//-------------------------------------------------------// Bed Head, and the Bronies... -by Shattered Heart- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: Bronies and Pegasisters? //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: Bronies and Pegasisters? I enjoy lazy days. Nothing beats em, lazy days are priceless. You can do anything you want! Sleep, play, talk, whatever you want to do! That's what is so magical about them... But I never thought that I would enjoy something more than my lazy days, until... Well... Last Tuesday. As I wake up from my 5th nap of the day, I grab my cloud and fly off to a quieter spot. The town below me called Ponyville has been rather loud as of late, I should have already known to move my cloud somewhere else. All of town seems to be gossiping about some weird subject. I don't care too much for gossip, but if ponies are spending so much time talking about it, I may as well get involved. Almost on queue my friend Summered Skies flies up to me. "Hey! Bed Head, you sleeping again," He asks, as if he didn't already know the answer. “You should join in on the fun! Have you heard of the new show that everyone is watching?" I haven't really heard much about the show, but from what I know from all the gossip that interrupts my sleep, I know the whole town is obsessed with it. I yawn in Summers face and try to shoo him away, but as I lay back down he "poofs" my cloud. Forcing myself to fly, I glare at him with the worst face I can manage... It wasn't very much of a glare. I'm too sleepy to really be glaring at him. "C'mon Bed Head! You'll like the show! Let's go to my house and we'll go watch it with my friends!" Pulling up another cloud to lay on I ask what the name of the show was. "My Big Human, Friendship is Magic," he replies. I stare at him. Now firstly he interrupts the nap I was trying to have, he pops my cloud and makes me put in the effort to keep my body afloat, and now he wants me to engage in ... Some sort of fairy tale? "Humans?" I ask," You mean those things that Lyra is always yapping about?" Summers, smiled and nodded at me, explaining that humans were some hairless monkeys that stood up straight, and solved problems based on friendship. "Wait a minute..." I ask of Summers as I think. 'My Big Human'. I think that was a filly’s show way back in the day. "You expect me to watch a show about Fillies?" I ask Summers almost laughing. He smiles to, but explains that the show is more of a family show now, so stallions and mares could watch it too. I think its fine for him to have his own interests, but I don't think the show is exactly my thing. He then explains that the town was raving over the show, and I just stare at him with surprise. Why would this show be so popular with adults now, when it was horribly cheesy and fillyish like a decade ago? "I think I'll pass," I state as I fly off away from him hugging my new cloud. What is wrong with Summers? It's bad enough he annoyed me today, but he went as far as to invite me to go with him with a bunch of strangers to watch a show for fillies that is supposedly for the family now. I'm going back home, maybe I’ll watch a show that's ACTUALLY for stallions. Like 'Orphan Girl', or 'How I met your Father.' As I get home I turn on the television and flip through the program that holds many television shows and movies. Weeks passed as I finally finished all of the shows that I liked, I even went back and watched some old movies that I liked as a colt. Now I have nothing to watch. As I flip through the programs, slowly scanning for something I can watch without ever, what do I see, but "My Big Human, Friendship is Magic." This is just unbelievable, I thought of Summers, and thought maybe I could playfully tease him about something about the show if I watch a bit of it. We are close enough friends that we make fun of each other after all. I press play and almost immediately I cringe. The narration wasn't the issue, but the theme song. Oh god, it's just SO FILLYISH. I can just tell this show was made for fillies. I feel like I can tease him with this theme song alone. It suddenly came to me that maybe I should actually judge the show, rather than being biased, and so I did. The first episode was basically half of a movie, so I watched another. I laughed a lot, mainly over how fillyish and cute the show was, it's almost unbearable to watch. As I finish the 3rd episode I come to realize what Summers meant by,"It's a show about friendship problems." I continue to watch and before I know it I have finished 2 seasons of the show. The only 2 seasons that were available. I lay back onto my couch and stare at the ceiling. I just close my eyes and think about what I have just done for the last 12 hours. I just can't believe so many ponies in town watch this. As I finally open my eyes I curse at myself... I found myself liking the show. A little more than I feel that I should be liking it. The show is simple, cute, and for some reason very well animated, and the songs are catchy and cute. Have... Have I fallen? I walk out my house.... It's time to go see Summers. As I approach Summers door, the door opens just I get to it ,"Oh HEY Bed Head! What's up?" he asks seemingly surprised to see me. His face told me otherwise, I think I know why he is staring at me... I explain to him that I watched the show, his smile grew bigger than his face should have allowed. "SO! Are you a Brony now?" He asks, baffling me. I ask what a 'Brony' is and he began to explain, "Stallions or colts that watch the series identify themselves as 'Bronies', some mares or fillies do too, but others call them 'Pegasisters'. As I said before, all of the town is watching it. The show has gotten super popular over the last couple years." I can hardly believe that ponies have been addressing themselves like this... But what if those 'Pegasisters' are unicorns? Are the called Unisisters or something? Why is there a name for this group of ponies anyway? But then he explains to me what a fandom is, and it all beings to make sense, "Yeah, but the show isn't even the best part about being a Brony. The community is the real reason to be one," Summers explains, "There are fanfics, music videos, animations, tons of stuff based on the fandom." I stare at him in shock and fly home feeling a little more over my head than I thought I would. I decide to sleep... But for the first time in a long time, I have come to discover that I couldn't sleep. I had to know what he meant by 'music videos, and animations'. I get out of bed and log into my computer, I spend the next day or two looking at videos and websites. There are ponies that do amazing things! Art, videos, fanfics.... Even Roleplay! It's just so overwhelming. It doesn't take long until I became obsessed with all of the content that Equestria offered. I can't believe that I almost didn't become a fan of the show. I did the number one thing that everypony says to never do. Judge a book by it's cover. I log onto a website for short stories, and begin to type. I have become a Brony, and I like it. I don't know how long this fandom will last, but for now... I'll enjoy the ride.
