The collection of human ambassadors, harmonics and ascent staff along with strict guidelines to follow while making a temporary stay in Equestria is, in many people's views, a dam for the flow of ideas. The regulation did extinguish the enthusiasm of many, but that was just a small sacrifice for the opportunity to see another world at all. However, this dam is definitely doomed to fail; no amount of regulation can stop the interaction between two sapient species who are infinitely curious about each other-- one is more wary, but curious nonetheless.
Of course, when two worlds collide, there is first a massive exchange of ideas, a culture shock, and finally, assimilation along with a sprinkling of minor xenophobia-based skirmishes.
Recently, the United Nations proposed new subjects for negotiation with the Equestrian government...
"What are you reading there?" A female voice from below said.
"Some obscure article from some obscure news page about some obscure topic involving inter world negotiation-- by some obscure people." I stated lazily.
"I don't see how anything involving Equestria could be considered obscure in earth's eyes. Why not read from some of the more well-known news companies?"
"Well, the United States has had a pretty long history of being politically divided, so I'm just being careful with my bias."
"That's a... laptop, right?" she said, putting some emphasis on the third word,"One of my friends informed me about this sort of device. Its form-factor seems similar to my tablet."
I kept my head down on the table, not wanting to listen to the company. It's that ignorance that trails behind every voice that people start to notice when they become more technologically literate. The frustration it causes me is something I know is quite irrational, but I can tolerate. Of course, any emotion other than awe is quite insignificant when someone is able to travel to another world for a part-time job. Heh, the nerds are first to invade Equestria; may Newton's Flaming Laser Sword strike them all down. I thought.
