"Who could that be?" I asked myself. When I opened the door I saw Rainbow dash standing in the doorframe, "Rainbow what's up?" "Twilight I need your help!" She exclaimed with a worried expression covering her face as though it was something dire. "What is it?" I pondered unsure of the situation almost expecting Equestria to be hanging in the balance. "This!" she screamed as she turned sideways to show that both her wings were limp on the ground. Examining her wings I saw that it didn’t seem to cause her any pain, at least none that I could see, "Oh my .. What happened?" "I don't know they were fine yesterday!" She broke down into tears worried over what this meant to her as a pegasus. "Now, now calm down, just calm down." I tried to calm her hoping to find a solution of some kind, I hoped it was nothing more than her wings being numb but it didn’t seem to be the case. "How can I? There is no way I could I could get on flying team now!" She wailed as tears started to flow like a river down her cheeks. "Hey it's ok we'll fix this." I tried to calm her down while raising her hopes, though still baffled as to what was the cause. Perhaps an allergy similar to poison joke? No if that was the case it would show in some odd way. “Promise?" she asked in a shaky voice followed by sobs. "Promise." I answered "Ok let see what I have on this topic." I thought it could be magical in nature, but that can’t be right it would have left something for me to follow. For several hours I poured over everything I had on the matter. Magic, potions, even nerves and muscles. But nothing seemed to pop up at the moment, so I went back to examin Rainbow’s wings hoping to find something there to point me in a direction. I felt I was overlooking something but I saw Rainbow was getting far more anxious by the second as he knee bounced faster and faster, "Nothing, nothing I have nothing no side effects no pain I don't know what's wrong with you rainbow! I'm sorry." "No!" She sobbingly screamed, "No. this is going to ruin me Twilight, ruin me!" she broke into a fit of sobs burying her face into my chest. "Hey hey It's going to be ok." I cooed hoping to keep her calm only for her to start sobbing harder, "Hey I've got an idea you stay here and I will go and get Fluttershy she's good with this stuff...okay?" rainbow dash gave a weak nod. "Ok now don't you move." Fluttershy’s cottage was at the opposite end of Ponyville near the Everfree Forest, going to her for help was the best idea I had. When I returned with Fluttershy we found Rainbow had sobbed herself to sleep on the floor, "Rainbow… RAINBOW!" I shook her. "Wha-" she mumbled with a slight imprint of her leg across her face, "I got Fluttershy." "Hi rainbow what seems to be wrong?" She asked in a soft yet concerned voice. "My wings they can't move." she mumbled just barely coming out of her nap. "Can I look at them please?" Fluttershy asked in a quiet but calm tone, Rainbow simply shrugged her shoulders as Fluttershy started picking through her feathers, "Oh..." she claimed reaching in for something. Yanking hard and fast she pulled out a rather odd insect. It was green and about 3 inches long and 1 inch wide with no eyes wings and 2 legs. "What the buck is that?!" Rainbow shrieked as her wings popped up only to have her curiosity overshadowed by the returned use of her wings, "Yes yes yes!" She shouted in excitement, "Oh thank you I don't know what I would have done!" She then flew out the door whooping and howling all the same. I stared at the odd creature unsure as to what I was looking at, "What is that thing?" "I really don't know Twilight I really don't know." Clearly Fluttershy was just as confused as I was. Containing the insect in a jar I felt it was best to bring it to Princess Celestia, if anypony had the answers it would be her. It was several hours before the Princess arrived in Ponyville, but when she had a look at the insect things seemed to go from bad to worse, "I'm afraid this is a bad turn of events." Celestia claimed as concern slowly flooded her face. "Why?" I inquired baffled as to what she knew about the oddity. "This is a Niti-nat a bug that gets in the wings of pegasus and paralyze their wings…” Bringing over a magnifying glass the Princess examined it closer hoping that her eyes were playing tricks on her, “but Niti-nats have been dead for almost 200 years." She let out a worried sigh as she set the magnifying glass away. “Oh great!” Fluttershy said in a loud voice (well as loud as Fluttershy is of course). “What?” I asked surprised at her outburst. “This bug is going to get into everyone's wings that's what!” She then threw the bug on the ground and smashed it. I