In Which A Blue Mare Meets The Day
The sun rose on another cheery, happy day in the little town of Ponyville. At least, it had done so several hours prior to this story beginning, but stories need to start somehow!
Suddenly, the door to a small, metal shack in between buildings burst open, and a blue blur of pony flew out. She landed on all fours; posing heroically, of course! Protagonists always pose heroically.
The mare was a blue unicorn, with dark, swirling shapes on her body, dark tattoos; Her mother had always told her they were markings from the tribe she’d grown up in, to show the position she’d have had she stayed. This mare just thought they looked really cool. She looked around with her mismatched eyes, mostly to give a reason for them to be described. Her left eye was a bright, emerald green, and her right eye was a deep, lush purple. She reached up, ruffling her short, messy blue mane; Or was it cyan? Hard to really tell.
Finally, her cutiemark was a purple book, with a green-feathered quill laying on top of it. Giggling happily, she burst out of the alley she resided in.
“I, Sky Goshdarn Awesome Blue, need… A deteuragonist!” She said, determinedly, zipping through town, looking for someone interesting to harass into co-starring in her story.
After her seventh rejection, the mare huffed, throwing her bundle of contracts into the air, watching a passing pegasi enter the cloud of discarded paper and go flying into a nearby tree. Ignoring that, Sky zipped off again, humming as she looked for something to do, having forgotten what she’d just been doing as quickly as she got bored of doing it.
Humming, she skidded to a halt in the town square, where a dark purple mare, her pink mane streaked with black as she shouted at the shocked crowd about the growing threat of object mages, and how they needed to be eradi… And then Sky got bored, wandering off.
Object mages… Hey, Sky was one of those! The blue mare giggled, and waved a hoof as she walked, almost tripping and landing on her face. As she waved her hoof, her horn flashed, and a cookie dropped onto her head, balancing precariously.
“I’m a cookiewitch!” She said, to a passing tree. Or… A tree she was passing. She didn’t really take notice.
Suddenly, she skidded to a halt.
"WAIT. OH MY GOSH." She spun around, and zipped off.
"I forgot that I have a dramatic showdown with a possible villain in a few minutes! Ahhh!" she cried, ponies leaping to get out of her way as she darted off.
--
Finally, she slammed hard into a wall, halting her rapid movement. A group of fillies that had been playing a complicated game of patty cake looked up, as she wandered over, juggling cookies... Somehow. She sat down with them, giggling as she shared the baked treats, and joined in on their game.
Getting bored of the fillies, and feeling like they were getting in the way of Sky's progress towards VICTORY OVER EVIL, she kickflipped away from them, humming as she wandered towards a small stage in the centre of the small town square; the executive town square, as it was usually called, by blue mares named Sky Blue that were also this exact mare.
Humming, she slithered up onto the stage, standing up and waving her hooves. Horn glowing, she began to summon, and juggle cookies. A crowd gathered, slowly, which only drove her to do more. Eventually, Sky was balanced on the back of a tiger made out of cookies, juggling three with one hoof and balancing on on her nose, her other hoof held out for balance.
However, her show was interrupted by a loud bang, the cookies under her exploding, sending Sky tumbling to the stage, landing on her butt.
"Owww!" Sky cried, wiggling aggressively. Ponies scattered away from the stage, showing a cloaked mare, standing a little ways behind where the crowd had been. She seemed slightly surprised.
"I... didn't mean for them to explode." She said, quietly. Sky giggled, rubbing her forehead.
"Oh, don't worry, they do that sometimes!" She said, standing up.
"Now, who are y- urk!" Sky was silenced as two massive pieces of bread appeared, and smooshed against her, keeping her stationary.
"SILENCE! ENOUGH TALK!" The cloaked mare roared, waving her hooves.
"Cookiewitch, for too long have you held the spotlight over more powerful, more regal, more awesome object mages than me!" She cried, placing a hoof on her chest, face conveniently hidden under her cloak.
"Whoops! Sorry!" Sky cried.
"Oh, it's okay!" the cloaked mare giggled.
"This is just for DRAMATIC TENSION!"
Suddenly, she threw off her cloak, cackling madly. Underneath was a pale brown mare, with a darker brown mane. She wore a tomato-red vest, over a lettuce-green shirt, with a red pouch strapped to her left forehoof, and the same coloured socks on her hindhooves.
"They're BOOTS!" The mare shouted, wiggling her hooves, on which were boots.
"Thank you." She cleared her throat, turning back to Sky.
"COOKIEWITCH, MEET YOUR MATCH!" She cried.
"I am Lucille, and I..." She ducked her head.
"AM THE SANDWITCH!" She cried, fireworks exploding behind her, sending the last few nearby ponies with morbid curiosity skittering for cover.
Sky, sitting in front of the pieces of bread meant to be her prison, applauded politely.
"Bravo, bravo!" She threw a rose at Lucille, which landed in her mouth.
"Thank you, thank you!" Lucille mumbled, through the rose. She bowed deeply, then spat out the rose.
"Hang on, what was I doing?" She frowned, looking up at a nearby lamppost, from which her cloak hung.
"Oh no!" She jumped up, scrabbling to grab it.
"Dangit, I had that custom made!" She said, frustratedly.
Sky wandered over, smiling.
"Need some help, miss evil witch?" She asked. Lucille nodded, and stepped aside, as Sky climbed the lamppost like some sort of strange blue monkey, fishing the cloak down and handing it to Lucille.
"Thanks!" The Sandwitch said, gratefully, hugging Sky.
"I need to look really cool, so I need a cloak." She said. Sky nodded thoughtfully, rubbing her chin.
"That's right... HEY!" She suddenly pulled Lucille close.
"Let's be best friends!" Sky said, excitedly.
Lucille gasped.
"Oh my gosh, YES. I don't even remember who you are, but that is like the best idea. Let's do that." She giggled happily, patting her new friend's back.
Sky whooped, and zipped off, dragging Lucille up onto the stage, sharing a non-exploded cookie and milk with her.
And so the first chapter ended; But who was the odd mare mentioned in the sixth paragraph? Will she be important? Probably not!
Will Sky find more friends? Or more VILLAINS? And most importantly, were those contracts biodegradable? If not, Sky's going to be getting a ticket! Tune in next time, for In Which A Blue Mare Discovers Steam (Working Title)!
