Prologue:
Butlers and Sapphires
"One million and three," spoke Scrooge McDuck, as he counted his money... again. It was practically a hobby for him, a pastime, a part-time job. But it was the only thing occupying him, while Huey, Dewey and Louie were visiting their uncle Donald for the week. He can be very lonely when they're away, especially with all this money. It was peaceful, quiet, and the only people who were to bother him (with good intention,) were his loyal butler, DuckWorth, and occasionally, his aviator friend, Launchpad McQuack, but he was visiting his friend in the neighboring city of St. Canard today. Scrooge sighed, and leaned back into his chair.
KNOCK KNOCK!
"Come in," The Scottish duck called to the door, and it opened to reveal DuckWorth. Despite having "duck" in his name, DuckWorth is actually an anthropomorphic dog, wearing a tuxedo of black and grey, with a black bowtie below his chin. He saw Scrooge's face as he walked in.
"Is there something wrong, sir?" He asked, in a concerned voice. "You haven't been in a good mood ever since you turned a big profit, selling the Gizmoduck action figurines to Ducksbro."
"No, nothing's wrong, Duckworth." Scrooge sighed again. "It's just so lonely, with me nephews away. Even counting me money doesn't seem to help cheer me up."
"No need to worry, Mr. McDuck." comforted DuckWorth. "Missing your nephews is perfectly normal. I miss them, as well, sir. Especially cleaning up after them." The two chuckled at DuckWorth's joke.
Scrooge looked up at DuckWorth and smiled. "Thank you, DuckWorth. I really appreciate you cheering me up."
"T'was a pleasure, Mr. McDuck." He beamed. "Can I get you anything? Silver dollar pancakes, maybe?"
"Actually, yes." replied Scrooge McDuck, as his stomach rumbled. "Being lonely can sure make a rich man hungry. Go ahead, and make yourself a few as well. My treat."
"On it, Mr. McDuck!" He walked out, and shut the door. Scrooge turned his chair and saw the entirety of Duckberg. It was a hustling, bustling metropolis, with many shops, hotels and restaurants (which he owns.) He saw beyond the Duckberg bay, as he saw St. Canard, as his pilot was the mayor of the crime-filled city. Then, he saw the crown-jewel of his financial empire: his money bin. He saw the golden dollar sign on the wall of the bin, as it gave a golden glare from the sun. He had everything he'd ever want: his fortune, his life-style, but most importantly, his family and friends.
His fantasy of swimming in his money bin with his friends and family were interrupted as a golden telephone was ringing loudly. Scrooge, then, came to reality and answered the phone, holding it with a clean tissue.
"Hello, McDuck Enterprise?" He cleared his throat as he heard a familiar quack-like voice. It was his nephew, Donald. "Yes... Uh huh.... Really?... For the summer?... That's fantastic! I can hardly wait!" He hung up excitedly, slamming the phone onto it's dial, as he activated the intercom. "DuckWorth?"
The intercom answered. "Yes, Mr. McDuck?"
"The boys will be comin' back for the summer. Prepare a nice big feast to celebrate! And send a limo to pick them up from me nephew, Donald's house." Scrooge smiled, as he took his finger off the intercom and turn his chair to face Duckberg, beaming with joy.
"Yes, Mr. McDuck." DuckWorth's voice responded through the device.
"Aaah," He leaned and placed his hands behind his head. "I can't wait to see me nephews again."
"Thread by thread, stitching it together..."
Rarity was busy singing a sweet tune, as she was tailoring a green tuxedo, requested by a nice, but eccentric stallion. He no longer needed it tailored, for he wore a colorful scarf for Cranky and Matilda's wedding a few weeks ago, but Rarity felt bad, so she offered to do it for free for future weddings or occasions. She finished loosening the sleeves of the suit, as there was a knock on the door.
"Come in!" she called, as the door opened. It was Sapphire Shores, the second-most famous pop star in all of Equestria! (next to Countess Coloratura.) She gave a trademarked smile at the white unicorn, as she walked into the boutique.
"Rarity, my gal!" she hollered. "I haven't seen you since you made that dazzling headpiece!" Rarity did remember that. It was a well-done headdress, but her sister, Sweetie Belle gave the piece a finishing touch; a dolphin, in which happened to be Sapphire's spirit animal.
"Sapphire!" Rarity smiled with excitement. "It has been so long, hasn't it? That was well over a year ago! How have you been?"
"Been great, girl! Now, I'm in a little of a 'fashion' problem, if you catch my drift." The pop pony winked. "The feathers on my headdress are withered and the gems on here are getting... eh... nostalgic. I was wonderin' if you can fix it up for me?" Rarity couldn't turn down a request, especially one from Sapphire Shores.
"Of course, Sapphire!" She smiled. "I'd love to, darling, but I must ask: which gems would you like to replace the old ones?"
"Just the finest, most dazzling gems you could find! I ain't picky!" The pop star turned to the door. "Just make it shine! I'll see you in a week, honey!" She trotted out the door. Rarity shoved aside the green tux, and began to work. This was a tall order, but if she could pull off over one hundred orders of one design, a brand new headdress is like a trot over the bridge.
