A Dream Land, Now Reality
Life of a Human in Equestria
Boredom, the feeling that gnaws at the back of my skull constantly, an inescapable feeling, but I had to live with it none the less. Go to school, first period, enjoyed talking to one of the only bronies in my school, Brett, next period more unfathomable boredom, lunch surrounded by people who dislike me for being a brony for no good reason, art, like tech in my first period a class with a brony to tie along with a class that I thoroughly enjoyed, McKenna helped pass the time, then finally off to math for, you guessed it, mind splitting boredom.
Like all bronies I wished and hoped that I could go to Equestria and meet the characters that I have grown so attached to, Honest Applejack, Loyal Rainbow Dash, Kind Fluttershy, Generous Rarity, Laugh filled Pinkie Pie and the one who seemed to have the most common with me, the Magical Twilight Sparkle. Oh how I wanted to go to Equestria and see the wonders of said pony filled universe, but alas it is a dream unreachable for your average 17 year old, in high school, letting each day pass by slowly.
My only consolation was the Bronies I got to talk to every night over Skype, my nice friends who were beyond the boundaries of great distance. Brett being the only one I talked to on Skype who I knew in person gave me some happiness when at school, but other than that, I sat at home every day hoping something would happen. I guess you should be careful what you wish for shouldn’t you??
The next day I came home from school, it was 2:50pm by the time I walked in the front door and was greeted by my mother like always, “Hi Myles sweetie, how was your day at school?” She would ask while watching TV next to our happy little wiener dog.
I would respond with my usual, “Same old same old, math’s too easy, com tech is great, art is fun and biology was a waste of a course as usual.” I walk over to the couch to pet my dog as he greeted me, tail wagging and eyes begging for attention. “Hi Rocky, how are you buddy!?!?” I said trying to keep him happy. “I’m going upstairs for a bit, I need a nap, and I didn’t get too much sleep last night.”
“Alright, I’ll wake you for dinner.” My mom said, happy as usual. She is a great mom, she does so much for us and I really appreciate it, but I still wish I could leave this entire world behind and go to my dream land.
Off I headed upstairs into my room, “at least I can get half an hour of sleep before my sister comes in and makes a ruckus and wakes me up.” I said flopping onto my bed, hugging my little red bean filled pillow, wishing it was my very own pony plushy. “Why do those damned plushies cost so much?” I cursed curling into a little ball and drifting off to sleep.
After what felt like a split second, my eyes began to crack open, and instead of light pouring into my pupils, I found nothing but darkness. “Mom? I thought you said you’d wake me up for dinner. It’s dark as fuck out.” Climbing out of my bed clutched my squishy red pillow, I stepped onto my floor and open the door to my hall. Looking back at my clock I see that it’s 3:00am. “Fuck me, I slept for 12 hours? Goddammit.” Looking around I feel a warmness flush through my body as I shudder. “Whoa, that was weird.” I look down stairs to notice a light coming from something, a green light. “Mom? Dad? Did someone leave a light on downstairs?” I beckon to my mom’s room. With no answer I look inside, it’s empty, worried I run downstairs and to the basement door, the source of the light.
My hand touched the handle on my basement door, “Oh shit, what if it’s robbers?” I thought to myself and run over to my backpack without a single sound. Searching through my supply bag I carry when out boarding, I reach in the small hole in the front and pull out my 10 inch knife and removed the sheath, tossing it to the ground. Grasping the knife tightly, I walked towards the basement and opened the door slowly, the light got much brighter, I even had to shield my eyes.
“Whoever is down there, you just made a big mistake coming into my fuckin’ house!” flipping the knife around so I was holding it, blade out the bottom half my closed fist, I crept downstairs hiding behind the half wall, I look for shadows. Nothing, hurdling over the wall and rolling when I land, I look around to see a large emerald green fluorescent orb glowing in front of me. “What in god’s nonexistent name is that” I muttered to myself. Reaching forward I touched the oval shaped orb with the tip of my knife. It ripples just like it’s a liquid.
Then, to my surprise a hole about the size of my head opens up and the orb stretches out about a foot and grabs my hand all the way to my wrist. “What the fuck??? HELP!” I screamed at the top of my lungs, trying to pull my right hand back, but to no avail. “Damn this gimp shoulder of mine!” I curse pulling as hard as I could, hoping not to dislocate my shoulder. The orb’s strength suddenly doubles, pulling me straight into it. I felt as if I just got punched in the gut as I drifted through a large void.
