Chapter one: The Bird of Inspiration.(Rainbow Dash)

Rainbow Dash was by no means a romantic woman (I have to say that or she'll hold me down until I pee myself in public) However in her twenty-three  years she had periodically fallen in love with a few select people.

Fluttershy was one of those people.

There was just something about her the way she looked, The way she moved, The way she spoke, The way she smiled, Her eyes. Oh gosh, she would get lost in those eyes.It was more than just looks too.The warmth of her kindness, The bliss of her embrace, Her goodness, Dash could go on for hours and she often did. Much to the chagrin of her loyal tortoise, Tank.

How and when had  she come to realize she had fallen in  love with her? Only the gods knew.

Rainbow, however, was keenly aware of two facts: She was hopelessly stuck on  her childhood friend and there was nothing she could do about it.

She had already confirmed with her egghead friend Twilight Sparkle  that, surprisingly there was no known cure for love.

There was only one solution; she had to get together with Fluttershy. The question was; how?

Rainbow pondered this as her energy jet wings summoned from the sapphire on her back, spat prismatic fire propelling her through the clouds.

Unable to fully focus on flying with fuzzy thoughts swirling in her head Rainbow banished her wings into her gem and perched on a cumulus hill.

She stared up into the endless blue and white world of the sky.

In the heavens above her birds, beasts and other Nebulae glided through the clouds. Derpy buzzed around on her yellow helicopter wings,

Cloud Kicker raced  while Blossom Forth and Trail Blazer cheered them on.

Thunder lane watched  Intently as bikini-clad  Flitter and  Cloud Chaser played a game of tornado ball(dash rolled her eyes at that).

Rumble approached Scootaloo on her air scooter with a Bouquet of wind flowers behind his back (aww)

And Bulk Biceps had gotten into a flexing contest with her father while Snow Belle watched.

”Wait, what ?”

Rainbow Dash rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn’t seeing things.

Sure enough, it was indeed none other than her father mired in a contest of masculinity with Ponyville's resident workout nut, Bulk Biceps.

Summoning her wings, Dash went in for a closer look.

Coatl Coil was many things.A husband, A father, A soldier an athlete, Criminally sexy. One thing he was not was a quitter.If this pasty, blonde punk thought he was gonna be intimidated he had another thing coming.Although he had to admit he had respectable muscles.

He stared down his opponent as he struck another pose.He pointed to the left with one arm and flexed the other, letting out his fearsome battle cry

“YEEEEAAAAAHHH!!!!!”

The blue-eyed  woman with the fleecy, white hair and the blue sundress(His fiancee) clapped supportively as she sat on the cloud next to them

“Oh-HO!” so that's the game is it ?”Coil said while preparing for another pose

“Well, Phillamo*(friend )  prepare to taste the  wrath of…"

“Papa,?”

Coil turned his head to the familiar, raspy voice.

His face lit up immediately.

“Anya!”* (Affectionate Sol'tempest term meaning daughter)

Dash reeled backwards as three hundred pounds of bodybuilder tackled her with a hug.

“Papa, quas seru nebes ehs?” Dash choked out as her father's hug crushed her.

“Why , I’m here to visit my favorite daughter  Coil said as he smiled through his tricolor blue, purple and green beard.Dash` rolled her eyes.

“Papa, I’m your only daughter,"

Teke!*”(Exactly)  Coil said and ruffled her short, choppy hair.

Meanwhile, a few yards away Bulk Biceps and Snow Belle  were  Both very confused.

Bulk turned to Snow Belle.

Does this mean I win?

He signed to his deaf  Fiancee.

Snow Belle shrugged

I dunno.

She signed back.

Must be the intermission.

Meanwhile, below them, Coil had let go of Rainbow Dash and was floating in front of her with his hands on his hips as Dash frantically fixed her hair back how she liked it.

“Ugh, please, don't don’t do that  again,”In the midst of her irritation a thought occurred, she quickly looked around for more familiar faces before focusing back on her father.

“Hey is Mama Here? What about Blaze?”

Coil’s smile shrank a little.

“Your mother's in town “securing the area,” But your fresso* (Brother ) couldn't make it. He says the Vanhoover weather team has him booked until next month at the earliest,”

Dash was a little disappointed at this but she hid it well.She loved her parents But she missed her brother too. he always seemed so busy nowadays.

“Well, next time you see him tell him I-…Papa, what are you doing?”

Coil was squinting his eyes at dash and inching ever closer until he stopped just  a few inches from her face His emerald green eyes bored into her soul, even the gem on her back grew cold.

“Oh no,"she thought “He’s going to find out that….”

All at once Coil sprung back his eyes opened wide and his face erupted into an open mouth smile.

“You like someone!!!” Coal yelled.

Dash instantly cringed.She looked around A few people were flying by and staring at them.

“Tartaron, Papa!”(Dammit, dad!)  Dash hissed.  “Announce it to the whole stratosphere why don't ya?!?”

Coil laughed heartily “Hahaha! You can't hide anything from your father, So is it a boy or a girl this time?”

