The First Equestrian Jedi
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...
STAR WARS: THE STORY OF KEEN FORESIGHT
Episode 1
The First Equestrian Jedi
Great peace in the Republic.
There has been peace in the galaxy and within the Republic for almost a thousand years. But, since there are still pirates, gangsters, and criminals, the Jedi still patrol the galaxy in search of danger in every planet.
With the outer rim bigger and easier to be lost in, most wanted criminals hide there away from the Jedi, in hope of never being found. Most Jedi search the outer rim in search of those wanted criminals so they could face justice at last.
Recently, there was discovered a planet called Equestria, and little did they know of the upcoming birth of a new Force Sensitive Equestrian.
"Come on, push!" said the midwife. A brown coated earthpony mare named Tender Love, with a black tangled mane, sat on a hay stack in her home. The moment Tender Love told her husband---Fruit Stock, a green coated stallion with a silver mane---that the moment of birth was near, he made no delay and hired the midwife immediately; the pay agreed to be arrange afterwards. Most foals didn't make it due to the extreme cold, but every midwife and mother tried their hardest to keep the foal alive for as long as they can, only few being able to grow into bigger ponies. Things were already tough for the Three Tribes of the planet Equestria, especially for the Earthpony Tribe. The Pegasus Tribe had the warmer clouds to keep them warm, and the Unicorn Tribe had warmth spell to help themselves and others. The Earthpony Tribe, no matter how much they begged, never got to have anything the other Tribes had. The warmest thing they had was hay when kept indoors, but it was barely enough.
Never the less, it was enough to make do, and at least some foals managed to live long enough to become adults. Tender Love closed her eyes tight, held onto Fruit Stock's firm hoof, and hoped dearly that her child would be one of those few. In a matter of moments, the foal finally made it out. The midwife immediately wrapped the foal in a cloth, the first warmest thing they got, but the hardest and most expensive to acquire, mainly used for clothing and emergencies such as this. Despite Tender Love's desire, the midwife had to be the first to cradle the foal, for wasting a precious second to hoof it over would give the Windigos a chance to kill the child in their bitter cold, and that wasn't a chance the midwife was willing to take. After a moment to assure that the foal was warm, the midwife then took a moment to look at the foal. It had a plain tan coat with a darker brown mane, a similar hue to it's mother's. It's small little black eyes looked up at the midwife, and made it's first sound with it's squared muzzle.
"'Tis a colt!" The midwife announced, which is also a way of saying 'it's alive!' without having to say those words.
"Oh, I thank thee!" Tender Love exclaimed. "Can I hold him?!" she asked, and the midwife was that time sure that the foal was warm enough to be passed to his mother. Tender Love gently cradled her foal, and looked down at her little pony.
"How can we repay thee?" asked Fruit Stock. The midwife shock her head.
"Nay, thanking me is all I need, none of us can afford to pay for aught as rich as this!" the midwife replied.
"But how can we express our gratitude?" Fruit Stock asked, "Thou hath helped our whelp be foaled, for without thee, our son wouldn't hath made made it for as long as he already had." he thought for a moment. As he pondered, he spotted the midwife's lacking of a cloak, and turned his head to see one on his back. "Here, take my cloak," he told her, and untied the knot. Despite the midwife's modesty, her desire for warmth took over her as she accepted the gift.
"I thank thee," she expressed. "I will leave thee high-lone with thy son. Alert me if there is aught trouble."
"We will." Fruit Stock assured her, and so the midwife left the two alone with their foal. It was a long, quiet moment, as Fruit Stock and Tender Love watched their colt in silence, each with a loving smile on their muzzles; little did they know of what their son truly felt. Every foal is simple minded, only thinking in images until they learn the language the people around them speak, especially the tongue of their loving parents. But this foal, in particular, not only possessed sight and feeling, but could also sense their emotions as well. The foal not only felt warmth and see the smiles on his mother and father's faces, but he could also feel their love. He could also feel their worry deep in their hearts; the fear of him dying. The foal couldn't yet piece together why, nor did it question it, for all that mattered to the foal and all it understood was the emotions. As it felt their feelings of worry, the foal started to feel it too, the worry of making them upset by disappearing. Unable to handle such an emotion, the child suddenly wept.
"Hush anon, little whelp. There naught a thing to worry about. Thou is safe, thou is warm, and thou is with us." Tender Love cooed her low, gentle, caring voice. The foal didn't understand why she was so calm while she felt danger deep within her heart. It was confusing how they could be so happy and scared at the same time. So, her tender, soothing voice did not quiet him, and only made him cry more. There was so much it could sense, yet it couldn't fully understand why.
"Perhaps it's time to move on, my Love." Fruit Stock said to his bride, "Or at least I, for I must get back to work; the ponies won't feed themselves." Tender Love nodded, and Fruit Stock left. She took another moment to cradle her foal, pondering on why he wouldn't stop crying to her lullabies.
