Ponyville Caretakers

CRACK!

Dazed, I stand up as quick as I can. I turn to see where my body made impact on the tree I hit. Bits of white fur are on the tree, but I suppose that's no harm done to me aside from a few bruises that's bound to show up later.

"Quills, you alright pardner?" a voice calls out from the scene of the fight. I shake off any debris and look up. Ace Texianimo has one of the creatures held down in a head lock.

"Chip as a chipper ol' fellow," I respond, popping my neck twice and drawing my police baton, "Shall we show this thing the colour it bleeds?"

"I reckon we should, considering the threat it poses towards the town," Ace says, tightening his grip.

"Alright, you insect like bear... Thing. You're days of harassment are over!" I start charging at full speed towards it, baton in hoof, "This ends--"

"Quills, wait!" a mare's voice called out from behind, "This is one of the ones we can let through. I believe Twilight and her friends can handle this. Judging by the combat, this would be a complex, but simple task for them."

I skid to a halt, turning to face the voice I heard. My eyes meet with the gaze of Krystal Cleare. Being the intelligence in our group, she's always with us. Not to mention she's a fortune teller who has the highest accuracy in Equestria.

"So... The er... Bug Bear lives?" I ask, lowering my weapon.

"Not meaning to be rude y'all," Ace chimes in, "But it would be mighty nice if somepony told me what to do here."

"Let him go Ace," Krystal said with a gentle smile, "This one can be handled in town."

As Ace loosens his grip, the creature slams him down into the ground and flies away quickly, headed straight towards town. I reach down and help Ace to his hooves. "You okay there 'partner'?" I ask, poking slight fun at his accent.

"Dandy... Ah could really use a 'spot o' tea' to help relax," he responds in a very southern impersonation of my British accent.

"Boys, we really shouldn't linger to long in the Everfree Forest. We could attract unwanted attention from other things that reside here," Krystal said, pulling us towards her using her magic.

"I do believe you're right m'lady," I say as I start trotting back towards town, "Besides, I do believe today is a very special day for a young couple in town."

"Shucks, I forgot today was the weddin'!" Ace said in a bit of a panic, "I've got get dressed up for the occasion!" He starts to run back as quick as he can.

"Well, for an earth pony who challenges the strength and size of Big Mac, he can sure move pretty fast." Krystal said with a light smile.

Making small talk, we head back to town, thinking about the wedding and what we're gonna do for the party. A life like this is pretty normal for me and my friends, despite being beaten to a pulp and thrown around like paper. Being a Caretaker can be difficult, but this is normal to us. It may be extreme or abnormal for other ponies, but this is our contribution to the town. Despite what occurred, today was a very easy day. It's usually much harder than this, so today was nice. I hope Twilight and her friends can easily take care of the bug bear though...
