Chapter One: Thunder Rolls
Every pony was cuddled in bed, waiting for another day to come. The three fillies had obtained their cutie marks, and it had been another lesson learned for the wondrous magic of friendship. It was sure grateful, and especially for Twilight Sparkle. She just marveled at the wonder of her new castle, her giant room and slid off to bed. She was drifting off to sleep, closing her eyes, until a loud bang woke her up, along with some quiet whimpering.
''Don't worry, Spike, it's just a thunderstorm! Nothing bad! I promise! Now come out! Please!" she cooed as she knew what was happening, her number one assistant hidden in his blanket.
No response.
"Spike, please, if you want, you can sleep with me tonight."
"(sniff) Really! You never do that!"
"Yes, now don't worry, it's just a thunderstorm."
"Oh, okay! And um Twilight, can I ask you something?"
“Sure Spike! Anything!”
“Can I call you my mom?”
Twilight was stunned. She did not know what to say. She had wanted this since she had hatched him. Should she?
"You don't want to. It's fine"
"No Spike, I've been waiting for you to tell me 17 years ago!"
"Really! Because all you did was hatch me-"
"No, I hatched you. You couldn't have hatched out on your own."
"What?"
"Yes, son."
"Mom!"
"Now go to sleep, we have a lot of discussing tomorrow."
"Goodnight, mommy."
Twilight felt a warmth inside her, as she was going to bed, but decided to look out the window, to see how bad the storm was. Her ears dropped and worry filled her face clean.
"Twi? I'm getting scared...Twi!" yelled Spike, seeing a bright blue light fill the room.
"Spike...do you see that! Watch out!"
Boom. The room erupted in flames. Spike jumped out of bed, and on Twilight's back, running towards the man hall. Twilight was panicking, and this was the reason Spike was scared of storms, in his dreams at least. A giant rock, a blue fire burning meteorite to be exact, hit the room, and now everything's burnt.
"Everyone! The castle's on fire! Help!"
No one freaking heard the crash, nor the yelling from Twilight.
Ten more meteors hit the giant crystal. There was bound to hear it.
"AHHH! ANYONE!"
As an instant, the five girls came out of their rooms and started panicking.
"Darling your house! Should we run! Should we-"
"There's no time, and the sky! Something's going to happen! It's has teal fire!"
"And there are teal aurora holding the meteors! Look!"
"What! Who has teal magic here! No one except...no!"
As an instant, Sunset appeared.
"Sunset Shimmer! What are you doing in this world! Do you know anything about this!"
"I do! The portal! It's sucking up magic! And this fire is not mine! I don't have family, and who would want to see your castle destroyed!"
"Then how are you here!"
"I was turned to a unicorn! And I went to the portal, and it is sucking Canterlot high dry!"
They sped to the exit of the castle, pieces falling off of it.
"The moment I looked up the mirror, I panicked, then somehow, I don't know how, ran out of my house, all the way to the portal, and the school was getting taken chunks out of."
"Really! Wow! And the people!"
"Dead. Some are outside, but I bet bricks fell on top of them. It really is a sight not to see."
"What! Flash-"
"Yes."
"NOOOO!! FLASHY!"
"Yawl look out!"
Another meteor crashed, near them, out in front of the castle, and it cut open revealing a pony inside. The fire on the rock ceased as well.
"Look! There's a pony inside!"
An orangey-yellow unicorn stallion with dark blue hair on fire with a sword also lit on fire came up to the surface. It had scars all over its body, and a coat and cape came up, he looked beat up. Every pony stepped away in fear. He had chains in his hooves, indicating he had just escaped prison.
"Who are you! And, did you just pop out of a meteor! Explain. Now!"
"Twilight, calm down!"
"NO! HE KIILED FLASH!"
"Flash's dead! He escaped Canterlot High with me, along with many other people, and Equestria is quickly losing magic to the other world!"
"I thought debris fell on his head!''
"Are you two fighting over for him!"
Twilight blushed, but Sunset wasn't so sure since she was blushing at some pony else.
"Okay, I've been trapped for a long time, in a cruel cell, and I found my way out. Ever since Twilight came back to that world, magic has been unsteady, and it ended up filing and breaking, making a beast sucking up magic, and in it's place, the portal is going to take out every builiding there is!"
"No! That's horrible! No more school!"
"People will lose their homes!"
"There won't be PIE-CAKE EATING!" Pinkie shouted out of the blue.
"Are you single?''
Every pony looked at Rarity, who pointed at Sunset, then hiding a giggle, covered her mouth with her hoof. They all laughed.
"Hmm....Uh! I mean, I wasn't daydreaming! I swear!"
The mysterious pony then blushed himself, a bit, then his hair came back to normal.
"We need to get to the other world and prevent it from collecting more magic, or else, there will be no more, and power there could cause villains to rise! And, if a counterpart exists over there, and dies, the one here disappears as well."
"That's impossible! We need to get to Celes-"
"Princess Celestia you mean?"
"Yes!"
