My Dear

The inside of a dimly-lit hospital room can be shown. The beeping of a heart monitor can be heard echoing through the air; which was also mixed in with the sound of somebody's labored breathing. A small sobbing sound can be heard as well; it sounded so small, almost as if it had come from a small child. But there was no child in this room of the hospital. No, inside the room were only two creatures. One was a cream colored female pegasus with a pink mane and tail. While the other was a male draconiques; which had a brown body that was long almost like a snakes, he had the left leg of a deer, the right leg of a dragon. The front left leg of a gryphon and the right arm of a lion. On his head sat two horns; one was that of a deer, while the other was that of a goat. His entire body was covered in multiple scares and bruises. Which didn't look like something to serious; so, why did he seem to be having trouble breathing? And why did his heart beat seem to be getting fainter.

“Please, Discord.” The cream colored pegasus begged in a voice just above a whisper. She slowly moved her head closer to Discords head. Gently nuzzling the side of his face with her muzzle; before she gently kissed his cheek. Causing him to release a small pain filled moan, “Please, pull through.” She continued while a fresh stream of tears started to fall from her eyes. Slowly and gently she moved her head down to his chest. Allowing her to listen to the slow tempo of his beating heart. She could hear every pained filled breath he took; and every pained filled moan he released. Each one broke her heart; simply because she was the reason why he was in the hospital.

“I'm so sorry.” She apologized before she felt his talon gently rubbing the back of her head. She immediately turned her head upwards; allowing her to see him looking down at her. Giving her a very calm and gentle smile.

“No, need to apologize my dear.” Discord said in a voice just barely above a whisper. He heard her release a small sob; before he felt her nuzzling her muzzle into her neck. Allowing him to gently nuzzle the top of her head. He could feel her sobs moving through his body; which caused him to rub the back of her head once again. “Shh. Shh. It's okay my dear Fluttershy. It's okay.” He cooed to her.

“Please, don't try and talk Discord.” Fluttershy sobbed as she gently wrapped her arms around his neck, “Save your strength.” She continued.

Discord chuckled a little as he put his gryphon arm around her back. “Fluttershy, you already know that I'm.”

“SHUT UP!” Fluttershy said in an angered tone; her voice raised to the point of almost shouting. Taking Discord completely by surprise. “I can't loose you.” She said in a hushed voice almost close to a whisper, “I can't.” She continued only to feel him gently rub her back; allowing her to release a small sigh.

“I'm afraid neither you or me can prolong the inevitable.” Discord whispered as he felt tears of his own starting to well up in his eyes. He was trying to be strong and brave for her; except he was also having a difficult time accepting his soon to be fate, “I'm afraid we have to say.”

“I'm not ready to say good-bye.” Fluttershy interrupted as she began to sob heavily; she could feel his body growing colder by the second, and his heart beat was getting fainter, “Please....don't leave me.” She begged.

Releasing a small sigh Discord gently stroked the back of her head. Trying his best to calm her down; while he also tried to keep himself from having a breakdown. Placing a gentle kiss on her head; he began to hum the gentle tune of a song. Hoping that it would help her calm down a little.

(Please, don't cry my dear. You know when I see you weep, it always brings me to tears.)

He could feel her body shaking in sadness; it made him want to cry, but he continued to sing the song.

(Hush, please, slow your breathing. There will be plenty of time; later for you to be grieving.)

He then lifted his lion paw in front of her.

(I want you to please hold my hand. This is my hearts demand.)

A smile stretched across his face as she held his paw in her hoof.

(I want you to be strong for me. Please show me that smile that I always love to see.)

Fluttershy slowly looked up to her; she tried her best smile for him, but all she could do. Was just nuzzle him lovingly.

(I am aware of all the plans we made for the future. But, I'm sorry; to say I won't be hear for much longer.)

Fluttershy looked towards her left hoof; allowing her to see a golden band around it. Which caused her to cry a little harder.

(Just remember all the good times' that we've had. Don't remember any of the ones that were bad.)

Discord, gently nuzzled the top of her head. He could feel tears of his own falling from his eyes.

