Sweetie Drops was running as fast as her hooves could move her, the mountain of gold she was on didn't help any, nor did the giant tail that burst through it. The mission was supposed to be easy, go in and grab a staff, couldn't be simpler! Though the dragon had a different idea for her. Sweetie couldn't help but glance behind her; A huge mound of gold had risen like a wave and began to fall away from the massive body underneath, Sweetie's eyes widened as a large wyvern turned its head towards her.

The entrance could not have been further, Bon Bon couldn't hear her own breathing over the sound of metal crashing against metal, and her vision was filled with gold as she continued to move further down the mountain of treasure. Suddenly she found herself bouncing as the dragon took chase after her, its deafening footsteps only made her move faster.

Why me! Why me! Bon Bon screamed internally.

"You cannot run from me prey" A booming voice called after her.

Bon Bon could feel the drakes breath on her back, deciding that she did not like that feeling she took a sudden left behind a pillar; She did not turn her head to see see the source of the titanic crash as the dragon slipped as it tried to keep behind her, the dragon slid through pillars as its body as it tried to right itself. The dragon shook its head as it recovered; Sweetie took the time to find some cover, deciding to catch her breath.

"Clever girl, it has been for too long since I've had any protein, you cannot hide in my domain!" The dragon growled as it moved through the cave. "I plundered the castles of your ancestors, every thing you see belonged to your people... But it is mine now, and I will not allow any of it to be reclaimed!"

Jeez, this guy must be real popular at parties Sweetie smirked at her unspoken joke.

All too soon her smirk fell from her face as she stared into the eye of her hunter.

"Uhhhh... How's it going?" Sweetie asked with an innocent smile on her face.

The drakes eye narrowed clearly not amused, turning its head it opened its mouth and thrust forward. Sweetie jumped away from her location, and a second later the pillar exploded from the force of the dragon's mouth closing around it. Deciding not to stick around she began to run for the entrance again. Not tasting pony the dragon roared loudly, once again it took chase after the tiny morsel.

Sweetie barreled through the entrance of the cave panting from the exertion, but she kept on running. When she felt she had gotten far enough away she stopped and turned back, looking at the mountain she could hear the dragon roaring furiously. From where she was standing she could a cloud of dirt come off from the mouth of the cave, no doubt the dragon was throwing a tantrum. Looking down at her saddle bags Sweetie smiled, she had retrieve the artifact, now all that was left to do was to return to Canterlot and report in.

Suddenly a loud crashing sound could be heard from the mountain, slowly Sweetie turned to look towards the sound; A large cloud of dust was in the air, but she could see the silhouette of the large wyvern, suddenly the cloud of dust was dispersed as the dragon stood on its hind legs and extended its wings.

"You have got to be kidding me!" Sweetie screamed angrily.

Sweetie watched as the dragon flew overhead, she wondered why it ignored her. Watching the dragon fly away from mountain Sweetie began to realize that the dragon was flying towards Canterlot.

"That can't be good, can it?" Sweetie wondered aloud.

As Sweetie walked along the road she noticed a large cloud of smoke in the distance, deciding that she could receive some answers she began to run.

When Sweetie finally reached the town it was scorched black, there were still hot embers in some places, as she was walking through the wreck she heard coughing.

"Somepony... Help me, please!" A voice weakly called out.

Sweetie ran towards the direction of the voice, when she found a hoof sticking out of a pile of rubble she began to remove the debris.

"Don't worry! I'll get you out of there!" Sweetie called out.

When she removed the last piece of rubble, Sweetie screamed as loud as she could, a charred skull rolled out of the rubble.

Sweetie Drops awoke profusely sweating and breathing heavily, it had been a nightmare... Sighing fearfully, she turned her head towards her camp fire. As she watched the flames dance in the night with the crackling of the wood as its music, her mind began to wander.

Surely the bureau knew of the dragon in the mountain, right? This thought swam in her mind endlessly. "So... Why send somepony here? Is the artifact really that important that Princess Celestia would give an order this reckless?"

With that last thought Bon Bon fell into a restless sleep.

With a thunderous crash, the drake landed next to a large pool of water.

"In the eye of greed do we grow, a sleepless slumber from which we sleep, and to fire do we return." The dragon quietly recited a passage as it stared into the pool of clear water.

The dragon waited patiently as the water remained calm, then the water began to churn violently, then it began to take the form of a siren. Slowly the water being stretched its body, turning to face the wyvern the siren smiled.

"It has been far too long since I've been summoned, what is it that troubles you this time my dear?" The siren's voice was melodic and powerful.

"That alicorn is starting to make her move, I will not allow her to complete her plan" The drake growled.

The drake turned away from the siren and stormed off into a nearby cave, turning to face the siren again he spoke.

"A darkness is coming, and we need that orb to ensure our dominance when they unlock those stones..."
