"Okay, Spike, this is the day!" Twilight said, enthusiastically.
"The day for what?" The lazy, purple dragon inquired.
"Have you forgotten already!?" Twilight asked.
"Uh... Yeah, I think so," Spike said, "Anyway, what's happening today?"
"DUH!," The ecstatic pony said, "Today's the day of my final test!"
"Oh..." Spike murmured.
"C'mon, Spike, it's not that bad." Twi said.
A split second passed, Spike heard a twinkling sound, and braced himself. Books went flying in all directions and quite a few hit spike.
"No, no, no, no, YES!" the young alicorn exclaimed.
She was holding a large, leather covered, dusty book. It had a pattern of some sort, Similar to Celestia and Luna's cutie mark. The book quickly flew open, dust going everywhere, the stiff, yellow pages of the book inscribed with ink blotches and splatters. Twilight levitated a white feather above the book. A bright purple beam of blinding light shot out of her horn, the feather as its victim. The pale white feather slowly took the shape of an egg, then a dove, then twilight smelled burning. Immediately, she slammed the book shut. The beam of light slowly disappeared, as did the feather.
"Yay! You did it!" Spike exclaimed.
"No... I-I didn't," Twilight said, tears brewing in her eyes, "I d-didn't do it."
"Oh... Don't worry Twi, It's only a spell." Spike said, sympathetically.
"ONLY, A SPELL!?" Twilight screamed, "ONLY, A SPELL!? Yeah, it's only a spell that the princess would fail me on if I didn't complete. Only a spell that is so simple, I daresay Pumpkin cake could do it!"
Spike ran off, tears welling in his eyes. Twilight slumped into her bed. Her tears soaking the covers. How could she have failed? A simple transformation spell was all she needed to perform. And now, Twilight was probably going to have her wings taken away, and her horn! sent to the Canterlot dungeons for the rest of her life! The ideas in Twilights head kept going on, Kept repeating and birthing new thoughts.
Then, something inside Twilight snapped. Something deep inside.