(I am aware that I am dying. And I bet your wondering why I'm not crying.)

He could feel her gently hugging him.

(That question is simple to answer my dove. I'm being held in the arms of the one that I love.)

Fluttershy started to sob loudly.

(Please, don't leave me alone. I don't think I can handle being on my own. You were the one who made me strong. Life without you would just feel wrong. I need you righter here by my side. You were always there for me whenever I started to cry. Please tell me there is something I can do. Please tell me; I don't want to lose you.)

The heart monitors beeping got a little slower.

(Listen to my words now my dear. Even though you won't see me; I assure you, I will always be near.)

Discord gently lifted Fluttershy's head up. Allowing her to look him in the eyes.

(I will still be alive in your memories and your heart. Through those two; we will never, ever, be apart.)

He then gently kissed her on the lips only to break the kiss a few seconds later.

(I'm not going to lie; I don't want to be dying. But I'm afraid; I'm being called, talk about bad timing.)

Fluttershy released a small sniffle.

(I know this is a bad time to be joking. But, the truth is; I don't want to remember you crying.)

He then started to gently nuzzle her neck; which caused her to giggle a little.

(I want to remember that beautiful laughter of yours; that I always enjoy hearing.)

Slowly he moved his head back in front of her; allowing him to look into her beautiful eyes.

(Please, stop crying my beautiful dove. After all; I'm being held in the arms of the one that I love.)

Fluttershy felt his lion paw gently wiping away her tears.

(Please, I'm not ready to say goodbye. If you die; then I want to die. You were always there for me. Please, please, this cannot be. This hast to be a bad dream. I'm so angry at life right now I want to scream. Please, don't leave; you belong here with me.)

Discord released a loud moan of pain. As his vision started to slowly fade.

(You have no idea how much pain I'm in. deep down, you know I want the pain to end.)

Fluttershy, gently kissed the side of Discords face.

(Please, no more tears my dear. I'm going to be okay; so please have no fears.)

Discord tried to reassure her by gently rubbing the side of her head. But, it did little to help her calm down.

(I'm so happy that I'm spending the last moments of my life with you. (Don't say that; there must be something I can do.))

The heart beat monitor started to beep slower.

(I can see the light; it looks so beautiful. (No, stay away from it. This is so painful.))

Darkness started to over take Discords vision.

(It's time for you to say goodbye. (Please, no. it's not time for you to die.)

Fluttershy started to sob once again.

(It's time for me to go. (Please don't do this to me. Please, no.)

Discord made her look into his eyes once again.

(I'm so happy and warm right now my dove. (Please, watch over me from above.)

Both of them shared a passionate kiss; breaking a minute later.

(Because I'm being held in the arms of the one I love.)

The heart beat monitor then flat-lined. Becoming nothing but a long continuous beep. Discords body went limp and his eyes closed forever. Releasing a sob filled with nothing but sadness; she hugged his body close to hers. But, just as soon as his body made contact with hers. It turned into nothing but small particles of dust. Which was immediately blown out the window. Fluttershy began to cry uncontrollably; she was upset at life, and she was angry at herself. She then sucked in a large breath of air and screamed.

“DISCORD!”

“DISCORD!” Fluttershy screamed as she violently sat up in her bed; her heart beating violently in her chest. While she panted loudly; trying to process what she had just dreamed about. Her hooves gripped her blankets tightly; while her body trembled and shook in fear. Slowly; she scanned the dimly-lit area around her. Allowing her to see that she was in hers and Discords; releasing a loud gasp she looked towards the right side of the bed, and saw that Discord was no longer there.

“Discord?” Fluttershy called out as she slowly got out of the bed. Slowly she walked towards the door of the room and opened the door. Allowing her to walk out to the hallway and towards the top of the stairs, “Discord?” She called out again as she descended the stairs; hearing the creaking loudly with every step that she took. Once she reached the bottom; she saw a small light coming from her kitchen, “D..D...Discord?” She called out once again; once she reached the entrance she saw a sight that made her come to a complete stop. There inside the kitchen was Discord; who had just finished drinking a glass of water. “Discord.” Fluttershy sighed causing him to jump before he turned to face.

