The Dragon King
The large, black dragon glared down upon Ponyville, his mind set on destroying the thriving town once again. A twisted smile crossed the dragon king's face, exposing ranks of crooked fangs that had previously been hidden.
Pitch dropped his altitude and uttered the best way to scare the town's ponies. A tremendous bellow flowed through the air, carried by the wind that kept the drake aloft.
"Any minute now." Pitch growled, staring down at Ponyville and waiting for it's residents to panic. On cue, the screams of ponies filled the air, sending the massive dragon into a state of demented joy. With a deep, booming laugh, the cragodilian beast folded his wings tightly against his body and dove toward the ground.
"Yes... Flee, puny beings." he roared, grey smoke fuming from his maw and nostrils. Suddenly, a sphere of flame blasted from his jaws and streaked toward a building with terrifying accuracy. A thunderous explosion echoed throughout the other buildings as Pitch splayed out his talons and clawed at the remnants of the structure.
The huge dragon clumsily thudded to the gravel road, causing a small tremor in the rocky earth around him.
"Hey!" a tiny voice called. "Stop that!" it commanded. Pitch swiveled his head and looked around in an attempt to find the being. Looking down, the Kaprosuchus classed dragon lord spotted a tiny green and purple drake standing before him.
Pitch couldn't help but utter a deep laugh. "Foolish reptile," he chuckled in a rumbling voice. "you dare challenge the rule of the dragon king?"
"W-well I suppose it d-depends on y-your perspective on the s-situation." the hatchling stammered, rubbing the back of his head with a clawed forelimb.
The pitch black quadruped loudly hissed and unhinged his jaws, exposing the pair of long, gleaming fangs that are seldom used. Pitch's pupils constricted into slits as the beast glared down upon Spike, sending the tiny dragon into a sudden state of panic.
A twisted grin crossed Pitch's face as he swung around to wreak more havoc.
"I said STOP!" a voice snarled at the black drake. Pitch raised a scaled lip, exposing his long teeth, and hissed. With a large bellow, he swung around to see a larger version of the tiny Spike. The newly formed dragon stood like the legendary kaiju known to many as Godzilla. Spike's vertabrae spines had grown noticeably taller and pointier, and his tail had lengthened to a dangerous weapon.
"You have NO power to stop ME, weakling!!" Pitch bellowed, smoke flowing freely from his long jaws.
"I'll take my chances." Spike growled, lifting his claws to form a fist.
"FOOL!!" the dragon king boomed in a thunderous voice. With a furious hiss, Pitch swung around and went to swipe at the smaller dragon with his spiked tail... only to feel himself being pulled to the ground.
In a cloud of dust, the black dragon was yanked into the earth with a small tremor.
Pitch looked behind him and saw the purple and green drake with his tail in his claws. "Let... go... of my tail, you rotten piece of ugly filth." the cragodilian beast snarled, lunging at Spike with wide jaws.
"ACH!" Spike yelped, releasing the dragon's tail and dodging his large jaws.
"You will DIE!" Pitch bellowed, chasing the smaller drake with gaping jaws. Spike dared not to look behind him as the sounds of thundering footsteps grew nearer to him.
With a massive bellow, the black dragon attempted to clamp his jaws on Spike, only to slam his jaws into the ground with tremendous impact. Pitch furiously bellowed in pain and lifted his skull from the ground. With an irritated growl, the dragon shook his head and continued his chase.
Spike's lungs felt like they were on fire as he ran from the furious dragon behind him. He ran until he thought his lungs would explode, and kept running still.
Pitch was now at the last bit of patience that he once had. The tiny dragon was really starting to piss him off. In a fit of rage, a burst of flame shot from his maw.
Spike looked behind him in horror, his eyes growing wide with the fear of descending death. The purple dragon stopped and sadly turned to face the flaming sphere. He then closed his eyes and braced himself for the flash of searing pain... It didn't come. Spike hesitantly lifted his eyelids.
A wave of relief swept over him as he saw a familiar face.
"Darling, what have I said about getting yourself into trouble?" the familiar voice of Rarity said. The drake looked up and saw a glowing blue shield protecting the two from the ball of flame.
The unicorn mare then turned to Pitch. "You leave my Spikey alone!" she commanded the furious drake.
"You FOOL!" the dragon snarled, lunging at the pair, his eyes flaming with rage.
"Leave 'em be!" a voice called after Pitch. The massive dragon swiveled his head to see a cyan pegasus with a confident smirk on her face. "Yeah, you heard me! Over here wurm!" she shouted, only adding to the black dragon's anger.
With a single wing beat, Pitch was in the air, chasing after Rainbow Dash.
"You will fall at my talons! You will be nothing more than a pile of... ASH!!" the dragon boomed in response, flames licking up from the sides of his jaws.
"HEY! Over here!" somepony called, preventing Pitch from landing a successful attack on the pegasus. The dragon swiveled his head and turned to glare at the pony who called him.
"Well, if it isn't the famed WRETCH, Rex." the black dragon snarled, thundering to the ground with a twisted smirk on his face. Pitch slowly approached the stallion until he was inches away from the tyrannosaur's face. Rex could feel the hot breath blowing against his mane and tail as the dragon glared him in the eyes. "What are you going to do, HERO?" he snarled.
"I have my ways." Rex replied sternly, his yellow eyes suddenly flashing for a split second.
Pitch burst into a deep laughter, the noise echoing across Ponyville's remnants. "You must have a death wish to think that YOU can defeat the likes of ME." the drake chuckled.
"Like I said, WURM... I have my ways." the striped stallion growled in Pitch's face. He then took a step back and quietly growled.
In a matter of seconds, Pitch was faced with a twenty foot tall, forty foot long, seven ton dinosaur. "Crap." Pitch muttered with wide eyes, remembering the white dinosaur that he had fought years ago.
With a bellow that could drown out thunder, the newly formed Rex charged the dragon with wide jaws and splayed claws.