Turning back I saw my basement from where I entered and I noticed my knife floating next to me. Grasping my knife by the tip with my index finger and thumb, I tossedthe blade as hard as I could towards the hole. “I hope that my parents see this!” I yell, thankful that my knife throwing skills paid off as I saw the knife stick to the half wall on my stairs through the hole.
Finally I lost consciousness, after what felt like an hour I awoke to the cold damp feeling of grass and nothing but darkness and the slight light of the moon. A cold breeze rolls in as I took in my surroundings, “Ok Myles, let’s get our bearings” I said out loud to myself. “This isn’t a dream, it couldn’t be, I’ve had a lucid dream before and I can’t control anything here.” Sighing I sat down in the damp grass to relax against a tree trunk.
Almost as if clockwork, I heard the sound of roaring. “Oh fuck, now what?” I said to myself as I sprung up from my sitting position into a fighting stance. “This isn’t going to be the first time I’m caught off guard!” I yelled out to the dark forest, legs shaking.
THUMP, THUMP, THUMP, the sound got closer. I turned to my left and saw, what I couldn’t believe, a goddamned manticore. “Just my luck, mythical beasts…. What have I gotten myself into now?” I asked to no one in particular.
After what seemed like hours, the manticore made its move, running towards me at full speed, “Please karate, pay off!” I begged as I got into complete focus, blocking out the immense fear I’m felt. Sweeping my feet around and rotating my body to the side at the last second, I moved out of the way of its pounce, facing the lion looking body, I threw two quick jabs in what I assume is his floating ribs.
Hearing a roar, I jump back, assuming my attack didn’t do much. “Great, so this thing is too big for punches, FINE!” I yelled throwing up my hands in anger. The manticore comes in for a second attack, this time I ran towards it as well, sliding under him as he jumps; I pushed both my legs up at his solar plexus. Hearing a yelp this time, the lion like beast face planted into the grass.
I readied myself for another attack, breathing heavily, only running on adrenaline, “That was a stupid move, I’m so glad it worked.” I lectured myself. Once again, the manticore comes in for another attack. This time, I couldn’t move my legs, looking down I saw a cut on my legs. “Oh shit, the manticore’s tail must have cut me.” I thought to myself. I guess the adrenaline prevented me from feeling pain, but now that I couldn’t move I stood there as the giant beast ran towards me almost in slow motion.
When suddenly, as he was just 5 feet away from me, he was stopped and lifted into the air, I dropped to my butt in shock, I gazed up at the beast surrounded in a rose coloured aura. Unable to move, something clicked in my head, “Holy shit, don’t tell me, rose-y aura’s, floating manticores, dark forests?” That was it; every bronies dream had become my nightmare and it almost killed me.
Much to my relief the manticore was thrown away into the forest as I heared the sound of horse steps coming my way, “Yes! Every brony’s dream!” thought to myself, as I saw a purple unicorn approaching from my left.
Twilight Sparkle, I knew that look all too well, Celestia’s faithful student. She quickened her pace and galloped over to me. “Oh no! You’re hurt, are you ok?” She asked once she reached my side.
“Yeah, but I got cut by its tail, so if I don’t get the venom out soon, I might die.” I said with a smile.
“Oh gosh! Well hold on one second, you’re lucky I was just coming back from Zecora’s hut, I have some anti-poison right here, take a sip.” She levitated a bottle of a vibrant green liquid out of her saddlebag.
Grabbing the bottle thankfully I gulped down 2 swigs. “Eww, that’s disgusting!” I said, wiping my mouth.
“Yeah, not the best flavour, but who are you, or what are you?” Twilight asked with a quizzical look on her face.
Little miss needs to know everything, I laughed to myself. “I’m a human, I came here from a different world, no idea how, just kind’a got sucked in a big green orb, woke up here.”
“What’s a human?” Twilight asked.
“You know? Biped, evolved from apes? Blah blah blah.” I said, hoping she understood.
“No can’t say I know, but if you don’t mind I’d like to do some research about you and your world.”
