Chapters There in Ponyville lay a young colt, outstretched on his bed. "I'm sorry, Button, but war never changes," said his dad in his dreams.
"No...dad, don't leave me! DAAAAAAD!!!!!!" said the young colt in his sleep, waking up from the nightmare. Looks like Princess Luna was busy, with her subjects having nightmares. Button's mom came in, after hearing the screaming.
"Dzień dobry My Colt!" (Although Mrs. Mash was Foalish,she spoke fluent English, but she did speak some Foalish around the house.)
"Ranek, mom..." Buton replied with a feeling of emptiness, with his father not there. But Mrs. Mash could know what he was thinking.
"I miss your father to, Button," she said as she cried with her son, not knowing when Mr. Mash would return. Button calmed himself down a bit and ate breakfast, and every bite of his food, knowing not to waste in war time. And then Button started to school.
"PA Mom!" Button shouted.
"PA son! Don't forget your lunch!" as Mrs. Mash handed here son a brown bag with his name on it.
On Button's way to school, he saw many propaganda posters about the enemy, such as a one with a pair of two evil looking ears with white letters saying: "WATCH WHAT YOU SAY! THE ENEMY COULD HEAR ONE DAY!" There was also a poster that Button felt very emotional about, with a silver pony in an army uniform, pointing to the middle East, and the poster screamed: "THE ENEMY IS OVER THERE! WE NEED EVERYPONY TO HELP US WIN! JOIN THE EQUESTRIAN ARMY TODAY!" Button, seeing this poster thought of his father, and ran so he couldn't hear the reminiscencents of his dad there.
Finally, Button made it to school. And he saw he wasn't the only one depressed about this war, as many of his usually cheerful classmates were now angry at Celestia, sad about this situation, and some were even crying.
Mrs. Cherilee walked in. Most thought she was about to end the sorrow, but she only contributed more sorrow THAN the whole class. "cla...ss, this, this, is General Megaflair." The teacher sighed. (I really felt sorry for her, and when she passed away, I carried her soul lightly to a special pony she would've liked when she was alive.)
General Megaflair marched in to the classroom, with no hesitation. This grey stallion had an Equestrian army coat on, with dozens of medals.
"Alright Students!" he shouted, from obvious Horseshoe camp training. (I remember that he HATED Horseshoe camp, and cried to go home many days, but eventually made it.) "Now as you know wete at war with Saddle Arabia, and they are taking over many countries as we speak. And they're threatening good ol' Equestria."
Button raised his hoof.
"Now, as the Equestrian army fights on in The middle East, we need to play a major part by rationing," he said.
The general handed out a black book. A ration book.
"Now, to sustain the war effort, you must ration your food. Give these to your parents so you can eat, and we can win," the General said lightly. As he marched out, most of the class just sat there, wondering if this war was necessary.
As Button walked home, he couldn't feel anything but bad. His dad was off in a war that had nothing to do with Equestria. What was he even doing? Would he make it? Would the enemy win? Was the enemy an actually an enemy? Button didn't know.
Oh, Button doesn't know about his father, but I know about the war, for I was there, collecting the ones drafted, having to fight. As the fighting happened, I was collecting the casualties. Citizens, soldiers, young and old, the animals, and a lot of people.

Chapter 2: On the Front Lines
Button's father was on Team B. They went from Coltifornia, to Applestralia. Team A went to Northern Africa. (That team was supposed to do well, but half of them died from heat, dehydration, or starvation, and two-thirds that remained died when they were attacked by PCPE Soldiers, or zebras, and buffalo that believed they were attacking. The rest were prisoners. Button's father was lucky to defend in Applestralia. There was a lot of civil unrest in Applestalia though, but Mr. Mash was good at that situation. His division stayed there for a long time, just sitting by the coast. Until the assault happened on the Northern territory. Not only were the Equestrian soldiers ill-prepared, but I was too. I remember hearing the attack and all: machine guns blaring on both sides, landing crafts doors opening, the sounds of rifles firing, tanks launching their shells at one another, flamethrowers blazing. Mr. Mash grabbed his personal machine gun, and a Colt to back him up, and his trusty knife. He ran around the corner, and lay at the left flank, covered by sandbags.
