Time Travel: The Good Ole Days
Feeling around for the cup of orange juice, Ditzy was extra careful. She had spilled it three times that day, just trying to find it. What's a good breakfast if you can't have good old Orange Juice with it? Finding it, she brought her other hoof to it's other side, lifted it, and drank it quickly, downing the whole thing.
"Finally! Thats what ah'm talkin about!"
Setting the cup ont eh table, or rather in the air next to her, she hear it shatter against the floor.
"Gosh dang it!"
"Are you alright Miss Ditzy Doo?", the doctor asked as he entered. Seeing the shattered glass, he walked to the other side.
"So, no pain, no feeling?"
"Still, my eyes are shut, ya know, and, really, I don't feel my eyes when they are shut."
"Well, still, it's a good thing. It's good news to me. And in return, I will also give you good news. We take your bandages off today!"
"Finally! I've been waiting for two weeks-"
"Three."
"Three weeks to get this thing off my head! Now, I can finally see! I can get a better job, I can-"
"Calm down Miss Ditzy Doo. Now, lay back and the nurse will be in here shortly."
Ditzy did as told, staying still as she waited anxiously. As the sound of light steps entered the room, derpy spoke out.
"Is that the nurse?"
"Yes, I am the nurse. Ready to get those bandages removed?"
"Boy, am I!"
"Ok then lets get them off, please hold still."
As the cold metal just grazed her skin, the bandages fell partly, removed afterwards by gentle hooves.
"Ok, now, open your eyes."
Derpy slowly opened her eyes, the dimmed light in teh rooms easy to see in, but not hurting.
"Now blink a few times."
Derpy blinked a few times, like told, smiling birghtly.
"Ok, now, we are going to turn the lights on, so you might not be abel to see for a minute or two."
As the light was flipped on, Ditzy shielded her eyes in attempt to get used tot eh brighter light. soon, she was looking around in the well lit room, happy as can be.
"I can see straight! No mroe screwed up depth perception, no moe collisions! Life is so much better now!"
"Well, atleast you're happy. You can leave when you want, just stop by the front desk first."
"Yes sir!"
With that, Ditzy threw the covers off of her and trotted out, stopping by the front desk as well.
"So you finally got em fixed, how good for you."
"I can't pay with cash, can I?"
"No ma'am, you can't."
"Good, cause I only have checks anyway!", Ditzy laughed, flaring her wings and flipping her head back.
"Thank you all so much!"
"Don't mention it, it's our job. Now, here's the bill, and good afternoon!"
Ditzy took the folder given to her and ran out fo the building, taking off in flight. But not before passing The Doctor as he entered the building himself.
As Ditzy Doo flew, she looped around a few things. A tree, a branch, through a tree, a cloud, even a house. As she got to her work place, the post office, she stopped outside the door, closing her eyes with ehr head high as she walked in."
"Ditzy Doo, you're out of the hospital! Great, I need a delivery done to your house, you're fired."
Ditzy stopped her high strung thoughts, and actions, her eyes wide open as she stared at the chief poststallion.
"Wait, what?! I just got my eyes fixed today!"
"What?"
"No mroe collisions, no more mistaken addresses, no more excuses of poor eye sight!I swear!!"
The stallion thought for a second.
"Ok, I'll give you another week. If you do better than you used to, I'll let you off the hook, even give you a raise to help pay for the bill."
"Oh, no need for the raise, I can pay it in full already."
"No, no, if you do better, I will seriously give you a raise, cause after four years of crashes, wrong deliveries, and such, I mean, this'd be a break for us all."
"Fine, I'll take the raise."
"Good. Now, uh, since you just got out, I won't ask you to come in to work till tomorrow, customs of mail delivery services."
"Thanks boss!"
"Hey, don'e mention it."
Ditzy Doo smiled once more, turning aroudn to leave, only to collide with something really solid. As she got to her hooves, she lookedat what she hit, thinking it would've been a doorway frame, but it wasn't. A large crate which was placed behind her. Simple mistake.
