Nightmare Moon sighed, and used her magic to turn the page on the book she held. Listed was the name of 5 chosen ponies from every city in Equestria. The page was titled "Ponyville". On the page were the names Vinyl Scratch, Aloe Vera, Noteworthy, Time Turner, and Trixie Lulamoon. Moon groaned angrily. "There HAS to be a better way." She tried to support her head with a foreleg, but failed, and ended up faceplanting into the table, causing the tall red candle to quiver violently. Still unfazed, Moon called, "Next." in a muffled, monotone voice. She waited. Nothing. She looked up. Nobody was in the doorway. Had Vinyl decided not to show? "Next!" Nightmare Moon called loudly. "Hello!" Nightmare was dumbfounded. Instead of a white unicorn with a blue mane, in bounced(?) a pink earth mare with incredibly poofy hair. "Who...are...you," replied Nightmare Moon in an acid voice. "Pinkie Pie!" chirped the pink pony in a disgustingly sweet tone. Nightmare Moon checked her list. "You are not on the list." Nightmare Moon stated in a steady voice. Pinkie stopped bouncing, and sat down. "So?" She replied happily. Nightmare was stunned. "S-So?! If you weren't chosen, you'll have to make an appointment, and nobody's informed me..." Pinkie shrugged nonchalantly. "So?" She repeated. Moon was at a loss for words. "B...You...I...GAAAAAH!" Nightmare Moon sighed in frustration. Pinkie Pie rested a hoof on Moon's shoulder, causing her to jump. "How did you..?!" Pinkie placed a hoof over Nightmare Moon's mouth. "Y'know, you'd probably be happier if you didn't get as huffy about everything." "Wh-Why are you here if you don't have an appointment?!" Pinkie's smile fell, looking away. "Nobody wants to be my special somepony. I've asked Applejack, and..." Nightmare Moon looked somewhat confused. "Aaand..?" "She...rejected me. She said she was already going to ask Rarity..." Nightmare Moon fidgeted slightly. "Um, I'm s-sorry?" Pinkie smiled brightly and bounced into the air. "That's okay! It's why I'm here! Since I didn't have luck with my friends, maybe I'll have luck with a princess!" Nightmare Moon's pupils contracted. "Wh-" "Well, what are we waiting for? Let's get this party started!" Nightmare Moon opened her mouth to summon her guards, but a small voice in the back of the alicorn's head whispered, "Give her a chance."