“That doesn’t seem too bad, but the temporary paralysis is wearing off, uhmm, this cut is going to start hurting…” I said, pointing at the cut along the back of my leg.
“Oh, yes! Sorry, come with me back to my house in Ponyville.” She said turning and starting to walk off. I get up slowly, still a little wobbly; I slowly shifted my weight over to my bad leg. Feeling a sharp sting I dropped to the ground.
“Uhmm ‘scuse me miss, I need help, I can’t walk.” I asked bashfully, not being one to ask people for help like this, it felt awkward and I definitely didn’t want her to know that I knew her name.
“Oh I’m sorry, and please, my name is Twilight Sparkle, student of the ruler of this land, Princess Celestia.” She said, with great pride.
“Well, nice to meet you Miss Sparkle.” I said, as I was enveloped with the rose colour aura and lifted next to her. Wrapping my arm around the back of her neck, I hold myself up. “Thanks a lot” I said trying to sound as sincere as possible. He body was so soft; it smelt of lavender, and berries. Her hair was sleek and shiny, kept so perfect, exactly the way she would want it.
“No problem, now just take it nice and slowly.” She said with a calming voice, causing my heart to melt a little. The combination of brony excitement and admiration for the girl who just saved my life was almost too much. We slowly made our way towards Ponyville, I had no idea how far in the forest we were, but it couldn’t have been too far. “So, what’s it like in your world?” Twilight said finally breaking the silence.
“Well for one thing, it sucks, it’s filled with poverty, war, murder, death and destruction and pollution.” I said bluntly.
“Oh my, that sounds awful.” Twilight said with a look of pity.
“Oh it’s not all bad, there are some nice people there, but not many and there still is some beauty left in the world, but it’s rather hard to find, making you appreciate it more when you do see it.” I said as we slowly kept walking.
“Well that’s good I guess” she said with much uncertainty in her voice, “So who raises the sun and the moon in your world?” She asked me with a little more enthusiasm.
“Uhmm well you see, that is…” I take the time to explain to her about the rotation of the earth on its axis, and it’s trajectory around the sun changes the time and seasons. Twilight seemed baffled by the thought of what I considered basic knowledge that almost everyone knew.
“Wow! So you’re world is like the Everfree forest?” Twilight was intrigued at the thought of such a world.
“Not exactly, there are a lot of creatures here that don’t exist in my world, like you, unicorns and pegasi don’t exist in our world and the normal horses definitely don’t talk, let alone look like you do.” I ramble on like my usual self, oblivious the cut bleeding on my leg as I hopped along.
“A world without pegasi and unicorns and where no pony talks? That’s bizarre.” Twilight said trying to imagine a world like that, which she was obviously having some difficulty with.
After a little while longer and being barraged with more questions I arrived at the edges of Ponyville. Looking upon the sight with awe, I was taken by the fact that my dream had come true. “My house is just over this way, it’s the big tree.” She said pointing towards, well, the big tree with her hoof.
“Ok, let’s move out!” I said pointing towards the sky in the general direction of her house. She laughed a little from my outburst.
“You’re awfully chipper for someone who was just pulled out of their world and shoved into a new one and attacked by a creature you’ve never seen before. I thought somepony would be frightened by this.” Twilight said confused but somewhat happy to see me happy.
“Well, I’m not gunna hide this from you, you see there is this show back where I live…” I began to explain to her the whole premise of MLP: FiM and explained about how I knew about all of this stuff.
“Oh, wow, that’s amazing, maybe that’s how you ended up here? Our worlds might be connected in some way.” Twilight thought out loud.
“Who knows, but what I’m more surprised by is the fact you aren’t creeped out by me watching you guys on TV and knowing who you all are.” I said, still just unbelievably ecstatic to be in Equestria, in my dream world, for real.
“I don’t know I guess things like that don’t creep me out, I find them fascinating” Twilight said, looking ahead to her approaching home.
Entering her home, we walked in and saw Spike cleaning some of the book cases with Owloysius. “So this is your home?” I asked her, acting as if it’s new to me, which it kind of was. It’s much different seeing it on a show then actually being there, that’s for sure.
“Yeah, but as you probably already know, it’s a library.” Twilight said looking up at me, her face quite close to mine, I could feel her breath on my face.
“Yeah, hehe, I’m a creepy individual.” I said as a joke.
