130 years earlier... “So did you hear who the father was,” “I think it was some mortal race called an earth pony”

“such a shame someone of such high standing fell for someone so low.”

“At least he will be raised as a proper fey and not as some mortal mud dweller.”

“Will he even live long enough to…”  A large figure steps through the brush.

“You to do know I can hear you right?” A tall centaur like creature with a large belly says.

“Oh priestess Oalkfly I’m sorry I didn’t mean any…”

“I think you two need to go and practice your potions and stay out of other's business if I was an Useel you two would be in big trouble for spying.” The pregnant mare says holding her stomach gently.

“Yes Ma’am” the eavesdroppers say before rushing off. “Don’t worry child I’ll make sure you will lead a happy life.”

10 years later… “Ok Barren now what are the three rules of the Seel Fey?” says a centaur like creature with a light brown coat pale green skin and dark green hair and tail. “One promote growth wherever you may go two use violence only as a last resort and three… three is...” A young pony with a darker brown coat and light green mane stutters nibbling on his hoof nervously. “And three during the cooler times it’s the Unseel’s turn to reign.” The mare finishes she kneels to her sons eye level. “Barrenvine you know you have to have these memorized before you can begin your role placement.”

She sighs, “Come on now let’s work on your magic ok?” She points to a rose bud. “Now let’s try something simple make that bloom”

“Yes Miss Beemfly./!” the colt answers standing up.

“You are my son; you may call me Mom you know that dear.” She states getting up as the young colt scrunches his face in concentration facing the rose, at first nothing happens and in fact nothing does for a few minutes. Right when Beemfly is about to tell him to stop thorns begin to sprout from the petals of the rose before it withers and falls.

“Daw! I’ll never get it! I’m just not good enough.” Barren huffs crossing his front hooves. “You just need practice just wait and see one day you will be making forests in no time.”

“But I’m different Mom I don’t even have any plants. I’m no dryad! I ain’t even fey just a forest covered tiny horse.” He states with a huff. His mother strokes his mane as she looks at the sun. “Come dear let’s get some rest and I assure you will turn out to be a great dryad you just need time to grow that’s all.”  She soothes leading him to a bed of moss. “We can start again tomorrow for now it's bed time.”
