The mystery of the Everfree
Must find its meaning! But how? He probably knows, but I can't let him know I have it! I can't have those......whatever they are attack Ponyville! Ponies could die, judging by what they've done to the Everfree Forest animals. He checked his watch. Ok, I should probably go now. I need food, for myself and for the things. Plus, who knows? I could possible get some info about this thing. The guy looked at the staff one last time, and put his cloak on, ready to get to Ponyville.
Fluttershy was searching for some supplies for her pets at the market, when she saw him.
Who is he? The only place I've seen him is here, in the market! And he's always wearing that cloak. Is he hiding something? Fluttershy thought as the stallion went up to the information booth. He pulled a medium sized bag of bits a put it on the counter, and nervously glanced around.
He looks nervous. Well, I better get back to buying the food and supplies! Angel doesn't like it when I take too long! So Fluttershy continued with her supply shopping. As she paid for the carrots, she turned around and accidentally ran into someone.
"Oh my, I'm sorry!" she said as she stepped back. Then she realized who it was.
It's him! she thought, and looked around. She realized that the booth she was at was across from the information booth. The one that the stallion had been at earlier. She was brought back to reality a few seconds later when the stallion cleared his throat.
"You're standing on one of my papers," he said, pointing to her front left hoof.
"Oh! I'm sorry!" she said as she lifted her hoof and backed up a little. The stallion tilted his head.
"Are you ok?" he asked.
"Yes! I'm fine!" Fluttershy squeaked. The stallion took a step closer.
"Are you sure?" he asked.
"Yes. I have to go now!" Fluttershy said, as she turned and ran home.
What an interesting mare, he thought, and glanced at the sky. She might be in danger know. I must learn who she is to protect her if she is.
When Fluttershy got home, Angel was waiting by his food bowl.
"Sorry I'm late!" Fluttershy said. "The lines were longer then expected!" And that guy kind of threw me off, she mentally added. She started filling the bowls up with food (Angel was first, of course) when there was some nocking on her door.
Who could it be? No one was going to stop by to adopt a pet! Fluttershy thought as she opened her door and gasped. It's him!
"What? Is there something wrong with my hair?" the stallion asked.
"No, sorry, I just wasn't expecting anyone to stop by!" Fluttershy said. The stallion started waving his hoof around.
"You are not suspicious of anything," he said. "You want to follow me home for safety!"
"Um, what?" she asked, confused.
"It didn't work, did it?" he asked, then sighed. "You may be in danger, and I find your lack of defenses disturbing!"
"Why do I need defenses?" Fluttershy asked. The stallion shrugged.
"Who knows? Anything could happen! But there is something coming, and you seem like a nice pony. I wouldn't want you to get hurt," he said, glancing nervously at the sky.
"Um, ok. So, other then that, was there anything that you needed?" Fluttershy asked.
"I don't think so. Just be careful, ok? You can never be too paranoid," he said mysteriously as he turned and started walking away.
Ok, what just happened? Fluttershy thought as she watched him walk away. Oh, wait, what's his name? And why is he heading for the Everfree Forest?
"Wait, what's your name?" she asked, raising her voice so he could hear her (he was already sort of far away). He didn't respond, and entered the Everfree. Who is he? Why did he enter the Everfree? I live right by it, and I only enter it when I have to! He's probably going to come out soon. She waited for him to exit for about 5 minutes, and when he didn't exit, she started to freak out a little. Was he attacked? Or does he have a house that he can quickly get to through it? Twilight probably knows.
"Oh, hi Fluttershy!" Spike said as he opened the door. "What do you need?"
"I need Twilight's help with something," Fluttershy said.
"My help with what?" Twilight asked, coming down the stairs.
"There's this guy that I met at the market, and he followed me home, and he walked into the Everfree Forest, but never exited! Do you know anything about him?" Fluttershy asked. Twilight giggled.
"Fluttershy, no one in their right mind would go into the Everfree, unless they needed to see Zecora. However, do you know why he followed you home?" Twilight asked.
"Yeah, he was saying something about defending my house against something," Fluttershy said. Twilight frowned.
"I think I remember Zecora saying something about a guy like that once," Twilight said.
"So I need to see Zecora. Thanks Twilight! Bye!" Fluttershy said as she flew out of the castle.
"Ok, thank you Zecora!" Fluttershy said as she flew out of Zecora's hut.
I know she says he's kind of dangerous, but I must find him! He's been alone for his whole life, supposedly, and no one should have to do that! No matter how dangerous they think they are! Ok, I must find this cave that Zecora said he lives in. I must befriend him! Wait, I think she said it was camouflaged, Fluttershy thought as she searched the Everfree. She glanced at the ground for a few seconds to check for hoof prints, and when she looked up again, she was barreling towards a tree. She yelped in surprise, and managed to doge. However, in her attempt to doge the tree, she didn't see the cliffside that she was en route towards. This time, she didn't try to stop, she just closed her eyes and waited for the pain. When a few seconds passed without any pain, she reopen her eyes, and managed to stop.
Wow, where am I? she thought as she admired her surroundings.