“Who the heck is this guy?” I heard from spike as he slid down the ladder he was on.
“This is, uhmm, I’m so sorry, I forgot to ask you for your name…” She said with a bit of a sad look on her face. Her ears drooped slightly, it pulled at my heart to see her like this for some stupid little reason like this.
“Oh no big deal, I’m Myles, I’m a human from a different planet!” I said hoping to weird the little dragon out.
“Whoa, cool, hi Myles, I’m Spike, Twilights number one assistant” He said pointing at himself with his thumb.
“Nice to meet’cha little guy, I hope we can be good buds.” I said holding my fist out towards him for a fist bump.
“Uhhm, what are you doing?” He asked confused, looking at my fist with his head tilted.
“Oh boy, just bump your fist against it, it’s sort of a greeting.” I said with a sigh and a smile.
“Oh, ok!” Spike says pounding his little fist into mine. “Did I do it right?”
“Yeah, perfect bro.” I said, trying to act cool. He seemed to light up when I said that.
“Alright boys, now that you two are acquainted I need to treat your leg Myles” Twilight said walking me over to a couch.
“Ok, but I’m not getting any stitches am I? I hate needles.” I was a little worried.
“Stitches? Why would you need that? I’m a unicorn, hellooo” she said tapping the tip of her horn lightly with her hoof.
“Oh thank goodness.” I sighed a big sigh of relief. “This won’t hurt will it?
“No not at all!” She said her horn beginning to glow that same rose-y colour, as did the cut on my leg. I watched as it sizzled painlessly as the cut disappeared.
“Wow, now where were you when all these years I’ve been hurting myself being stupid” I laughed scratching the back of my head in embarrassment.
“Why are you still hurt somewhere else?” Twilight asked with much concern in her soothing voice.
“Uhmm, well I’ve had this damned pain in my right shoulder for two years and well….” I said grasping my shoulder with my left hand and rotating it slowly, feeling my joints crunch and sending pain down my arm and up my neck, I cringed.
“Yeah, I’ll see what I can do!” Twilight said as her horn began to glow a second time, this time my shoulder began to glow as well. After a few seconds, the glow dissipated and I tried to rotate it. Feeling no crunching or pain, I jumped up in celebration.
“Yes! Finally, Oh my gosh! I had forgot what it was like having smooth shoulder joints!” I was so happy I ran over and picked Twilight up in a hug and swung her around, she was surprisingly light too. She laughed and smiled as the sudden contact and seemed rather happy that she could help as well.
“Ok, well it’s really late, so we should all head up to bed now, uhmm I guess you can sleep on the couch for now.” Twilight said through her happy little giggles.
“I’m fine with that, as long as I have somewhere to sleep with a roof over my head, I’m fine with even the floor!” I said spinning around, full of excitement to be feeling ok again.
“Alright I’m glad you’re ok with that, well I’m off to bed, I’ll see you in the morning I guess?” Twilight said with a heartwarming smile.
“Yeah, thanks Twilight, I mean it, I’m really grateful for everything you’ve done for me in such a short time.” I said, looking into her large violet eyes, they were gleaming with happiness, just glad to have helped save somepony, or rather somebody’s life.
“No problem Myles, I’ll see you in the morning.” She said, smiling and trotting up the stairs to bed.
After she was gone I walked over to the couch and flopped down onto it with a thud. Almost as soon as my body touched couch, all of the energy I had used up over the night caught up with me and I turned to mush, letting out a long drawn out sigh. I missed my family a little and was quite worried about them, but I was also so happy to be in this world and sure they’d be fine without me. After a little bit, I felt my eyelids growing heavier, I really missed my family a lot but I would have to make do with this for the time being. Then with that, my eyes finally closed and I drifted off to sleep, content with being able to make my dream land, now reality.

By my count, it’s been around one hundred and twenty seven days since I got pulled through that emerald orb and Twilight found me and I’m glad that everyone, or rather, everypony accepted me into their lives, though I’m not quite sure everypony else in the town is used to seeing a human walking around town. It was getting late one afternoon as I was walking back to Twilight’s house after getting a bite to eat at Sweet Apple Acres, getting used to the vegetarian and sweets diet took some time, but it’s not bad, even if I’m not a sweets man.
