A Musician Lost And A Crime Lord Born
My name is Octavia melody and I am a crime lord.
This is the story of how I became the boss of the biggest crime family in all of equestria. Our technical name is melody but on the streets were known as 'The Notes' family.
Oh where to start? I guess we should start from the very beginning.
*29 years ago at canterlot hospital*
"Come on honey your almost there just one more push."
"AHHhhhhh...."
"Congrats Mr. and Mrs.melody it's a girl."
He cleaned me up and put me in my mothers arms. My mother was exhausted but was so filled with joy she didn't care.
"What should we name her ?"
"How about Octavia."
"Octavia. I like it."
I slightly opened my eyes while still crying a bit.
"Hello Octavia. I'm your mother Mary"
"And I'm your father Fredrick."
"Can you say mama?"
The doctor giggled a bit "I'm afraid it's going to be a while before she can speak."
"A mother can dream can't she ?"
The doctor then took me to the nursing ward.
Meanwhile in the middle of the night my mother was resting peacefully in the hospital bed. Then the door open slightly and a unknown person wearing a black cloak covering it's whole body except it's face but was wearing a black gas mask to cover it up. The unknown assailant walked in the room very quietly and took the pillow from behind my mother while she slept.
"I'm sorry Mary it's just business."
The assailant then pressed the pillow on my mother's face and Mary woke up and tried to struggle and get the pillow off from suffocating her. She fought her very hardest but in the end she wasn't strong enough and let a arm dangle from the bed as the assailant made sure she was dead.
My father was devastated the next morning to find her wife was murdered. They managed to get the criminal on camera but the only footage was of the assailant doing the job. My father took me home as soon he got the chance. He was determined not to lose her daughter as well.
*6 1/2 years later my birth and mother's death*
I was practicing my cello was my father watched. I recently got my cutie mark a few weeks ago while in music class playing a cello like this one my father bought me. I was very good at playing it too. It was the only thing I ever wanted to do. Right then I was playing a piece from Beethoven and my father was very proud at my skill. I then finished my piece and my father was clapping a cheering.
"Very good Octavia. Another great performance."
"Thanks daddy can I play some more."
"Sorry sweetie but it's almost time to leave."
"Aww come on daddy just one more song please please pleeeeeeeeease."
"Sorry sweetie but don't you forget we're leaving to go to your first sleep over in a few minutes remember?"
"Oh right I forgot I'll go get my backpack."
"Alright sweetie I'll meet you in the car."
I then hugged him and put my cello up in my closet, picked up my backpack, got in the car with my dad and we drove off. My dad was a lawyer famous for putting dirty cops in prison because they kept abusing there power. Of course I had no idea what that meant at the time. We drove out of the suburban neighborhood and decided to take detour to my friends house through what looked like a forest.
About half way there we were pulled over by 2 police officers the first one was a muscular earth anthro with red fur and a black mane and had the stereotypical cop sunglasses. The 2nd was a skinny Pegasus anthro and with dark grey fur and light blue mane. The big red anthro came up to the window on my dads side of the car and he pulled down the car window.
"Is there a problem officers?"
The big red anthro spoke first. "Yes I'm going to have to ask you to step out of the car sir."
My father looked confused. "Uh don't you need to ask for my-"
The big red anthro didn't look happy. "Sir. Step. Out. Of. The. Car!"
He did as he was told. "Look I know I've been getting the police department worried but just bec-"
The big red anthro then pulled out his night stick and hit my dads face.
"DADDY !"
He knocked him out and continue to beat him.
"How do you you like this you bitch. You should have learned to stay out of our business!"
After a few minutes of beating he then pulled out his pistol and shot a few rounds into my dads skull as I watch.
"DADDY !!!"
After that I then found the unlock button on the car and went to my dad crying and trying to wake him up
"Daddy ? Daddy please wake up. Daddy !! Please wake up please wake up DADDY!!!!!"
I then hug his dead body and crying all over it. The big red anthro then pointed the gun to the back of my head and the other cop pushed it away.
"Wow wow she just child"
"She also a witness and we can't afford that."
