Week 1- The woods

Day 1

Well fuck.

It was supposed to be a quick jump, that’s what the scientists said. Make the jump record what ever I find on the other side and jump back. Not that hard right?

Wrong, so fucking wrong. They gave me a neat little band that’s locked around my arm, kind of like a pip-boy. Its what lets me jump between dimensions and acts like a rescue beacon in-case I get hurt. The one thing that they didn’t account for was the EMP that occurs when you land on the other side.

So yeah, I'm fucked in another dimension with no way to get back and I have a ten pound fucking paper weight strapped to my arm. And I know what your thinking, why not take it off if its useless? Because for reasons the eggheads thought it might slip off mid-jump, their solution? Fucking bolts. Yup, they bolted the damn thing on and didn’t give me anything to take it off in-case of emergencies.

Well I better find some kind of shelter, lord knows what kind of critter lives in these woods.

Day 3

Found some shelter after spending hours dodging something big in these woods. A nice tucked away cave halfway up the nearest mountain. Luckily all I had to do was shoo some bats out and not a bear. Took a full day to get all of my gear from the landing site while dodging what I think is, and I swear I'm not crazy, a manticore. Normally I would have take an hour at most but this thing was big time looking for me. Hopefully it never finds me.

Day 5

Holy shit! It found me! Not an hour after my last log I was busy gathering firewood when I heard it behind me. It had somehow snuck up on me and I swear it made a noise just to get my attention. Well he had it, I turned around to see what the noise was and there he was just a few inches from my face. Not sure how long we stayed like that, staring at each other. Then he let out the most god awful roar I've ever had the privilege to hear and I was halfway across the clearing when he was done.

I got to admit it, the damn thing was impressive up close but I didn’t want to see it like that. Nice, far away, and unknowing of my presence would have been better. But he saw me first, the big fuzzy bastard.

I spent a whole day just trying to lose the damn thing. He was persistent as hell. I finally tried masking my scent with mud, which since im writing this means that it worked.

But enough about him. I'm going to move my camp just incase he finds me again. Top of the mountain here I come! Don’t worry its not that tall, just high enough to get a good view of this damned forest.

Day 6

Well my little jaunt to the mountain top was a good idea. It took an hour or two just getting up there. Now one would expect to see nothing as far as civilization on a dimensional jump but wow. About 15 miles east is some kind of tree. Now wait on the judging, this thing had to be fifteen to twenty stories tall and at least as wide as a football field. And the kicker, it seems to be made of stone or crystal and there's a fucking castle in it! I can also make out a town under it.

Beyond that is a huge mountain with some kind of castle built on to the side of it, on the side! How the hell do they keep from falling off?

I'm gonna start packing tonight and head off towards the town in the morning. Of course I have to see how the inhabitants are, don’t wanna get killed if I can avoid it.

Day 7

So I packed my dufflebag with nothing but the essentials and hid the rest of my gear in the back of the cave.  Should be safe enough till I can come back for them. And as an after thought I decided to make a spear just in case I run in to that stupid manticore or something else that wants to eat me. It took a few tries but i managed to make a nice solid spear.

Anyway to trip through the woods went a lot better then I thought it would, five hours of walking instead of all day. Now this wouldn't of happened if I didn't stumble upon some kind of game trail that just so happen to go towards the town I saw. It was all fairly boring, avoid anything not familiar, avoid the local predators, and make sure I stayed on the path.
