Author's Note
Hey everyone, Haven here with a new story.
To those of you who came here from Fanfiction, I apologize but the MLP stories from there will not be making their way onto this site, I am giving up on those to work on my new stories. Again I am sorry for this, and I DO wish I could finish them.....
Anyway, this story will be part of the Displaced universe. Go ahead and follow the link if you want more info on that.
This character will not be Powerful at the start of the story. But hopefully through cross-overs or power-ups he will get quite a bit stronger. Hopefully people will get right on that.... *Coughcough* Hint hint *Coughcough*
Also, quick bits of info to set all of this up.
1- The main character's name is Johnathon Carnahan. Yes he is English, though his accent is weak.
2- The main character has seen some serious shit so he will not react as strongly as much as other people might.
Anyway thank you for taking the time to read my story. And I hope you all enjoy the story. -Haven
Dawn of Creation
Out of the darkness of sleep and the oh-so-comfortable embrace of my pillow I awoke. I sat up with a yawn and rubbed my eyes, clearing the grime of sleep away as I mentally pulled myself out of sleep-mode.
As I started to slip out of bed a sudden, LOUD beeping noise from beside me made me freak out, half turn, and slug the poor, innocent clock on my bedside table with a vicious rabbit punch.
By the strength of the punch the clock un-plugged itself from the force of the impact and slammed into the wall. I winced and clutched at my bruised hand, yelping out, "Ah! Crap that hurt!" I pushed off the bed to a standing position and stretched with a sigh.
I picked up the broken pieces of a clock and put it back on the table muttering, "Gonna have to get this fixed eventually..." I then turned and walked to my bathroom at the other end of my apartment.
I sighed and turned to the mirror, revealing a scrawny and tired-looking bright blonde haired young man wearing black sweat pants and a brown Muscle shirt (Although I had none to speak of).
I winced and scratched the back of my head muttering, "Jeez..I really need to clean up." I let out a sigh and turned on the sink, splashing some water on my face to wake me up fully.
I toweled off my wet hair using a washcloth from a rack by the mirror. I turned and walked out of the bathroom, heading to the kitchen area of the apartment.
As I was about to open the fridge something grabbed my attention. A calendar stuck to the door with a magnet, with one day marked in red marker, with the spots before it checked off.
The final marker had the words 'Comic-con!' on it. I suddenly stood bolt upright and slapped myself on the forehead exclaiming, "Oh God-DAMN-it I almost forgot! Today is Comic-con!" I then quickly rushed around, tossing together a quick breakfast while prepping to head off to Comic-con.
I quickly threw together a Steampunk costume (which consisted of a Brown leather duster, Some Welding goggles, A fake Cutlass on my hip, and a Plastic shoulder-pad), and slipped out the door, closing it behind me. As I walked to my car, slipped in, and turned it on, I said, "It's going to be one hell of a Comic-con..."
*A few hours of driving later*
As I pulled up into the parking area I saw hordes of cos-players rushing into the building, filling the air with the sounds of their laughter and chatter. I got out of my car, locking the door behind me as I lowered my goggles onto my eyes, completing my outfit's look.
As I walked along I got a few compliments from the crowd about my outfit, and of course a few insults from people who hate Steampunk. As I walked around I saw many booths for games, comics, and a few movie star meet-and-sign spots.
After a little while of walking around I found a small, almost non-existent booth manned by someone wearing a outfit like the merchant from RE4. I walked over and gave a slight wave saying, "Hey man, great outfit!"
The 'Merchant' chuckled and said (In a perfect gravelly Cockney accent mind you!), "Ah, my thanks for the compliment stranger, now then...." He leaned forwards slightly, with a glint in his eyes, and said, "You wanna buy anythin' stranger?"
I tapped a finger against my chin and asked, "You got anything that would be called 'Steampunk'?"
The Merchant chuckled a few times and said, "Aaahhhh.....I may have just the thing stranger..." He then pulled out a GLORIOUS looking Black-wood Bronze Rifle from somewhere inside the confines of his coat.
My jaw dropped and I managed to blurt out, "I-is that a REAL Gun?!" The merchant put a hand over where his heart would be and said in a affronted tone, "That hurts stranger...! Of course it's a real Gun! I wouldn't sell fakes..."
I raised my hands up in front of me in a warding off gesture and said, "Okay okay...I was just surprised was all, sorry if I upset you..."