“Fluttershy?!” Discord said as he stared at the trembling mare. “I'm so sorry, dear. Did i-mph!” He released a loud grunt as Fluttershy suddenly tackled him. Causing him to fall to the floor; with her hugging him tightly, as tears fell from her eyes.

“Fluttershy, what's wrong? Are you okay?” He asked in complete shock.

“I'm so happy you're okay, Discord.” Fluttershy replied as she rubbed her head against his chest, “I'm so happy.” She whispered.

Discord only had a look of confusion appear on his face as he felt the mares hold on him tighten. Releasing a sigh he returned her hug; holding her close to his body. While he gently rubbed her back trying to calm her down. He then gently pressed his forehead against hers; allowing him to see what she had seen in her dream. Releasing a sigh he gently kissed her on the lips and picked her up. He felt her nuzzle her muzzle into his chest; staining it with her tears. That continued to flow like endless salty rivers.

“I'm so scared, Discord.” Fluttershy whimpered.

“Shh. Shh. It's okay I'm here.” Discord whispered into her ear, “I'm here.” He continued.

(Listen closely to my words my dear. Because I am gonna take away your fear.)

He felt her wings wrap around him; wrapping him in a warm, feathery, blanket.

(I do not want to see you're tears. I don't want to hear your cries in my ears.)

He gently rubbed the side of his head against hers.

(I hate seeing you like this; when you're happy, it puts me in a stare of bliss.)

Fluttershy released a small sob; as a few more tears fell from her eyes.

(It was just a dream my dear. So please let go of your fear. Because I am right here.)

Discord gently rubbed the back of her head; trying his best to calm her down.

((Remember the first day that we kissed. I swear to god that was nothing but pure bliss. Remember the day I made you slap my face. Because I said that I was nothing but a disgrace. I remembered the pain I saw in your eyes. As I hear the pain in your cries. I remember when you held me close to your body. As you said that I was not a nobody. You were there for me my dear so now let me help you with your fear.))

Fluttershy released a sobbing gasp as she hugged Discord tighter.

(Please try and slow down your breathing. There is no need for you to be grieving. Because you are no longer dreaming.)

Discord gently nuzzled the side of her head. Trying his best to help her calm down.

(I can feel you shaking in my arms. I promise to protect you from any harm.)

Fluttershy can be heard releasing a small happy sigh.

(Feel my hand gently running through your hair. I'm showing that I truly care.)

Discord slowly stood up; lifting Fluttershy up bridal style.

(There is no need to be afraid my dear. Because I am right here.)

Fluttershy gazed lovingly into Discords eyes; only to gently kiss him on his cheek.

((Remember the day I proposed to you. I swear that you screamed till you turned blue. I remember how beautiful you looked dressed in white. In our hearts we knew this felt right. I'll admit I was scared at first my dear. But because you were there I had no fear.))

Discord started to walk towards the stairs; as he walked he could feel Fluttershy snuggling into her chest.

(Just relax and lay back down. I'm hear now there is no need to frown.)

He then started to walk up the stairs back up to their room.

(I know that the dream is the one to blame. But right now; let my love be your flame.)

Fluttershy started to cry once again; but this time these were tears of joy.

(Listen closely my dear. It's time to let go of your fear.)

Once at the top of the stairs he started to walk towards the door to their room.

(Just go ahead and close your eyes. I'll be here when you wake; this is not a lie.)

Once he opened the door he slowly walked towards their bed and gently placed her on the bed.

(Listen very closely my dear. You have nothing to fear.)

He then got into the bed and lied down next to her. Gently wrapping his arms around her as she snuggled into his warm chest.

(Because I am.................right here.)

Just before both of them had given in to the comfort of sleep; Fluttershy, slowly moved her head close to Discords ear. Only to whisper three small words, “I love you.” Discord happily smiled before he he whispered back, “I love you too, my dear.” Both of them then fell into the comforting embrace of sleep. Smiling happily as they both held each other.
