A large white pony walked in the stormy night and stopped. He lifted his head and looked at the castle that was shaped like a tree. This was where the princess of friendship, Twilight Sparkle, lived. And ponyville is not that far, Eon thought. He pulled the black cloak over his head and continued walking. He opened the door to the castle and shook the rain out of his pelt. His long grey mane and tail dragged across the floor as Eon silently walked across the hall and his sky blue eyes glowed dimly in the darkness. He stood at the door of the throne room and sniffed the air. He couldn't smell anyone nearby so he opened the door and trotted to the map. It showed all of Equestria except for one place- Eon's home village. He wasn't surprised by this because the village had been destroyed centuries ago when Eon was a little foal. His mother had given him to a kirin to raise before she was killed and Eon was the only one of his kind left to survive. Eon turned away from the map and sat on one of the chairs. He lied his head on the arm of the chair and closed his eyes. It had been a tiring day and he needed some rest for tomorrow- well, later actually.
Twilight awoke and rose from her bed and streatched. Her mane was a mess so she combed her hair and brushed her teeth. Spike was still asleep when Twilight had finished. "Spike, wake up," the purple alicorn said prodding the baby dragon with a hoof. Spike blinked and mumbled sleepily, "What is Twilight?"
"We to go see Rarity today remember?" Twilight reminded him.
"Oh yeah," Spike said as he got out of bed and rubbed his eyes.
"Can you go get something from the throne room? I think I left a book on the map the other day," Twilight asked.
"Sure thing Twi," her number one assistant said as he ran to the throne room. Twilight walked over to the mirror to make sure she forgot to brush something. After that, she walked outside to find Spike running up to her. "Twilight! I found a pony sleeping on your throne," he said. "Show me Spike," Twilight said and the two began walking briskly to the throne room. Spike was right. A white unicorn with a crooked horn was asleep on Twilight's throne. "I wonder who that pony is," Twilight whispered. The unicorn opened it's eyes and looked at the princess.
"I do apologize Twilight Sparkle. I didn't think you would mind," he said as he stood up and streatched. His mane and tail fell to the floor with a small flop sound.
"It's alright. What's your name?" Twilight asked.
"Eon," the unicorn replied. Twilight nodded and said, "Would you like to stay for breakfast? There's plenty for both of us." Eon smiled and replied, "Thank you, Princess. I appreciate your offer." As the two ponies and dragon walked to the kitchen, Twilight caught a glimps of movement under Eon's cloak. Could it be wings?
"Eon?"
"Hm?"
"Do you...have wings?"
Eon was silent for a moment before saying, "No, it's just my companion Cheibey." He used his magic to lift his cloak and a white cat-like creature opened it's blue eyes and streatched.
"Oh, we're here already? I thought it would take ages to reach ponyville!" Cheibey said as she leaped onto the floor without making a sound.
"Wait, you can talk!?" Spike asked in shock.
"It's telepathy. I'm sooo hungry! Where's the food around here?" Cheibey asked as she twitched her long whiskers.
"Show some respect Cheibey. This is a princess you are speaking to," Eon scolded.
"Sorry, Princess Twilight Sparkle. I didn't mean to be rude," Cheibey apologized and lowered her head.
Twilight smiled and said, "It's alright. I'm hungry too. How about we all have breakfast together?" Eon flicked his ear and said, "I don't eat that much." Twilight looked at him in surprise.
"Seriously? Why not?" she asked.
"...it's just a habit," Eon replied.
"Well, if you say so," Spike said with a shrugg. Hmm, this pony's strange. Maybe I'll ask him a few questions about himself later on, Twilight thought to herself.
After breakfast, Twilight decided to go to Rarity's house.
"Hey, do you want to meet my friends? I'm going to one of them right now," she told Eon.
"It'd be a pleasure to meet them," Eon said with a nod.
"Well come on! We're gonna be late!" Spike said as he ran out of the castle with Cheibey running swiftly beside him. Twilight chuckled and galloped after him. "Spike, wait up!" she neighed. She stopped and panted heavily when she reached ponyville and looked up. Eon looked back at her in amusement and asked, "Are you alright?" Twilight nodded and walked over to him. "Yeah, just tired. Over there is Rarity's home," she said as she pointed to a large fashion store. The two ponies entered the building to see Spike introducing Cheibey to Rarity. "And that's Eon," he said pointing to the white unicorn.
"Why, you're as tall as Princess Celestia! I've never seen any other pony as tall as you!" Rarity gasped.
"That's a good thing...Right?" Eon asked.
"Oh yes! In fact, Princess Celestia asked me to make a gown for her and you're the perfect model!" Rarity said happily.
"Well this is gonna be interesting," Cheibey said.
Eon actully enjoyed his stay at Rarity's house. "See. I told you it wouldn't be so bad," he told the alien cat as they walked with Twilight, Rarity and Spike to Sugar Cube Corners. "Why are you always right? I thought you lost your future sight ability," Cheibey mewed.