The merchant crossed his arms with a 'Harrump' and said, "Well...I was going to give it to you for free since you were a first time customer stranger...but now I'm going to want some money for it..." I sighed and shrugged, asking, "So...how much?"
The Merchant scratched the back of his head through the hood and said, "Well..I suppose 50 dollars will do..."
I gaped with my eyes wide in surprise and replied, "Wha- ONLY 50?! That's one hell of a bargain!" The merchant shrugged and said, "I suppose it is stranger...so, will you buy it?"
I was about to change my mind, thinking, "What the hell would I use a gun for anyway...?" But something stopped me. I shrugged again and pulled out my wallet, taking out a stack of bills. I sorted out 50 dollars and handed them to him.
He chuckled and said, "A good purchase stranger..hopefully it will serve you well..." I raised an eyebrow to the comment as he handed it over to me after pocketing the money.
As I grabbed it I suddenly felt a pulse of energy over-take me, and I fell unconscious hearing his voice say, "A good deal indeed....good luck out there, stranger...."
*A unknown amount of time later*
I groaned aloud at the MASSIVE headache I felt, and slowly cracked my eyes open to see green tree-branches hanging over my head, sunlight filtered through them. The air was filled with the chatter of animals as a warm breeze blew past where I was sitting. I sighed and leaned back, relaxing slightly, before my mind caught up to what was going on. I sat bolt upright and looked around in confusion and panic. I thought aloud, "A forest?! I was in a building talking to someone a moment ago!"
I stood and looked around, confused and a slight bit angry. I reached to my shoulder, trying to scratch my shoulder just under my costume, but I felt metal instead. I looked at it in confusion to see a HUGE change. I was wearing an actual Steampunk suit, not just wearing a costume anymore, even the sword on my hip seemed to have become REAL. I then noticed something else, while I had been out I had somehow grown muscles. I slowly shook my head and muttered, "That guy must have hit me with some sort of knock-out gas..."
I tried to debunk my new muscles, but they certainly felt real enough. I looked around and was about to walk forwards when I noticed the Rifle I had bought from the Merchant leaned up against a tree nearby. I looked around again, and walked up to it. I hesitated before picking it up. I looked at it for a few moments before aiming it at a tree and pulling the trigger, making it fire a blast of energy at the tree I was aiming at, leaving a rather large hole in it.
I then slipped it back over my shoulder, confusion evident on my face, it when I heard a woman's scream in the distance. I flinched in surprise, and after a moment of indecision I heard another female scream of fear making me rush off in it's direction cursing myself saying, "Why the hell'm I doin this..?!"
A few moments later I found a clearing where a few child-sized figures were cowering behind a tree as some creature that looked like something out of a horror story stood there menacing them. I stood at the edge of the clearing, filled with indecision until one of the figures screamed in fear as the monster swiped at the tree with it's claw leaving a massive gouge mark on it.
I angrilly narrowed my eyes, managing to growl out, "Oh, HELL no!" and then rushed out into the clearing, drawing my sword and holding it above my head as I ran at the beast with a roar. The monster turned and roared at me, almost making me stop. But as fear filled me I felt a rush of manic energy and I let out a answering roar and dropped downwards and slid underneath it, putting my sword above myself as I slid beneath it leaving a massive gash on it's belly, making it drop to the ground with a yowl of pain.
I quickly stood and turned, narrowly managing to block a bash from the beast's tail. I then spun the sword, cutting a slice from it's tail as it roared in pain. I stepped back, then in another rush of maniac energy, leaped forwards onto it's back, stabbing down with the sword into it's spine, giving the beast a mortal wound that would kill it almost instantly.
The monster then let out a dying gasp and fell to the ground with a dull 'Wumpf'. I pulled my Cutlass from the body and stood, wiping the blood on the blade off on my pants, then spun and sheathed my blade before turning to the figures hiding behind the tree.
I raised my hands in a placating gesture and said, "It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you, and this thing won't hurt you anymore..." The figures then walked out one by one, (There being 3 of them). revealing themselves to be....Anthro ponies?! My eyes went wide, and as I was abut to start panicking I suddenly felt an impact on the back of my head, with enough force to knock me out. Before I was fully out I couldn't help but think, "Well, this is embarrassing...."

