//-------------------------------------------------------// Nightmare Night -by born_an_angel- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Story of Nightmare Night //-------------------------------------------------------// The Story of Nightmare Night I’ll tell you a story you might never believe The tale of Nightmare Night, on this dark autumn eve What really once happened that cold winter night Why the ponies all scream and run in cold fright There once were two sisters who ruled over the land From the frozen northern reaches to the southern desert sands The eldest used her powers to raise the sun every morn The youngest raised the moon, which only brought her scorn Their subjects were the ponies who played in the light Unicorns, Earth Ponies, Pegasi not one cared for the night The youngest sister, Luna, became bitter and defied- Why should nopony have admired her night sky? The Sister of the Sun Celestia was her name, Calmed her sister’s heart, but it was never quite the same Luna’s heart had darkened, a mere shadow of her moon Her visage turned to a Nightmare; her very heart was strewn Princess Celestia knew what had happened to her But who would ever want to kill their own little sister? She did as she must, though, and sent Luna to the sky But after the deed was done, the Sun could only cry She felt it was her own fault her sister had been exiled However, her faithful subjects only could laugh and smile The Princess they so hated had been sent far away Now they could once again come to the light and play Nightmare never forgave in that darkened, lasting age Her love was locked away in some hidden, hated cage When she finally returned, Nightmare’s subjects feared again They knew the time of peace they’d known had come to an end The Elements of Harmony came together to rise They stripped the hurt and anger from Nightmare Moon’s eyes She became Princess Luna soft, pure and bright No longer angry at the ponies who still shunned her night Nightmare’s Shadow still lingered, though, in Princess Luna’s form The Moon was quick to anger; her eyes stirred up a storm The ponies still fear her to this very day Never did they accept the Princess who once had gone astray They feared the Nightmare that had stripped Equestria of all light So much, in fact, they honored her with the famous Nightmare Night The truth has now been twisted, distorted, and grown small The ponies speak only of the dreadful Nightmare’s fall The ponies think that if they hide themselves every year They’ll never fall to the fangs of their very greatest fear But listen to what I ask is this so hard to comprehend? Take a minute to look at the sky Luna works so hard to mend Happy Nightmare Night