"Gone. Luna as well. Their counterpart died from collapsing buildings, so the balance was unnatural and here she vanished into thin air.''
Twilight fell on the floor, the world blackening, remembering all she wanted was a peaceful night.
"And h-how can we fix this, um, what's your name?" began Sunset
"Don't stammer. I'm not royal or anything-"
"That's not the reason why."
"What?"
"Forget it.
"To begin with, we have to find a way to prevent more magic into leaving Equestria."
"How!"
"The world portal is not working, and is the source for it's dismissal is the portal."
"So, we need to close or clog it temporarily?"
"Exactly. Then wait for it to smoothen with the amosphere, so that later on we will take it back to the surface."
"How long do we have to wait?"
"I don't know. But I need some people to help me. Can you guys agree?"
"I-aah..."
"Be careful!"
The pony teleported Sunset out of the way, and another meteorite hit him, crushing him.
"NOOOO!" cried Sunset, as she ran towards the meteor, astonished it was slowly getting lifted up, by who else.
"Don't worry, I don't die that easy, otherwise, I wouldn't be here."
She hugged him, then quickly took herself off, embarrassed.
"Don't do that again, you scared me!"
"Scared you? We've just met-"
"EVERYPONY CALM DOWN!" the mayor advised, "FIND SHELTER AND RUN AS FAR AWAY FROM THESE METEORS AS POSSIBLE!"
"Mayor!" Rarity and Applejack ensued, running towards her. "It's not safe-"
Smaller metoers came crashing down.
"Gahhh!!''
"How will we get to destroy this mess!" yelled Sunset.
"Easy. We need someone to sacrifice their magic to the other world."
"No! There's got to be another way! Who will ever sacrifice themselves to do the job?"
"I will."
Sunset looked into his sapphire blue eyes, knowing she'd have to listen to her heart sooner or later. She didn't want to be a fool out of herself, but she would die knowing she never got to meet him, have a nice chance of a romance with, and it hurt.
"No. I can't let you do it."
"Why?"
"Because, be-cause I-lo-"
"I already did."
"What!" she stunned, and he was gone.
He had wings of fire, shooting flares of his horn and turning the meteors to dust. He went high into the sky, and every pony marveled, as there were no more, but also that the clouds were glowing blue. All the pegasi came to blow the clouds away, and the sky was back to normal. The metoer had diminished, but in the sky, there was another portal, and it was bigger than the mirror. The stallion was slowly walking into it when..
"NOOO DON'T LEAVE ME HERE!!!" Sunset cried, and tried her best to catch her attention. All the ponies looked at her, curious at why she sounded so upset. Twilight woke up, from dismaying, and the other girls were scared to death since, well, they barely escaped it. Celestia rose the sun, appearing before Twilight's eyes. Luna flew down to check on every pony. She was stunned Sunset was crying silently to herself.
"Is everypony okay?" Luna yelled. Agrees and a few moans and grunts of pain were answered for her.
"Okay, my little ponies, ambulances are coming, with the carriages, so ponies injured will be at Central Silver Lake hospital as soon as possible."
Everyone was happy, expect to say for two mares, that is.
"MY CASTLE!! MY BOOKS!!" screamed Twilight, only for it to be intact two seconds later.
"Oh."
"I will be with you!" Sunset yelled, and with a simple teleportation spell, she ended up on him, losing his wings and falling. The portal closed, and they entered the human world, but they were being filled with magic, and very soon enough, they turned to humans, but their ears and tails were still there. His eyes widened at Sunset's beauty, but at also he wasn't dead, and the world was intact.
"What are you doing here!"
"Um, now can I help-"
"No! Not anymore! You could have killed yourself! Maybe it didn't fixed! Maybe the magic here is unbalanced! Grr! Just get out of my sight!"
Sunset's heart was blown to smithereens. He hated her. He refused her. He even didn’t want to see her! And it was fixed! She slowly felt tears coming to her eyes, and sobbed loudly. She put her hands in her face, since no one had ever yelled at her like that. He turned his head around to see her, and she say him. He was perfect. His hair, eyes everything about him made her emotions dizzy, and he didn't want her.
"Okay, look, I'm sorry. And don't know what came into me."
"You yelled at me."
"I'm sorry, I won't do it again, I promise."
"Pinkie Promise?"
"Pinkie what?"
"Pinkie Promise. Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye."
"Okay. Cross my heart and stick my eye, hope to fly a cupcake?"
She just giggled softly, and came close to him, teaching the correct way, and he managed to say it.
Somehow, to him, seeing Sunset cry was the worst. He couldn't stand her poor choice of doing nothing but softly sobbing, and it filled him with regret and sorrow.
"Okay, we haven't made things straight with us. My name is Midnight Sapphire-"
"That's your name? Wow."
"And yours?
"Sunset Shimmer. I know it's stupid."
"No, it's actually better than mine. I love it."
"You do!"
"Yeah, just like the rest of your body, shimmering like the sun."
He swore hearts popped up of her eyes once he said that.
They had no clue things had gotten way worse, and all in an instant.
