At the center of the Everfree, in a forgotten cave sat upon a mismatched throne is Discord. Across from him was a mirror not unlike the one Celestia had save for the marking around the edge. The cave was bathed in a pink light and smelt of chocolate milk.
It’s been a month since the incident with Tirek much of which Discord has spent fixing the damage he caused helping him. However during the course of the recovery Discord had been changing, some would say for the better, as he worked. He would be less inclined for pranks or bouts of random activity, his sense of humor had diminished significantly, but most startling of all was his powers had been steadily becoming more difficult to control until he had to focus for even the simplest, for him, of spells. One simple fact screamed at him, Discord was dying.
Discord sighed, should have seen it coming, really. After all his predecessor had met the same fate in a similar manner. Still between the centuries that passed, the disappointment in his failure, and the comfort of Fluttershy, it simply slipped his mind till now. Now who should take over. Certainly not a pony, they simply love their order. The dragons are too instinctual, zebras too in love nature, diamond dogs too dull, monitors too reclusive, changelings ruined their chance at fame with the invention, while the griffins are more likely to kill than spread chaos.
After a moment of brooding (though some would say it was more akin to disjointed lunacy) an unnaturally wide smile spread across Discord’s face as thought came to mind. If I can’t find one here I’ll just have to think outside my dimension. With a thought the the markings around the mirror began to glow and showed a world similar yet at the same time different than the one Twilight visited in the Crystal Empire. As Discord scrolled through his options he found the perfect candidate. “Oh, Celly will just hate my present.” He said with a hearty laugh.

What Discord decided was not to chose an almighty king, no brilliant scientist, or some emotional teen, no he chose an old man his left eye was dull and sightless with his right being a faded blue, his right leg was missing below the knee; wrinkles and liver spots were visible all across his pale, sickly skin lying in a room that smelled of medicine and decay.
Earth being home to a plethora of residents, as such one may wonder why Discord chose a man of 102 on his deathbed in America. Well it might be easy to simply state ‘why not’ there actual reasoning behind it. You see Ronald White is a retired lawyer making him someone how knows how to make the rules work for him, as stated he’s on his deathbed so no one would find it odd if he departed, and he’s seen war for what it is and will avoid it, and killing, at all cost because of it. All and all he seems to be a perfect candidate. Well that and Discord wanted an to see an american dealt with a world of monarchies.
So it was Ron was witness to the oddest sight he’s seen in his long life, a weasel chimera materializing in his room out of literally nowhere. Understandably he assumed that he was losing his mind towards the end. “Well” he said with a dry, weak chuckle “I can’t say I know where my mind came up with you. I was expecting my hallucinations to consist of the Grim Reaper, not a child's fever dream.” His voice was soft but still managed to hold life and humor.
Understandably Discord being none too pleased with this description. “ I take offence to that, my good sir, at the very least I’m a hippy’s acid trip. Besides I’m more than real to you and in the end that’s all that really matters, isn’t it.” With flourish Discord created a chair to sit in now sporting a black suit and sunglasses; in each claw as a pill one blue and one red. “I’m sure you know the choice before you, but I wish to modify it a little. You see I’m in a predicament much like you, I’ve outlived my years and am coming to the End. The choice you see is to take my soon to be vacant spot as Equus’ spirit of chaos.”
Skeptical as he was to this being real Ron decided to play along with the hallucination just to see where it went. ¨Well if this is how spend my last days, why not?¨ With that Ron picked the red pill up before swallowing it. At which Discord muttered “Here we go.”

Ron awoke in a void it as he looked around he became conscious of the fact that he was no longer old; instead he looked as he had when he was 25. His skin was a golden tan, his eyes where and electric blue both unblemished once more, while his leg was once more in it's palace; his hair was a dark brown stopped at the bottom of his neck. Than Discord appeared much as he had in Ron’s room, his face was somber, something anyone who knew him would say was unnatural, and when he spoke his voice was without the normal indifference or joy it normally held. “I will be using the last of my energy to give you the rundown of how Equus works and the powers that reside there. I will also tell you how to avoid dying until you’re ready, a spirit of chaos, in Equus at least, dies when they produce a substantial amount of order without any chaotic counter balance.”
Ron, still believing this to be a fabrication of his mind, decided to play along until his body gave out in the wakening world. If nothing else I'll be entertained until the end. His voice was once more strong and rich as he spoke, "How do we start?"