Dash sighed in defeat.How did he always know?

“A girl, her name is Fluttershy,”

“Nebulae?”

“Mmhm,” Dash confirmed. “Northern I think,”

Coatl smiled.“So lemme guess,” He said confidently “You wish to learn the secrets of courtship from the master?”

This, of course, was never Dash’s intention as her father's help was quite often less helpful and more mortifying but she had long ago realized that she was not the romantic type, Having never even kissed anyone.

She hadn't an inkling of how to win Fluttershy’s affections and was desperate.

she took the leap.

“Papa, how did you get Mama to date you?”

Coil smiled.”Well, lemme tell ya, believe it or not, it wasn’t with THESE!!!”

He flexed his biceps again.

Dash groaned and people wondered why she was so messed up.

"Indeed, It takes more than mere flesh and bone to win the affections of  una aniva vaene*(a lovely lady) one mustn't be afraid to embrace their sensitive side!”

Dash groaned, again.why did love have to be so mushy?

Coatl looked back at his daughter. “To convince your mother to date me I sang a love song for her,”

Dash looked up through her hands Really What song?

Coatl smiled “Les Sonovana Cantira ,“(the love ballad of the canary)

Needless to say, Rainbow was not pleased with her father's answer.She managed to keep her cool while she was in Ponyville though if that

said anything about her maturity. Once she was a decent ways away from town, however, the temper tantrum commenced.

“AUGGHH!!” Rainbow screamed as she kicked a rock across the swimming hole. Her face burning with both anger and mortification.

“It's not a terrible idea,” she thought to herself.

“Yes,  It is! D’you think if I were good at all this lovey dovey crap I wouldn’t try it?”

“C’mon you've known her forever.She won’t make fun of you. I don't think she even knows how to make fun of people! It’ll be just you and her what have you got to lose ?”

My dignity, My sanity, FLUTTERSHY!”

“A’YE!* (YEAH!)  That shut you up didn't it?! “

“…..Zalca* (Bitch),”

“WHO THE  HELL ARE YO-....’the fuck am I doing?”

“Throwing a physical and mental temper tantrum instead of fixing your problem,”

Rainbow Dash paused and sighed in exasperation.

“How did Twilight get in here?,”

“Shut the fuck up and sing the song! “

Rainbow could practically feel herself mentally surrendering.

“Fine, dammit but not……..that one,”

Rainbow looked over the crystal clear water of the swimming hole.Swans drifted over the waves,

Dragonflies buzzed around her head spitting jets of blue fire at each other, Frogs chirped in the grass.

the calm scenery relaxed her, gave her clarity.

“That was my father’s song,” she thought.

It was there and then that Rainbow knew what she had to do…Sort of she had to find someone first

Princess Twilight Sparkle made a habit of keeping the inner sanctum of her castle quiet.

It was a serene, special place where people with issues concerning friendship could come and receive advice in a safe, calm, and controlled  environment.

Which is why the ascended Altarian woman was so royally torqued  off that a familiar raspy voice was echoing through all the rooms of her castle.

”Excuse me Diamond Tiara,” Twilight said witheringly, “I think that’s for me,”

“Uh, sure Princess,”  The young Jotun girl said as Twilight left the room, Her eyes and the purple garnet on her forehead  flashing with arcane fury.

How many times was she going to have to tell Rainbow Dash to frigging Knock, before she branded it on her frontal lobe with spellfire?!

Just because she was always welcome at the castle didn’t mean it was her house!

Twilight would never just burst right into that fancy cloud mansion of hers.

Well, Okay there was that one time when Rainbow was depressed because Tank was going into hiber-

THAT WASN’T THE POINT!!!

“The point is; Rainbow Dash has no regard for the rules of my home!”

Exactly! she-...  oh she-she’s taking over again. Okay, I’ll just , uh. I’ll just get back to what I was doing before.

Twilight continued to fume as she rounded the corner and entered the throne room

“Raiiinbooow DAAAASH!!!!” Twilight growled through gritted teeth.

How many times do we have to-”Twilight stopped short

Rainbow Dash was leaning against her throne,and she was Panting. As if she was tired from running.

In all of her time knowing her Twilight had never known Rainbow Dash to have even broken a sweat. Nevermind Hyperventilate.

And she had this ...look in her eye. Panicked ,desperate it was as if she had seen her grandmother’s ghost and it had asked her to avenge her death.

Maybe Twilight had been reading too many novels.

The room was silent for a few seconds save for the sound of Rainbow breathing heavily through her nose.

“N-Need  help,” Rainbow wheezed.

“Didn't know who else to ask. Mom’s too good at hiding, A.J would probably laugh at me, Rarity would start squealing, Pinkie Pie-,”

Rainbow shuddered.

“Whoa! , okay Rainbow Dash okay,” Twilight walked over to her and placed her hand on her shoulder.

“Let’s just Calm Down.What’s going on?”

Rainbow steeled her nerves and Looked her friend in the eye.

“Twilight, I need you to help me write a love song For Fluttershy”
