Chapters Chapter Three: Help from a Friend
"So... this is your story?" asked Abigail's friend, Her Friend. "Yep!" said Abigail. "Isn't it great! We've got Fluttershy in it! I mean, that's the best part! The story is also completely original, too. She falls through the clouds and meets all of her pony friends, all thanks to Rainbow Dash! She gets her cutie mark, and everything is happy, and-"
She was cut off by Her Friend. "I must say... that story sounds an awful lot like The Cutie Mark Chronicles."
Then she realized that was the truth. She'd convinced herself that this was her idea; that all of this was her skill, her talent, and yet here she was, plagiarizing a episode from MLP! She felt horrible, like she was a wanted criminal. Now no one would ever see her skills that she had...
Next thing Her Friend knew, Abigail was crying. She was wailing so loud China could hear her. "Abigail, what on earth is wrong?" "Everything is ruined. Let's face it... all that talent I thought I had is all fake. Everything I brought myself up to be... is a lie. What if no one likes me? What if I don't make a good first impression on the internet? What i-"
"So, you mean," Her Friend said, "that you want to do this to feel good about yourself?"
"YES, IT'S TRUEEEEE" she cried, almost screaming. "There's no way to ever get myself out there... for people to like me."
Her Friend wanted to say this was just Abigail being Abigail. She was like this a lot. But still, she wanted to help her friend, and she wouldn't leave her behind.
"Listen, Abigail. You may feel like a failure, like the entire world is against you. But the world is not. You are a wonderful person in your own right. You don't need to "put yourself out there" on the Internet! Heck, many people on the Internet you "friend" don't really know you! Anyway, this fanfiction is clearly giving you huge stress. I suggest you can stop. Unless maybe..." She got an idea. "You want to work on it with me?"
Abigail stopped crying, and managed to oh so slightly smile. "You... really mean that?" "Yes, I do," said Her Friend. "and we'll enjoy it. You'll feel less stressed when someone is there to help you. Unless, you don't want to do it..."
Abigail interrupted her so fast. "YES OF COURSE I DO! LET'S GET TO WORK!"
So Abigail and Her Friend sat the computer, ready to type the best fanfiction the world had ever seen.
Chapter 0: The Beginning of Everything
"Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, whatever shall I do?!"
Poor 13-year old Abigail was running around a house like some crazy person.
"WHAT TO WRITE, WHAT TO FREAKING WRITE!"
Her mom was extremely confused. "Abigail dear, why are you so nervous? Is this that usual panic attack senario you have? You got an F on your paper? Not everything is perfect? You are thinking about some completely random end of the world story?"
"Mom, I have MAJOR problems."
"Well, spit it out!"
"I want to write..."
Her mom stood there. A research paper? Was this big?
"An MLP fanfiction."
Her mom just stared at her. Then she burst out laughing.
Chapter One: Original Ideas
Once opon a time, far far away in a world distant from ours, there lived a unicorn named Twilight Sparkle. She was a very smart pony that loved to read.
"I wonder what book I should read next!" said Twilight.
"Maybe you should read "The Nightmare Spirit; Why It Is Totally Dangerous to Equestria?" suggested Spike.
"Yeah, I guess so." said Twilight. "Hey, do I feel my imaginary presence suddenly fading away?"
"Argh, that's not good enough!" said Abigail. "Curse you writer's block!"
She'd had it for two weeks. That was why she got a D on her essay paper four days earlier. It seemed she would never come out of it. She hoped she would, but alas it never came to pass.
"Dear, why don't you go play outside?" said her mom. "It's a nice day. Maybe you can do something outside to forget about this "fanfiction" stuff."
"THAT'SITIKNOWEXACTLYWHATTODOTHANKSMOM" she said so fast it seemed like one word. Her poor mom was so confused as she rushed out the front door.
Abigail began to study the surroundings.
"I can use the people's hair color, body shape, and more to find NSOOC! That, to her, stood for Not-So-Original OC. "I can make a story based on them! It will be brilliant!"
However, she had trouble finding anybody with crazy hair dye or anything otherwise Technicolor. As she studied the surroundings, more ideas kept forming that kept being thrown in the mind trash can.
"Rainbow Dash was flying through the sky doing her usual day job, when suddenly a mysterious shadow-"
"Nah, that's not quite right."
"Applejack was bucking apples when Fluttershy passed by. Applejack said "Hey Fluttershy, how you doing?" Fluttershy said she was doi-"
"ARGH NO!"
She sighed. Not only was she not finding the designs she wanted for her NSOOCs with everyone being bland and ideas once again destroying themselves, Abigail sighed. She made her way back home as her mind trash can filled to the brim.
Chapter Two: Depression=Ideas
Abigail sighed as she walked home. She sulkily went to lay down in her bed without even telling her mom, who was watching TV, that she was home. She flopped on her bed, horribly depressed.
"Ugh, nothing is good enough! No matter what ideas I make, they just don't fit what I want! Only problem is I don't know what I want... I wish there was some way I could know!" thought Abby.
Just then her mom came walking through. "Abigail! Why do you look so sad, sweetheart?"
"I can't do this anymore! I can't write this fanfiction. It's just too hard! Ideas aren't coming, everything is falling apart. I'm sorry I didn't tell you I came home..."
"Oh sweetheart, its ok. You'll need to get through this depression like everyone else does, and everything will be right back to normal."
Then Abigail's gears began to turn... fast. "Wait... depression... getting through it... back to normal... I know!"
"Know what?" said Abigail's mom.
"That's what I'll write my fanfiction about! A pony that is struggling through depression, but with the help of friends and family learns to get through it! Thanks mom, you are the best!"
Abigail was gone, rushing back to her computer downstairs.
"Seriously? Me and my mouth." said her mom.
Far far away, there lived a pony.
Her name was Fluttershy.
For as long as she could remember, she had been struggling with depression. She seemed happy, sure, but she was hiding her true feelings under a shy facade. In reality her personal life was terrible. Both of her parents had excommunicated her abruptly for no reason at all (then again they were just a little insane) and everyone pushed her around, using her like a doormat you step on.
Everything changed, however, when she met her friends.
She first remembered Rainbow Dash, starting her race against those that bullied her. Rainbow Dash was the only one that ever showed her any kindness, after all.
Then the race started.
And that cloud gave under her feethooves.
"AHHHHHHHHH" screamed Fluttershy, as she was falling to the ground. She had always been living in Cloudsdale, so she had no idea what the ground looked like. She was convinced that it was a horrible place. So as she was falling closer to it, she was yelling screaming like crazy.
"This... is... PERFECT!" screamed Abigail. "There's no way anything could get in the way of this! I have to show my friend. Shes' an MLP fanatic. Perhaps she can help me with proofreading." So she ran out the door, ready to greet Her Friend.