"Mash!" A fellow soldier yelled to him, "The Sarge wants you to move up and take out the enemies at the middle of the beach!" Buttons father moved with no hesitation, hearing the screams of both PCPE soldiers, and Equestrian soldiers. He started aiming by machine gun, and caught the enemies by surprise also. He shuddered when he heard the screams of the stallion, only for me to take the stallion. Mr. Mash continued firing, but the enemy was quicker, but two stallions were injured. And Button's dad had to retreat to the forest.
It was dangerous for any pony to enter the forest, especially with some PCPE soldiers trained in the art of forest combat. The Equestrian soldiers were activating phase two in case of an attack, and phase one failed. Applestralians, Coltigans, and Stallions from even the UKP were fighting now, and the enemy counter attacked. When the men thought everything was over, they returned to base, with battleships now protecting, and air defense. I remember this attack, and I thought I was done after taking the casualties. Then the PCPE paratroopered in, but this time, the Allies were prepared for the PCPE. The Allies thought that it would would be easy, but it was a tough fight. (The paratroopers were highly trained, and they made work for me harder.) It was a hard fight, but the allies just barely won that fight. As I walked around, collecting the bodies of the fallen. The PCPE were determined to take the Northern territory, but the allies were launching an attack on Fillynesia, the group of islands right by Applestarlia, and Marelaysia. The allies from Coltupe, South Equestria, And Equestria were ready to take back the islands.
The fight started at 242 hours, a random time, to throw off the enemy. Buttons Dad was in his landing craft, Which was rocking around, bucking soldiers off, and I was to collect some, the others were saved. The troops loaded out, Buttons dad in the middle. Then the blood shed started. In Java, I go there to vacation, but I went there to work instead. Buttons father continued the plan, he would flank right because he landed on the left. He heard the gun boat's artillery firing, destroying defenses. He set the slope, as he laid downed. He crawled and crawled to the HQ, ducking the barb wire, troops, and Guns. He and a young Stallion made it to the HQ, the stallion was to carry the bombs of the first pony to carry the bombs was killed. "Ok, ready kid?" asked Mr. Mash. "Yes Sir." said the 19 year old Stallion. Buttons Dad was 35, but was able to fight, because he joined the army at 19 to. The two stallions planted bombs by the HQ of the PCPE in Fillynisia. The the bomb was about to blow up when Buttons Dad and the young stallion ran, but the young soldier fell in a pothole, and it was too late for Mr. Mash to save him. He sat there, watching the bomb explode, the fiery radius cover the HQ, but the Stallion was blown to smithereens. Mr. Mash looked at his fallen soldier, blown to bits by his own weapon. (That Stallion that was 19? I knew him. He had a fillyfriend who was saddened by her coltfriends gruesome demise.) Mr. Mash sat on the now conquered beach, by the remains of his ally, and sighed. This war had taken a toll on all countries.
"Hey Mash, we're going to bury these soldiers... remains," said a brown unicorn.
"Alright, I'll get up," Mr Mash replied. Not only he was sick of the war, but I was also sick of that war. Having to take many souls of stallions, young and old, and innocent citizens of invaded countries.
Weeks later, the newspaper reported the success. But, the newspaper was incredibly slow, because by then, all the Bottom Islands were secure. At Button's home, the young colt and his Mother were both happy to hear that he made it out of the fight alive, but we're also saddened hearing about the other soldiers that died fighting for freedom.
"Mom, is it ok if I go over to the CMC clubhouse?" Button asked his mom.
"It's ok button, but be home by 7, I don't want you to be alone during the blackouts," she said.
" Ok Mom!" the energetic colt yelled.
"Say hi to your friends, and your Fillyfriend, Sweetie Belle!" his mom teased.
Button sighed and left his house, to see more War related posters. About 1 month in war, and the Allies take only ONE ISLAND? Button thought. Oh well, as he trotted to the CMC clubhouse. As he thought about if any Filly other than his mom loved him. (It turned out Sweetie Belle loved him all the time. They later had 2 kids, but i'm getting ahead of myself.) As he made it to the club house, he entered in and greeted the Fillies, "hey" as he walked in.
"Oh...hey Button," Sweetie Bell said as she blushed.
Scootaloo sighed as she said, "Get a room you two," and it made Sweetie Belle blush even more. But Button wasn't caring about what Scootaloo said. He was just going to ask if they were affected by the war too. They all were. Applebloom had to work more; Scootaloo was to train in the Wonder Bolts when she was older; and Sweetie not only lost her Dad, who fought in North Africa, and was captured, but Rarity had to sew army uniforms, and only left her room to deliver her coats, or go to the bathroom. They all sat in the clubhouse, with propaganda posters about the enemy on the clubhouse walls. They wanted the war to end, for life to be normal. When suddenly, a loud crash was heard outside, and the yelling of ponies.
