Ruled by alien equinoid princesses with direct kinetic power over their system's celestial bodies, but rich in magically-powerful mineral wealth, the world of Equestria quickly became the target of every major power capable of bypassing its extraplanetary defenses. Forced by circumstances to militarize, the "ponies" learned all they could of the Inner Sphere and its distant enemies "the Clans", developing new technologies, new magic, and new battle doctrines into a seamless whole.