was surprised at this action knowing how kind hearted she was with all creatures, “Fluttershy you killed it! It could have been the last one!” “I hope it was the last one!” we were then interrupted by a loud scream and a crash we ran outside. Looking around we soon found Rainbow lying on her back, “My wings they stopped moving, I just fell like 50 feet!” she then stood up with a lot of moaning from her new bruises caused by her fall, “Ouch!”she cried as Fluttershy pulled another Niti-nat out of her left wing “Rainbow not only this your wing is busted pretty bad.” She pointed out slightly moving Rainbow’s wing as she winced to the slight pain she felt. "No not again now I can't fly at all!" Rainbow bellowed nearly bursting into tears. Looking at the insect I felt something could be learned from it, so I snatched it from Fluttershy, "Hey!" she said sternly giving a rather unfriendly glare, her eyes trained on the insect. "I can't let you kill it." I exclaimed hoping to study it a little closer only to be startled by a book flying from halfway across the room smashing the bug, "Hey!" I shrieked startled by the unexpected book. "What!? those thing broke my wings!!" Rainbow screamed tears slowly starting to roll down her cheeks. "But we have to be careful we need to preserve it!" I tried to plead my case hoping they would see to reason. "No we don't!" Fluttershy exclaimed, "They are a thing that needs to die!" She seemed far more agitated than I had ever seen her before, and that’s counting the time she stared down that dragon. "What happened to you? you used to be so loving." "Well ponies change." She groaned almost slamming the door shut as she left. "Rainbow stay here the bed is upstairs try to get some rest." I opened the door to go after Fluttershy and see what was causing her to act this way. "O~okay" She slightly sobbed to the throbbing sting of her wing. Following Fluttershy to her house I hoped to find the answer to her sudden change, "Hey!" I shouted with a twinge of anger mixed with a bit of confusion in my voice. "What?!" She shouted in frustration. "You seem so upset today." I was concerned but felt it was best to not overstep my boundries. "Well I am!" She bellowed stopping her hoof on the ground. "Really what is wrong?" "I don't want to say ok so back off!" I had never seen Fluttershy like this before and it worried, but I wasn’t too sure if I wanted to pressure her into talking so I slowly started to turn around as she went into her cottage. "Okay, okay!" I proclaimed defensively as I started to walk, looking back I thought her reaction was more personal than she was wanting to let on. But when she was ready she would talk about it, trying to force it out of her would only harm her far more than help. When I got back Rainbow was snoring loudly and talking a little so I felt it was best not to wake her. Allowing her to rest after the events of the day was best for her at this point. As Celestia and I continued to go over what she was willing to share the sun started to set, she apologized for her early leave out of fear of these insects causing harm to Luna. It was several hours into the night and it was slowly growing dark, walking to the door to lock it I had heard mumbling from outside. Fluttershy was talking to herself pacing back and forth outside of my home, "They don't know how can they? They just don't know!" Sitting there I thought about what was going on only to be startled when she shouted, "You little bug!" I rushed out having heard her hoof stomp the ground. I rushed out of my home shouting her name though she seemed to be in a trance, she had bug up her hoof and was walking away and still talking. I never felt more sure that something was wrong with her, up till now Fluttershy had seemed to be doing just fine. Today however I wasn’t too sure what it could be, clearly something was wrong I could only guess it was something far more personal that she felt was too indecent to speak about. I tried to piece together what could be wrong with her only to hear a moan from with in my home. Rainbow slowly and groggily limped out side looking slightly worse than before, "Rainbow Get inside now!" I hollard as I rushed to her aid. "I can't!" She groaned nearly falling over, "I need some air." "Okay…” I headed her wants for the moment letting her take my shoulder for stability, “do you know what is wrong with Fluttershy?" She gave an exasperated look causing me to realize how redundant my question was, "No do you?" I sighed as I helped her take a few steps to enjoy the night air, "No." Author's Note If I should write more on this please ask I will if not I will more than likely to write more stories.