"But come on isn't this stepping over the line even for us."
"I don't take chances."
He then put the gun back to my head and as I held my dad I felt something for the first time. Something that I have used as a very useful tool in my times. Rage. Bloodthirsty Rage. I then turned back and knocked the gun from his hand and picks it up when it lands on the ground. Both cops looked surprised and shocked when I pointed the gun at them.
"YOU HURT MY DADDY AND NOW YOUR GOING TO PAY!!!"
The big red anthro spoke "listen here you little brat give me back my gun or you will be in a world of hurt and maybe I'll-"
I think pulled the trigger and shot the skinny anthro in the head. His body fell back and the other cop was terrified at what I just did. I then point my gun to the red anthro.
"Wait ! Wait ! Wait ! Uh Can't we talk about this ?"
"YOU HURT MY DADDY AND I'M GOING TO HURT YOU!!!"
"Please I'm begging you please let me live. Please show mercy."
"I don't know what that means but I don't care say night night monster."
He got down on his knees and begged for his life and crying like brat. I pulled trigger then emptied the whole clip into him but he was still alive but was struggling as he bleeding out and chocking I his own blood.
"That is what you get you monster !!!"
He died after few minutes of suffering. And I loved every second that monster was suffer. I then spend the next 6 hours hugging my father's dead body until the real authorities arrived and took me to a hospital. My friends parents probably got worried how I never showed up and probably called the cops when I never showed up. After they put the bodies away they took me to a hospital. I refused to talk to anyone whole time. After that day I vowed never to trust a cop again.
That was how my innocence died and that the birth of the monster known as Octavia melody.

After the police asked me questions, or at least tried I haven't spoken a word since they found me. I was in a integration room of sorts with 2 way window in the wall and I was sitting in on chair with cool metal table in front of me and a light above me. Then a male earth anthro that dark grey fur and completely black mane. He was wearing a very expensive looking suit and he sat down in the chair on the other side of the table and had a neutral expression on his face.
“Hello Octavia my name is Sharp Note. Don't worry we are completely alone right now.”
I raised my eyebrow in confusion. “Let's just say everyone has their price. Anyway I understand that your mom died a long time ago around the time of your birth. Well the truth is she was murdered too. Suffocated by pillow by a masked murderer.”
I tried to hold back my tears the best I could but he knew I was in pain and kept going.
“Then your father was killed right in front of you as you watched. Then you took the murderous cop’s gun and used it to kill both of them. You have lived a very hard life. Always helpless to stop fate from ruining your life.”
The floodgates opened as cried heavily on the desk. “It's true. I wasn't strong enough to protect dad or my mom. It's my fault. Their both dead because of me. I wish there was something I could have done.”
He kept the same neutral expression. “Well that's why I'm here. We can't change the past but I can help save your future. I'm not going to lie the world is very cruel place. If not even the police can help them who? But sometimes to in order to make your life better you need to take it in your own hands.”
I then slowly started calming down and looked at him still crying but softly. “I can make you stronger. Make you smarter. Make you unstoppable. I want you to join my Family ‘The Notes’. So what do you say.
I stop crying. “Will you keep me safe?”
“Until the end.” he vowed.
I thought about it for a long moment.
“When do we start ?”
---Present day---
Rain pattered softly against the windows of Octavia’s limousine blurring her view of the Canterlot streetlights rushing past her window in a hypnotic spectrum of bright colors. A reflex shiver passed through her body and she pulled the comforting warmth of her coat tighter around herself. For as long as Octavia could remember she had hated the sound and presence of rain. During her foalhood, her father would comfort and protect her through a storm with the soft and graceful music of his violin, the beautiful music always helped her feel less cold, alone and scared. She turned her gaze away from the window shivering once again.
“Is everything alright, Miss Melody?” Vanilla Rose, her personal assistant and very close friend looked at her with concern.
“You seem... Distracted. Perhaps it would be best if we canceled our dinner plans with the Manhetten representatives.”
A small amused smile tugged at the corners of Octavia’s lips and she met the concerned gaze of her companion.
