The Way of Life
Previous ChapterYou know, when you think of a school containing the likes of Northern Manehattan Middle School, you think of wonderful things. You think of laughter, kindness, honesty, friendship, loyalty, generosity, all of those values, as we are taught by our teachers and by the Princess Twilight Sparkle and her friends. We are taught to use these values day, night, anytime, anywhere, even if nobody is watching, and to avoid bad values like greed, sexual pleasures, isolation, slavery, creativeness that passes ethics, and hatred. We live and love these positive values, and it’s hard to believe that just six years ago, a fight would happen on an average of every two days. It was a shithole. Our school’s colors are White and Green, symbolizing a purity in nature, and it looks good on jerseys, especially the reflective hoofball ones. They’re pretty.
We’ve also been told that our colors determine who we are. My best friend, Festive Light, loves the colors blue and red, which I think is a bad combination, but i’m not Festive Light, am I? I’m not, my favorite two colors are green and blue, and I especially think aqua is a great combination, even with brown, even though nobody else likes it. My favorite shirt that says “Hoofball is life” is aqua with a black text and a simplistic black stripe scheme down the sides and around my torso. It fits perfectly and even has wing slots that match me perfectly. It’s great.
I know this kid i’m an acquaintance with named Peach Blossom. She’s a wonderful pony, but has slight issues. A week previous she got her cutie mark which looks kinda like a bit. Lucky. I want money as my cutie mark. I haven’t gotten mine yet. I’ll probably get a toilet or something.
Manehattan North was built in a not rich, but not ghetto low density residential district called “House Open Unified Space for Environmental Industry for the Next-Generation, cleverly (or not?) made into an acronym we call “HOUSING”, which I personally think is stupid. As such, the east campus is located at a high-density rich residential district, west is in a commercial area, south in a low-residential, low income area and central in a high-density, low-income neighborhood. All schools are rivals with each other and a few days ago, there was a shooting at an elementary school in south side where a SMMS student shot a teacher.
Yeah, our schools are that fucked up.
I have friends in all districts. I met a filly named “Applejack” or something like that in Manehattan East. She lives in Ponyville but was there visiting her Uncle and Aunt. She ran away and I never saw her again. I guess somepony stole her name and became famous. I know Ryder, another filly who lives in the Manehattan South. She has a very run down house and I have very good memories with her, whether it’s tag, or hide-and-seek, or just anything. We really like each other. I know a lot but those are the two I choose when somepony.
My day always starts the same: wake up, shower, eat something, brush, get my backpack, go outside to wait for the bus, forget something, run back in, get that thing, and come back out to barely make it to the bus. I’m almost accustomed to it. The school I go to is far beyond Ringer Street, the street I live on. It’s on North Main instead, a larger road about 4 miles from where I live. I take the bus that says “Manehattan North” on it and ride it to school where I get off and trip, due to how short I am. I’m probably the shortest in the graduating class. I’m kinda popular in my classes due to how much of a class clown I am. I pay attention but somehow maintain a 2.5 GPA. Since i’m in 8th grade, i’ve fulfilled enough to go to high school so I don’t have that many classes. I have a math class, and english class, a woodshop, and a Flying Class, and that’s just pretty much it. I stay for lunch, then go home where I love to draw and write. I’m home by around 12:30 PM so I just take a nap until then draw or read. I also take a dancing class and a self-defence class, but i’ve never been in a dance off or a fight, and probably never will be. In simpler terms, I wake up, I eat, I go to school, I eat, I come home, I eat, I draw or write, I eat, then I go to sleep. And I must say, it’s a very nice way of life. I don’t gain weight often, so I just eat what I feel like. And that’s it. I don’t comb my mane or tail, so it’s very much like Rainbow Dash’s with the exception that I have a 75% gray mane and a 25% gray tail. I have a snow white coat, but I don’t think it accents the tail or mane well. On the contrary, everyone else does, and I still ask myself whether it’s a good thing or a bad thing.
