Plundering the Crystal

Depression.

It was all young Kiara Star had.

Kiara was an alicorn, but not a princess. She could never get those voices out of her head.

"Crownless freak!"

"Reject!"

"I bet you stole those wings you loser!"

Kiara was born an alicorn, but she never became a princess due to connection issues. She was always alone since she was abandoned by her parents when she was a foal. She managed to get into school without telling anypony she was homeless, but when she said she wasn't royalty, they teased her for not being a princess. She eventually quit school and studied in an alleyway near Canterlot Carousel with books she borrowed from the library.

But today, everything would change...

It was a normal day in the streets of Canterlot. Kiara was at her part time job at Pony Joe's making money for something to eat. After her shift before she went home, Pony Joe called her for a minute.

"Miss Kiara, I've called you here today for a little news."

Kiara ears twitched as Pony Joe handed her papers. As she read, her ears were lowered. She got fired.

"What did I do wrong?!"

"You keep coming to work smelling like sewage and you always fall asleep in the mop bucket. This is just unacceptable. Maybe you can wash up your act and find another job. It should be that hard."

"YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HARD MY LIFE IS, YOU BITCH!!!"

Kiara then stormed out of the shop, angry sobs pouring from her face. As she reached the alley she grabbed a trash bag and violently threw it against the wall.

"STUPID FREAKING BITCH!"

She kept throwing trash at the wall as she sweared loudly.

Then a rustle from the fence in the back caught her eye. Kiara set the trash down and trotted toward the fence. She saw a light purple pony with a black mane behind it. She also had black and blue jewelry and very strange looking eyes.

"Hello?"

The pony then turned around, revealing herself to be an alicorn.

"What do you want?!" The pony asked.

"What are you doing back there? They don't let random ponies past those fences."

"I needed to find somepony."

"Who are you looking for?"

"Does the name Kiara Star ring a bell to you?"

Kiara froze. Her eyes widened.

"I'm Kiara...."

The pony's eyes widened.

"I've been looking for you for days!"

"What do you want from me?"

"First let me introduce myself. I'm Twivine Sparkle, twin of Twilight Sparkle."

Twivine then grabbed something out of her black cape. A scroll.

"Me and a unicorn named Trixie need your help to defeat the Empire."

"I thought the Empire was already defeated."

"It was, until Shadow Wolf came."

"Who's Shadow Wolf?"

"King Sombra's son."