As I slowly awoke I dimly heard a odd buzzing sound coming from somewhere nearby. I slowly opened my eyes with a groan, mumbling to himself, "Mmmbrlgrr...shut those bees up...." and raised my head, the area around me starting to come into focus.
I looked around, finding myself in a hospital room, the white walls and floor, sparkling clean. The walls adorned with charts and slogans of happiness. I couldn't see my gear anywhere in the room, but there were no restraints on me so I was fairly certain I wasn't in any sort of danger.
Then, finally, the buzzing in the distance became someone saying, "....should see if it's awake yet."
I shifted further upright just as the door to the room creaked open and a anthro woman wearing a nurse's outfit walked into the room. She stopped for a moment and put a professional, albeit nervous, smile and said, "Uh..good morning sir...Uh..can you understand me...?"
Noticing her nervousness I made no motion but said, "Yes, I can. I'm Johnathon Carnahan and you are...?"
She tilted her head, her nervousness mostly gone with my introduction. She responded, "I'm nurse Redheart....uh...if you don't mind my asking what exactly are you?" I sighed and sat up before saying, "I'm a human, and I guess I'm not exactly from around here..."
She gave me a small smile and said, "Well...a few of the Elements wanted to know when you woke up. Would you mind if I brought them in to speak to you...?"
I shook my head and said, "I don't mind..they can talk to me I suppose."
She then nodded and walked back through the door behind her. Then a few moments later the door opened and 6 figures walked in. Three of them adult women, the other three female children. The Children were looking at me with looks of apprehension and awe. But the three women were looking at me with suspicion and distrust.
Suddenly I recognized the children as the ones I had saved from the monster earlier. I Tilted my head and tried to break the ice saying, "Well....someone going to speak up or should I?"
The kids chuckled at my joke, and even two of them couldn't help but crack grins. One of the adults, who wore a stetson, walked closer and asked, "So..ya really are peaceful?"
I nodded and said, "Yes. I mean no harm to any of you. I was simply trying to help. I'm sorry if I scared anyone by killing that beast."
After I finished speaking the tension in the room seemed to lessen somewhat. However the Rainbow-haired woman still had her arms crossed and a look of suspicion on her face. She then mumbled something under her breath and left the room, sending one last glare over her shoulder as she did.
I nodded to where she had gone and said, "I'm guessing she's not the most trusting sort for new people?"
The woman with the stetson chuckled at my comment and said, "Yep..but once you get to know 'er she's a good pony to have on your side, in a fight and otherwise..."
I shrugged, got off the bed with a stretch and a sigh, then said, "Well, I suppose I should introduce myself... I am Johnathon Carnahan, a pleasure to meet you all."
I then gave a old-school Victorian-style half-bow, keeping eye contact as I did so, and asked, "And you two are....?"
The one wearing a Stetson nodded her head and said, "Ahm Applejack. The one that left was Rainbow Dash. And miss Fashion over here is Rarity."
As she was introduced Rarity gave a little bow of her own. Dipping down in the fashion of the old world ladies.
I looked down at the three children standing quietly in front of them and went down on one knee, a smile on my face, asking them in a gentle tone, "And who might you three be...?"
The three quickly smiled and the one wearing a Red bow in her hair stepped forwards, saying, "Ahm Applebloom, An' these'r mah friends Scootaloo and Sweetie bell! And together we are..."
The three of them take in deep breaths and I barely manage to (Wisely) cover my ears before they all yelled at a volume so massive I was sure people in the next nation could hear it, "THE CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS!"
I took my hands of my ears, chuckling at their introduction before saying, "Well, it's good to meet you." I then looked up at Applejack and said, "So, can I have my equipment back? I don't mean to harm anyone except if I must defend myself."
Applejack shrugged and responded, "Well, that's up to Twi' an' the princesses. For now y'all can come along with us to where Twi' lives."
I nodded and stood, adjusting my jacket, (since it had been ruffled by my being in bed while wearing it) then motioned to Applejack saying, "Lead the way, I'm right behind you."
Applejack nodded and gently ushered the three young 'Crusaders' out the door, then left the room, with me and rarity waking close behind her.
After a short while of walking we arrived at the entrance to the hospital and stepped out into the daylight. However as we did so immediately the activity around the area ground to a halt as the nearby Ponies all stopped to look at me.
(The silence was so deafening you could hear a pin drop.)
I sighed and shook my head, mumbling, "Well...this is going to be interesting...."