"What was that?" Button wondered aloud.
"Well lets go check whatever the hay that was!" Applebloom said. The three fillys and the colt went out to check, to only see...

Chapter 3: A peaceful Victory?
The chaos outside was the Ambasador from Rusheigh! Everypony at that time in Equestria was wondering why he was here. Button and the CMC were trying to get a better view when an Earth pony with aviators and a suit stepped by, speaking in a Rusheighn accent.
"Sorry kids, but Ambassador is speaking to Mayor here on important buissenes. Now, run along, it will be on television," said the bulky guard as he shoved the four young ponies off.
Button ran back with the CMC. "Mom! Turn the TV on! The Rusheigen ambassador's in Ponyville!" Button's mom turned on the TV with no hesitation.
"Citizens of Equestria," The Ambasador said. "Mother Rusheigh is forced by PCPE to join, or citizens die. We decide to join Equestrian forces and say we're sorry. We must launch a big attack on PCPE. But we won't say plan on TV. We will win war! We will destroy PCPE!" as the TV went to another broadcast about Berry season is dangerous or something. As the allied nations drew closer to victory, and Fillynesia now under control when Ruheigh joined, defeat was upon the PCPE. And victory was coming to Equestria and their Allies.
Not only Rusheigh joining the Equestrian allies was good, there was also another good thing that I'll explain now. When Button had walked Applebloom and Scootaloo home, Button and Sweetie were together, but nopony was watching Sweetie asked,"Hey Button?"
"Yeah?" Button said, then Sweetie Belle did it. She wrapped her arms around Button, and kissed him, her lips not leaving Buttons lips for minutes. While that happened, Button had many questions in his mind.
"OHMYGOSHWHYDIDSWEETIEBELLEDOTHATIMEANWE'REFRIENDSBUTTHATSCRAZYHASSHELIKEDMYALLTHISTIME???????" Button wondered.
Sweetie Belle was thinking if Button liked her or not, and if this was a good idea to do.
The next day, the CMC were all giggling about Sweetie's stunt last night. Although they were just talking about Button. And at this time, the war became a phony war, with blood not shed at this time, and soldiers not fighting for about two straight weeks!
The citizens though, were becoming angrier by day, and Button saw what the war had turned ponies into. Six days after Rusheigh's announcement, Button was outside, playing, when he saw two young stallions hanging out. The first one was a green unicorn, with a messy brown mane, that probably hadn't been brushed for weeks. The other stallion was a maroon pegasus, with dark brown hair, and had a gaming cutie mark, while the other had a clapper-board cutie mark.( Those two had a gaming chanel called B and M gaming. It was a sucsess.) Then, a short brown Earth Pony walked up to them. He was wearing formal army-wear. They talked for a few minutes, and the brown one pulled out a paper and pointed to both of them. The green unicorn got very angry, and punched the brown pony in the nose. The brown one's nose started to bleed, and the stallions ran away, the soldier after them. Button walked to the crumpled ball of paper to see what it said. "Dear Blazing Shores. We have checked your record, and the army has drafted you into an army operation. Your talents as a unicorn will be extraordinarily helpful in this operation. A transport will arrive tommorow, so be ready, signed, PDB (Ponyville Draft Board). When Button saw this, he knew the war was taking a bad turn.
The operation was ready. Weeks of training for this, and the war will end if this happens. One month after Rusheigh declared an alliance, and the PRC was destroyed in five weeks. The soldiers were marching to end the war, and I was marching with the soldiers, too. The soldiers ran to the base, to fight the Saddle Arabian dictator, and to end the ruling of the PCPE. The attack started. Soldiers were running on the lines, firing there guns for one last time. The PCPE soldiers knew that that they had to fight to the death, no backing out. The guns were blazing the field, and PCPE soldiers were dropping like flies. I was taking all the bodies as the allies moved up to the base. They broke into the base, and went down the hallway, looking for the PCPE leader. Then the soldiers entered through the door. They saw the dictator, then one soldier did it, took out the dictator. With one bullet, I was there to get the dirty stallion's soul. And I enjoyed spitting on his soul. The allies had done it, PCPE was no more. All the soldiers celebrated. Too bad they didn't see that suicidal Pony in the back, who shot Mr. Mash as he dropped over.