Applejack had given me a bottle of extra strong cider to have as a welcoming gift, I guess it was the equivalent of their alcohol considering she gave me a sip of an already open bottle and it gave me that oh so familiar burn as the sweet nectar slid down my throat.
Reaching Twilight’s house, I open the door, “Twi? You home?” I said loudly, creeping into the house slowly, not exactly sure why I do that, it’s just habit. I placed the bottle on the table near the door and continued to move quietly.
“I’m up here Myles, in my room, I’ve got a surprise for you, come up here please?” Twilight said happily.
“Uhm, sure Twi, what’s this about?” I questioned, slightly fearful as to what I will encounter. I’m not exactly one for surprises, but Twilight and I seem to have a mutual understanding between each other, we are both perfectionists and obsessed with organization, so staying at her home felt like my own.
“Just come up here already, sheesh” She said kind of irritated. On queue I quickened my pace and ran up the stairs skipping steps until I reached the loft style room that led to Twilight’s room. The door was half open, so I took that as an invitation and opened the door to see Twilight lying on her bed, wrapped up in her blanket, fore legs crossed and a book in front of her. She looked adorable, I couldn’t deny that, all of the mares looked adorable, but there was something about Twilight that was different, I couldn’t quite figure it out.
“Y-yeah Twi?” I asked reluctantly, hoping it wasn’t bad news.
“I’ve been reading up on portal and inter-dimensional portals, the Star Swirl the Bearded volume and I think I may be able to find out a way to get you back home.” Twilight said turning her head to me; she was smiling so brightly, she looked beautiful.
“You did?” I asked shocked as to what I just heard.
“Yeah, it may take a while and probably a lot more research.” Twilight said flipping through a couple more pages of the thick book.
“More research? How much have you been researching already?” I asked as I walked over and took a seat next to her on the bed.
“Oh, well, I started looking for a way to get you back ever since you got here, I, uhm- started slacking a bit lately, it’s just I’ve been having so much fun with you, so I didn’t want it to end.” Twilight’s face turned a bright red.
“Listen Twi, you’re an amazing friend, I don’t want you to over work yourself, and you need to enjoy yourself more.” I said, trying not to tell her that I didn’t want to go, it was kind of embarrassing.
“You think of me as a friend?” Twilight said with a surprised look on her face, the blush getting brighter and her face heating up more.
“Noo, that’s why I’m looking to hang out with you and haven’t asked you when I can go home, naw you aren’t my friend at all.” I said trying to sound as sarcastic as possible, knowing she didn’t get sarcasm to well.
“Hehe, I guess you’re right Myles, I’m glad you consider me a friend,” Twilight said sighing with relief.
“How about we do something fun in the mean time? Stop looking for a way to get me home, you need some fun in your life.” I suggested, “Want any, y’know?” I asked, making a drinking gesture with my hand.
“Drinks? Like alcohol?” Twilight asked, with a surprised look on her face. “I uhm- I don’t drink, I’ve never had more than a couple drinks at Pinkie’s Parties, that’s it.”
“Well it just so happens your good friend Applejack gave me a nice fresh bottle of extra strong cider, care for a glass?” I asked getting up from her bed.
“Oh I shouldn’t really.” Twilight said, as she floated the large book over to a pile next to her bed, probably of books she read at night.
“Oh come on, Spike isn’t here and Owloysius is out and about, being an owl, let loose, live a little.” I said, shaking my arms like I was shaking maracas.
Twilight laughed lightly causing her to snort slightly, it was very cute, every little bit of her was absolutely heart crushingly adorable and the more I thought about it, the more I started to realize, I was developing feelings for this mare. Crazy right? A human, developing feelings for a pony? Whatever, I’m insane and dear Celestia, she is more amazing then any of those lame girls on earth, she made me smile in ways I hadn’t in so long, an actual intelligent girl, it was like a breath of fresh air and I was damned sure I was starting to fall for her. That’s a problem of mine, falling for girls much too quickly, so I thought it best to make sure that she doesn’t find out unless I’m sure she has feelings as well, cause I’ve been wrong before and that never ends well.
“Ahah, alright, you win, I’ll have some, it gets harder and harder to say no to you Myles, you’re a lot of fun.” Twilight said using her magic to unwrap herself from her blanket, she hopped down off the bed and trotted happily over to my side, she was just over half my height.
