The story starts with the era of the gods. They create the mortals and eventually madness gets to Chaos's lead creation Discord. With the loss of all he's know Discord must be stopped by the Alicorns. Then it jumps forward to Twilight Sparkle and her destiny. She is the one who will bring about a new age. She is the first of many, and for now the only Dragon Rider.