Button heard a knock at the door, to be greeted by an army general. He told Button and his mom about the incident, and that Mr. Mash would spend some time in the hospital to heal, and it would take a long time for him to fully recover. Four weeks after the war ended, Mr. Mash saw his son for the last time, alive. He died three days after his son's last visit, because the bullet that paralyzed him made him fall into a coma. I remember taking Mr. Mash from his pain and suffering. I lightly carried his soul, so he could see his wife, son, and his friends one last time, at his funeral. Although he was dead, he comforted Button, his now fatherless son, when he heard about his dad's demise. I sat there, watching Button's father comfort him from beyond the grave.

Button later went on to become a politician in Ponyville, with a cutie mark in debate. He maried Sweetie Belle and had two kids. Button became Mayor, then Representative of Ponyville, and even President of Equestria. He lived a good life, that kid. Sweetie Belle passed away on April 5, and I took her to her father who died in the war in those blasted POW camps. Button dealt with a lot of stress after his wife's death, but died five years later from a heart attack. Button was always remembered in Equestrian history. He pulled Equestria's flank out of two wars that weren't that important (one about oil, and one about cheese). He always remembered how his father died in war, and he made Equestria peaceful. When he died, I took his soul to a collection of memories. "What is this place?" he asked me. "Why, these are your memories, thoughts, dreams, and goals. I always collect them for anypony who passes." I showed Button one more thing. It was a door that Button opened. It was his old home, with everything like he remembered. He saw the ponies that mattered to him most that passed away: his mom, Sweetie Belle, his pets. Then came the most important one to him, his father, just like he remembered seeing him before he left for war. "Hello, Son," his dad said. Button and his dad embraced. They spent hours talking, Button catching his dad up on his life after the war. When I saw them last, they were sitting on a bench together, sharing the joys of father-son bonding. I remember when Button asked his dad if he'd leave him in heaven ever, and Mr. Mash replied by saying, "No Son, I'll never leave you." That thing he said made me feel bad for taking his soul. I am haunted by that for eternity...

The Prologue
Why, hello there. I am death. Now, don't be afraid, I am going to tell you a story. Now, this is a special story, it's about a colt. A very special one at times, and a brave one.
Button, was born in Horsesaw, Foaland. His mother was a Foalish citizen, and his father was a Ponyville citizen, stationed in Horsesaw, by Celestia to help stop the riots. ( The Foland government was doing nothing about the crisises in the middle East, so a lot of citizens were mad.)
Anyway, the two met and fell in love. Two years after that, they were married. Three years after that, Button was born. (He had a younger brother, but his brother didn't have dual citizenship, like Button.) And, although Button and his father were together, war creeps up on normal people, and can only be fed by one thing: blood. I, on the other hand, am humble, and don't appreciate all these wars and deaths in said wars. Button and his mom were deeply sadened, and wished I, Death, never caught his father. And this is where our story begins...
The middle East conflict was the beginning of the war. And when the leaders of Saddle Arabia were exposed for not helping the poor, the riots started. And the two leaders were executed by guillotine. With the leaders of the monarchy executed, a stallion by the name of Gardesh ruled supreme. When Saddle Arabia became bankrupt, Gardesh decided to take over its neighboring countries. His troops took a lot of land, all the way to Maneilla, The Phillypines. And made an alliance with PRC ( Ponies Republic of China), the country with the biggest population. And they became the PCPE ( Ponies Communist Party of the East.) Celistia saw the PCPE as a threat to Equestria. She met with the CU, ( Coltapian Union) to debate about the issue. The CU was deciding against it, with Greldincee in anarchy with a lack of money, and Germaneigh unwilling to help them because they only joined the CU due to a purposeful accounting error. The UKP (United Kingdom of Ponies) was in favor of an attack, as were Foaland, the Baltic states, and the western Coltapian countries. Many citizens in Mareis favored war, along with citizens in Main, Potugeld, and Filtaly. With war upon them, the PCPE made a deal with the biggest country, Rushiegh, in Mainscow. And in a few short months, the PCPE were ready to invade Applestralia, and all of the deserts land of Africa and Oceania. Equestria was ready to fight.
