twilight knew the voice. She turned around, and gasped to see a familiar yellow pony standing there, glaring.
"Sunset Shimmer?!" Twilight exclaimed. She was happy but confused to see her. Why was Sunset Shimmer in Equestria? What would she be doing here? Sunset Shimmer simply continued to glare. A few dozen guards appeared behind her, standing as still as statues.
"You may call me Your Majesty!" She claimed, as the guards surrounded the two friends. Twilight then noticed the wings on her friends back, and the crown she wore. She then realized where her and Spike were.
They were in Sunset Shimmers timeline.
