Shattered Hopes: Prologue

Greetings… My name is Cloud Burst, a pegasus fighter for the Equestrian military. I have white fur, blue mane and blue eyes, your completely average looking pegasus mare. And this, is, our story of how well, the hopes of one pony where shattered completely.

Equestria has been at war with the crystal empire for over twenty years now… Sadly ponies have died trying to halt King Sombra in his efforts to conquer all of Equestria, and many more will likely die as well just trying to stop a fruitless cause. Technologies have improved dramatically since the war started so, at least there’s that right? Recently Sombra hasn't been seen on the battlefield for months, or in other words the moment I was recruited to fight. I had been told Sombra would normally fight amongst his minions against Celestia and the rest of us, but that seemed to be a lie.

That is, until I was called upon for my first day of fending off the Crystal Empire. I came in contact with a living, breathing, unkillable, Shadow. Well that's what he was called until I found out what his name actually was. And believe me, his name is nothing to get hyped about, it was actually a bit of a let down honestly.
