After Luna's banishment to the moon, Celestia couldn't help but to feel guilty, responsible for the disappearance of her sister. Her loneliness and guilty were enough to drive her into exploring forbidden ways to revert the events. The experiments failed, but at a cost still. Celestia was able to keep them at bay, but more than a thousand years later, these threats are back, and with no sing of Celestia, it's up to Luna to restore Equestria to her old look. Receiving a letter from Celestia herself, Luna starts to make her way to the Darkest Dungeon.

The Alternate Universe tag is for the fact the story passes during a time where Twilight's Treehouse wasn't destroyed, but she is still seen as an important figure in Equestria.