"Oh, sorry about that Di-Hey! You got your eyes fixed!", th stallion half apologized.
"Sure did! Now, I gotta go."
"Ok, sorry to get in your way."
The stallion picked up the crate, moving out of the way for Ditzy to fly out of the post office. Though as she began to take off, she came to an abrupt stop, skidding into a brown stallion that almost appeared in her way. Putting the two into a tumble, Ditzy doo fell onto her back, the stallion on top of her in an embarrassing position.
"Oh, sorry.", The Doctor rose first.
"Oh, hey Doctor, hows it goin?"
"Yeah, well, the techno-geek talk for the week is cancelled."
"Aww, but I like it when I get so in depth into the one thing barely anyone else knows!"
"I've got something better. You'll love it. Follow me."
Ditzy followed behind The Doctor for a few blocks before he lead her into and alley where a door stood on the side of the wall, one which didn't fit the worn brick siding, as it was made of wood that was too new.
"What are we doing in an ally?"
"entering this door."
"What's so special about this door?"
The Doctor opened it, showing the brick wall ont he other side.
"Oh, my bad, mistake one of the day. Remember what I spoke to you about how easy it was to morph and change a transcendental dimensions?"
"Yeah, but I don't see how it would work. You'd have to have a large amount of energy-"
"Hold that thought and watch."
Takign out a key fromt he side of the door, same color, and what seemed to be, the same material. He unlocked the lock and reopened the door, showing a dark interior that was not there before.
"W-what?", Ditzy was surprised.
"Yes, Transcendentally Dimensional door. It's a new addition to whats inside, also known as the Tardis."
"You mean, that bluff you made was real?!"
"Fo shizel!"
"What?"
"Oh, nothing, I was just making a bad joke there. Well, what are you waiting for? Come on in!"
Entering in the door, The Doctor turned ont eh ligths, illuminating the inside of the darkened space. Ditzy smiled, rushing in as the door closed behind her.
"Now, we are currently in the present of our time, can move forwards, backwards, or sideways in time."
"Theres a sideways in time travel?"
"Oh, yes, switching the way time flows. It coudl flow backwards where we go, or flow forwards. You and I wouldn't be affected and we couldn't interact with anyone, but it's a price for the sight."
"Wow, so we can actually time travel? How!"
"This, the Tardis!"
"Oh."
"And here is my question that decides whether or not you will be amazed. Would you like to travel two hundred years into the future and live there for the remainder of your life, or not?"
"Oh, thats a good offer, but I have a life here."
"My dear, I can understand if you love your life here, but with a Tardis, I can go back in time and change your life, making this the deal of a life time. It already is, so why would I?"
"So, what would you do?"
"Well, I can ruin your relationship with your first love, making sure Dinky Doo was never born, I can make sure your eyes just stopped working altogether, easier to do than you think, as the hit taken in that contruction sight is easily changeable."
"Whoa, that's kinda creepy."
"but thats only if you want convincing. If I wanted to make you, I would have stolen you as a filly, and brought you to the future with me."
"Why would I accept any of this?"
"Because it's the future, who wouldn't want to?"
"People with a life."
"Exactly, so, what'll it be?"
"Will I get to return, or take anyone with me?"
"Actually, this is a decision if you want your past self to go into the future two hundred years from now. If you make this decision, I will take you to the futre after you left your parents, and ran away."
"You...How do you know about that?"
"Well, I am guilty for this, as it was done on purpose, but, the event took place during a little problem I had to fix a few years ago. I saw you run out of the house, balling your eyes out. You will never have wandered into the construction zone, never had Dinky Doo, never met anyone else in Ponyville, you will be taken as you left Fillydelfia."
"So I am making a decision for my past self?"
"You refused once, you have another chance."
"Yes, I was a run away, I was blinded, partially, I couldn't stand it till Dinky Doo came along. Thanks for a second chance Doctor."
"You're welcome. Once we get there, I need to leave for seven seconds, I'll be back though."
"Fine by me. I just wanna try something else."
