Mandrel attends Celestias school for gifted Unicorns. But unlike most of his classmates, he finds to enjoyment in the lessons he's trying to be taught. Everything is average, everything follows a routine, and nothing is ever changing. Mandrel founds himself to be bored by the world itself, and fears to never break this never ending circle, this eternal routine. But when Discord breaks free and releases his powers, turning Equestria into a place where Chaos and Disharmony reign, one pony finds himself to be amazed rather than terrified.
