Chapter One: Shock and Disbelief

"Sometimes it's better to not mess with the wrong ponies, you know, the ones who overpower you."

"I'm sorry! No, please don't make me leave!"

She enveloped me in a levitation spell and threw me outside the orphanage, I landed hard on my behind and pain crept up my spine, the gloomy clouds in the night sky poured water soaking me in mere seconds.

"You are to never return, do you understand?"

She glared at me her eyes filled with hatred and regret.

"Please, I won't do it again, I promise!"

I pleaded with the old yellow coloured mare, but she ceased to show any signs of forgiveness, I stared at the entrance of the large brick building as the other colts and fillies crowded around her, staring at me with kind innocent eyes, I knew they didn't want me to leave, even after what I did.

"Your promises are as good as broken! If you are to ever return you will be beat to death by my own stubborn hooves, do you hear me?!"

She was in fact quite strong, meaning she had a great advantage on me, and her stubbornness did not help my situation.

"I hear you..." I mumbled, trying desperately to hold down my tears.

"What? I can't hear you!"

Her mane shook as she yelled.

"I said, I HEAR YOU!"

I screamed at the top of my lungs, the streets were empty of any ponies, they were either in their cozy homes or at a friend's cozy home I assumed.

"Good!"

She was just about to close the door when a high-pitched female voice yelled,

"Wait!"

The old pony stared in disbelief at the young filly, a colt standing by her side as they pushed through the crowd of young ponies, they both faced her and glared into her eyes, I couldn't believe it, Petals and Hopper were confronting the most scariest mare we had ever met, and what shocked me even more, they were confronting her for me, me of all ponies!

"What is the meaning of this?!" She said, her eyes wide.

"If Cloudy's leaving, then so are we!"

She dramatically stomped her hoof, okay, now I was shocked, why were they doing this?

"Fair deal."

With a single nudge she pushed the two out of the orphanage and they landed the same painful way as I did, she slammed the door making a loud banging noise, her red magic faded from the door knobs, I dashed up to the doors to try to open them but just as I thought, they were locked, I slowly trotted down the stairs and sat on my haunches at the bottom, grieving my decisions, I looked over to Petals and Hopper, they had tears in their eyes and they were both looking at the concrete ground, stained a darker shade from the rain that was making us shiver.

"Why did you do that? I just flooded all the toilets so that nopony would be able to dump inside the orphanage for a long time, and you just... you just..." I sighed in frustration.

Why did I always have to be at a loss for words?

"Cloudy-" Petals started.

"Don't call me Cloudy!" I snapped and glared at her.

Her facial expression told me she was hurt by me snapping at her like that, Hopper kept staring at the ground.

"I'm sorry... what do you want me to call you then?"

"Sky."

"Okay."

"Now tell me, why did you make that stupid decision!" I said my voice slightly escalating.

"Because we care about you, Sky!" Yelled Hopper, startling me a little.

I tried to think of what to say, I wasn't used to ponies caring about me, I heard a distant rumbling sound miles away and little flashes of light brightened the entire sky for a few moments.

"But why? I'm just a bully." Was all I could manage.

"Maybe... but we see potential in you, we know you can be a better pony." Said Petals.

She tried to wrap her fore hooves around me in an attempt to comfort me but I quickly pushed her away, my pale green mane covering half my face.

"Don't hug me! What're you a foal?!"

I glared at her hoping to make her feel uncomfortable but both her and Hopper glared back at me with disappointed looks in their eyes.

"Not a hugging pony are you?" Asked Hopper.

"No I'm not! And you should've known that already!"

"Who says we didn't?" Said Petals, a small smirk formed across her face.

I rolled my eyes and stared at the threatening clouds, I thought about what life would be like in the big city, living in Manehattan and all.

"Where are we gonna go?" Petals said, looking down, brushing her hooves against the ground.

"Wha-we?! There is no "we"! There is only me! You two can gallop around like little pixie-ponies pretending everything's all sunshine and rainbows, while I go out into the real world and search for productive things to do!"

I stomped my hoof in frustration, I was now standing.

"Suit yourself," Petals said casually, "at least I won't be alone."

She did have a point, if I was alone it would be harder for me to survive out here, what if I got into a fight, or encountered a dragon?

I pondered my options for a few minutes, as much as Petals was right, I didn't want to let her know that she was right, but by pondering this she probably already knows, so I guess I should just let them follow me around.

"Fine, we'll stick together." I said frowning.

The orange earth pony had her smirk return once again and I felt another feeling of anger mixed with embarrassment.

"Okay, let's go! We didn't get kicked out to sit here and get beaten in the morning!" Exclaimed Hopper, I could tell he was getting impatient with us, the brown coloured unicorn rolled his eyes.

We all sat up and turned to the right, as we were walking down the trail I looked up to the windows of the orphanage for the last time and noticed the majority of the fillies and colts were crowded by multiple windows watching us, one sweet little filly even waved to me, I quickly looked away and noticed I was falling behind, I trotted faster and caught up.