"Future sight ability?" Rarity echoed. "What in Equestria is that?"
"Eon could see into the future a long time ago. But he lost that ability while fighting off Xanna," Cheibey explained.
"Xanna? I've never read about him," Twilight said.
"That's because he was banished a million years ago before Celestia and Luna were born. Now that I think about it, wasn't that the time when you were born Eon?" Cheibey asked. Eon didn't respond. His blue eyes glowed and the unicorn lifted his head as his tail twitched. He leaped back just as a cyan pegasus came flying towards them and landed on the ground. "Hey Twi and Rarity!" she said as she flicked her rainbow mane. "Rainbow Dash! Don't scare us like that!" Twilight said.
"Sorry," the pegasus said and then turned to look at Eon. "Uh, who's this?" she asked.
"This is Eon. He'll be staying with us for a while," Rarity said. Rainbow Dash tilted her head and looked at the colt curiously. Eon's horn had a resemblance to King Sombra's and his pupils were like Nightmare Moon's. "Ya sure he's safe? He kinda reminds me of Sombra and Nightmare Moon."
"I will not hurt you as long as you don't betray or decieve me," Eon said.
"You didn't tell me there was a new pony in town!" Pinkie Pie said as she and two other ponies came. She took out her party cannon.
"Girls, this is Eon. Eon, this is Pinkie Pie, Applejack, and Fluttershy," Twilight introduced.
"Ah, yes. The Elements of Harmony," Eon murmured. "I've heard much about you."
"I haven't had the chance to ask but, where were you born?" Twilight asked.
"You won't find it on the map. It was destroyed a very long time ago," Eon said.
"Can you show us the ruins if there are any? I'd like to see it," Twilight asked.
"Very well then. It's been a long time since I've been there anyways," Eon replied and led the way out of ponyville.
Twilight gasped in amazement. A large city had been burnt and crumbled to dust which, by the looks of it, had lived for over 700 years. "This is where you lived?" the purple alicorn asked gazing up at a large building which had vines growing on it. Eon nodded and looked at the entrance arch. Twilight could make out the words "Home of the Celestial Ponies" on it. "Celestial ponies? Ah've never heard of anythin' like it," Applejack said. "That is because they became extinct many years ago. I am the only one of their kind left," Eon explained.
"Why were they called Celestial Ponies?" Spike asked.
"Some say that they came from the stars and were given the task of creating the Elements of both nature and harmony. They were also said to have unique powers that no pony possess," Eon said as he walked around in the ancient city which he once called home.
"How old are you?" Twilight asked him.
"..300 years."
"You're kidding right?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"No, I'm telling the truth," Eon said.
"But, how is that even possible? Only alicorns are supposed to live longer than anypony," Fluttershy said.
"Celestial ponies can live as long as any alicorn as long as they still have karmic energy," Eon explained.
Twilight then began to wonder something. "Eon?" she asked.
"Hmm?"
"What's your cutie mark?"
"It's best if I shouldn't show you," he said.
"Why not? Is it a secret?" Pinkie asked as she bounced towards.
"Yes, and I don't like giving too much personal information away. A cutie mark's use are not only to show one's talent," Eon said as he walked over a boulder and into a house that still had some gold to it. He recognized this place as he walked deeper into the house. It was his home. Although everything was broken and disordered, it still looked like home to the celestial unicorn. Eon caught a glimpse of movement from the back of the city. Curious but cautiously, the unicorn walked over to the creature to get a better look at it. It hadthe body of a lizard and wings of an eagle. Its head had horns on it with yellow eyes. "Well, if it isn't Eon," it said with a smile. "Zhen," Eon murmured and bowed respectively. Zhen chuckled and said, "There's no need for bowing. That time is long gone and a new era has begun."
"Yes, and with a new era comes new allies," Eon said as he watched the mane six explore the ruins.
"Enemies as well. Both old and new," Zhen warned.
"I don't quite understand."
"My good friend," the creature said as she sat up. "Xanna has returned and is plotting Equestria's destruction. If any of the Elements of Harmony or even the princesses find out about what you really are and why you're here than you will be in great danger."
"What if Celestia or Luna find out that a Celestial pony is still alive? What will I do then?" Eon asked. But Zhen turned invisible and said nothing because Twilight was walking towards them. "I think I have all the information I need," she said. "Is it alright if I ask you a few questions when we get home?" There was a moment of silence until Eon said, "Yes, that is fine. Now, we must be getting back. I fear that if we stay for too long something might come and think that we are prey." And with that the purple alicorn called to her friends to head home as Eon said "farewell" to Zhen. As the group headed home, Eon felt a dreadful feeling inside. It was the kind of feeling you get when you know you did something wrong and you can't go back in time to fix it. Fluttershy seemed to notice this and asked him quietly, "Is something wrong?"
"I'm fine," Eon muttered.