“Alright, drinking with Twilight Sparkle! This is going to be fun, I promise you.” I said, acting like my usual stupid self.
Walking downstairs together, I spotted the bottle and ran over to it. Turning to face her with it my hands, I displayed the bottle as if I was trying to sell it to her. “Want me to get some glasses?” Twilight asked.
“Yeah sure, I’ll open’er up.” I said biting down on the cork and pulling it off to hear that hollow popping sound. Giving it a deep sniff, I could definitely smell the alcohol, strong cider filled my nostrils. It smelt sweet and potent.
Twilight floats the bottle out of my hand and over by her; she fills the two wine glasses that are levitating near her and places the bottle on the table next to her couch and floats one of the glasses over towards me. “Here you are Myles.” Twilight said with an embarrassed smile.
“Why thank you my dear!” I said, trying to imitate Rarity’s voice, “Cheers my dear.” I raise my glass up and Twilight’s glass floats over and clinks gently into mine. “Down the hatch.” I said, as I gulp all of the sweet liquid down at once, the burn in my throat is stronger than I expected causing me to cough, “Wooh, that was a lot stronger than I thought, but, it is really good.”
Twilight does the same, “Holy! *cough* yeah, but the after taste is really good, it’s sweet.” Twilight said, in wonderment at this newfound taste, “Another glass my dear friend.”
Almost like daggers, the word friend strikes you in the heart, “Yeah sure, I’d love one.” I said with slight sadness in my voice. Hearing her refer to me as a friend almost burnt, it was just painful.
“Something the matter? Do you not like the wine?” Twilight asks with a quizzical look on her face, she can easily tell when something is the matter. She knows I’ll tell her anything, “Come over on the couch with me, ok?” She said, slowly walking over to the couch while simultaneously pouring her and I another glass.
“Twilight, do you like anypony?” I ask her, looking down at the glass in my hand, taking a sip of the sweet wine, sitting next to the pony that I’ve fallen for, another species, will she accept me?
“Yes of course, I like a lot of ponies, why do you ask?” she said, leaning over to get a better look at my face hidden by my long bangs.
“No, I mean, like another pony more than a friend, like having feelings for somepony special?” I said, my face starting to heat up, “Cause, I do…”
“I do to, but I’m afraid that he won’t like me, we’re really different yet so similar.” She said now trying to avoid looking at me. As I look up at her slightly through my hair, trying to keep my red face covered.
“Oh, I’m sure that wouldn’t matter to him, you’re a great pony, anypony would be lucky to have you in their life.” I say, a tear forming in my eye.
Twilight moves closer to me, placing her hoof gently on my leg as I look down into my half full glass of wine, the sudden contact caused me to jump a little.
I lift my head up, hair still covering my eyes, I down the rest of my drink and turn to face Twilight, looking her directly in her giant lavender eyes, “I like you Twilight, you’re the pony I have feelings for you…” my face went bright red.
The look of shock on her face from my sudden movements slowly disappears as she moves slowly towards my face. Unable to comprehend what’s going on due to all of the thoughts running through my head, I sit there motionless, staring into her eyes, I feel a tear run down my cheek.
Her face closes in as I feel her lips press themselves against mine; her eyes slowly flutter closed as she pushes slightly deeper into the kiss. Her lips are soft and warm as I feel the heat from her enter my body, causing me to shudder, I relax into her kiss. My glass floats out of my hand and joins Twilights on the nearby table.
Twilight pulls away and opens her eyes half away, her cheeks flushed red, and she smiles gently in a way that causes my heart to skip a beat. Eyes still closed, I feel her press herself into me again, this time more aggressively, I can feel her tongue lightly touch the tips of my lips as if shyly asking for entrance, to which I graciously grant access.
I can feel her tongue enter my mouth, exploring the new found world, tasting my mouth slowly, as if she has done this 1000 times before, until I push back with my own tongue to meet the new intruder. Our tongues wrestle as I taste the insides of her mouth as well, she tasted almost like berries with a hint of cider from the wine; an amazing combination.
Both of our eyes closed, I wrap my arms around her and pull her closer until her body is flush against mine; I can feel the heat of her body mixing with mine. Twilight softly moans into my mouth, obviously enjoying this as much as I am.