“Rose darling, I am sure everything will be completely fine.”
Octavia ignored Vanilla Rose ruffling her feathers in a clear sign of expressing her agitation about the situation they were putting themselves in. Rose had always been the more cautious one in their partnership, but ever since their failed mission in fillydelphia she could only think about what there was to lose, and could never focus on what there was to gain. Octavia lit a cigarette and took in a long puff.
“I know you’re worried about me, Rose. I am also worried, but if we succeed tonight, we will have greatly weakened our Manehatten rivals, and at the same time sent a clear message that any attempt to take over the streets of Canterlot will not be tolerated.”
Rose sighed unhappily and looked down at her hands. “Very well Miss Melody. If it is your wish to continue through with your mission then, I will be with you.”
Octavia held out her hand to the pegasus. “Until the end?”
Vanilla Rose tightly grasped Octavia’s hand and gazed intently into her eyes.
“Until the end,” she vowed.
For several moments Octavia held onto Rose’s hand. Despite the reassurances she had given her partner in crime Octavia was terrified. In just a few minutes she would be pulling up to her favourite restaurant where there were more than likely going to be many hit-ponies of the Manehatten crime family disguised as waiter of diners all just waiting for the signal to blow her to hell and back. But despite the dangers, Rose was still with her and they would get through this mission together like they always had done.
Rose gave Octavia’s hand a quick jerk forward and pulled her into a soft but sincere hug. Her immaculate white fur smelled like shampoo and perfume. Rose’s wings unfurled and Octavia found herself surrounded by soft warm feathers. “Just promise me you’ll get out of there alive, Octavia. I can’t stand the thought of losing another friend.”
Octavia held her friend tighter, taking comfort from the pegasus’s embrace. “I promise Rose.” They pulled back and Octavia smoothed out the wrinkles in her otherwise immaculate black dress. Have all the necessary precautions and countermeasures been placed in the correct locations?”
“Yes, Miss Melody. Table twenty three has been booked for your meal, and I’ve personally made sure that there are two silenced handguns within your reach. The table itself has been modified so you can use it as emergency cover from oppositional gunfire, but please don’t rely on it too much. I also recommend you use emergency extraction number three should things get too out of hand. I’ve placed a small amount of explosives in the power box of the building, and sent the detonation code to your phone. I’ll be covering you with sniper fire from a nearby building. Your getaway car has been placed in the back parking lot and has your usual arsenal of a RPG with several spare rockets, two AK-47s with additional clips, two more nine millimeter glocks, a dozen hand grenades and several napalm molotov cocktails ready for use. Once the bullets start flying I suggest you get to it as soon as possible.”
Octavia was about to thank her companion when the driver’s voice came through the intercom for the backseat. “We are pulling up to your destination now, Miss Octavia.” She took several deep breaths trying to calm her suddenly racing heart. In just a few minutes she would be intentionally walking into a trap set up by the second most powerful crime family in Equestria. Her only backup be Rose in a sniping position to pick off the gangsters from a distance. Her only hope of surviving this would be getting to her arsenal in the getaway car. She just had to get through a restaurant full of gangsters determined to kill her.
Once the limousine had rolled to a stop outside a red carpet leading into the restaurant’s front door
both mares exited the warmth of the limo’s interior and shivered when they stepped into the cold rainy air of an autumn night. Octavia felt envious of Rose’s wings which were no doubt doing a good job at keeping the pegasus warm and dry.
Before she walked into the restaurant she gave Rose a reassuring smile and tucked a loose piece of her red and pink mane behind her ear. “Try not to worry about me too much, darling, I’ve never gotten myself into a situation I haven’t been able to get out of. Especially with you watching my back.”
Rose gave her hand a quick nuzzle. “Just remember you promised to get out of there alive. I expect you to keep it.”
“Of course I will, Rose. Now you need to go set up before our guests arrive.”
Vanilla Rose waited until Octavia had was walking to the restaurant before pulling a large case from the limo’s trunk, and making her way to the roof top of the building she had chosen for her sniper’s nest.