"Thou art a strange foal, aren't thee?" she commented to her little colt, "Tis as if thou knows more than we thought thou doth," she observed as she inspected her curious foal, his eyes showing her an enigma. She looked at her whelp for seemingly an eternity until she fully realized that her foal was indeed not normal. Tender Love then knew that her foal was special, that he could sense and feel something she couldn't. She could tell that her foal could feel her emotions, she could see it as he looked at her just as curiously as she did he. He was far from a normal, oblivious, simple child. Suddenly, the foal's eyes popped open in shock and worry, and turned it's attention to the door. The moment Tender Love turned her attention to where her foal looked, the door suddenly slammed open, and in came Fruit Stock, with the sound of the blizzard and hungry wolves behind him.
"Hide the baby, anon!" Fruit Stock exclaimed as he tried in vain to keep the door from being ripped open. "The wolves hast found us, and want to englut off of our flesh!" Tender Love at first tried to arise, but then her foal whined, and held his arms out to his father. "I can only hold off the wolves for so long, make haste!" Fruit Stock ordered. With him slowly losing the struggle, Tender Love found no choice but to obey him, finding a place to hide herself and the foal. As swiftly as she could, she hide under the table and cradled her foal. Their home was too simple and dole, so there was barely anywhere to hide. Tender Love hushed her little foal as it began to cry, trying in vain to keep it quiet. The fight between Fruit Stock and the wolves was viscous. The first of the three wolves jumped for Fruit Stock, only for him to dodge under it, slide on his back in 360 degrees on the floor, then bucked it in the gut. The first wolf launched a few feet before it landed on it’s back. The two other wolves, clearly pissed, both growled and charged for Fruit Stock.
He turned in zig zags as he tried to confuse them, then tackled the second wolf. He backed off as quickly as he could before the third went after him. Fruit Stock once again turned all the way around, bucked it in the nose, then swiftly turned back around to keep an eye on them. With his attention full on the third wolf, the first took advantage and tackled him, it’s claws deep within Fruit Stock’s flesh. He cried in agony, and attempted to kick the third wolf, but his strikes were weakened due to his pain. The second and third wolf noticed this, and surrounded him as they prepared to feast. In a desperate attempt to escape, he savagely bit the foreleg of the first wolf. As it whined in pain, he took his advantage and ran for the door. On his way out, he spit at the second one and turned a quick 90° angle to kick the third, insuring that they will follow him out in rage. As he lead them out, his next instinct was to find his gardening knife he used to cut the fruit from their roots. “I will compass thee to tatarus, thou savage beasts!” Armed, he faced the wolves with a full charge.
He held back all fear as he ran for them in attempt to stab them all one by one. He tacked down the second wolf and managed to stab it in the gut. But in the midst of his success, the first wolf tackled him down. His knife remained in the heart of the second wolf, which was a good and bad thing both at once. He pushed the first wolf, then turned again to prepare a buck, without any worry of breaking the walls of his house. With his increased strength of his earthpony hooves, the first wolf launched as far as thirty feet away that time. That left him with the third wolf, whom slowly circled around him- glaring at him, growling at him, filled with anger and hate of the pony that harmed and killed it’s brothers. It was a long matter of time before the third wolf finally decided to unleash that anger and charged for Fruit Stock. The third wolf was too swift from him to turn for another buck, so the wolf managed to tackle him down and started to eat at his flesh, determined to insure that he won’t rise up again, butFruit Stock was too weak to fight at that point.
The only thing he could do was scream in agony as the wolf bit off chunk after chunk of his flesh. It’s feasting ceased when it heard the First wolf howl in cry for help, and the Third wolf’s loyalty was what made it stop, even though it wanted to eat him until Fruit Stock was nothing but bone. Deciding that he was already as good as dead, the Third wolf tended to it’s injured brother, deciding to save the pony’s meat to share with the pack later. Once when the third wolf left Fruit Stock alone, he crawled his way to his home, the bitter cold like salt to his wounds. It was a long struggle, and he was only lucky that the third wolf cared about it’s brother more than it cared about eating him alive. In what felt like an eternity, he managed to make it close enough to the door. Tender Love whispered her soft lullabies to her foal, trying in vain to remain quiet so the wolves won’t know of their presence. Once when the wolves escaped, her child only cried louder and, to Tender Love’s surprise, reached his little hooves out the direction of the door. Tender Love, too, felt scared of her love’s absence.
For she knew that as she cradled her foal and remained safe and warm, Fruit Stock fought to the death with the wolves in the cold of the windigos; her heart raced as she wondered if Fruit Stock was going to survive. He was in his late forties, and as much life as he had already lived, she felt that it was far too soon. She imagined both of them, in their death bed, her hair as white as the snow outside, while her husband’s remained as silver as it always was since birth. She imagined their foal, tending to them, taking care of the crops and insuring that they remained warm and fed. She wanted that so dearly, she wanted to see the birth of her grandchild, see the crops become more healthy than ever, and die of old age in her husband’s arms; she really wanted that, she wanted her whole family to live their lives full.
“Dear Mother Faust,” she prayed, “Please keep us safe and warm, and guard Fruit Stock especially at this dire hour. Mother Faust, if Fruit Stock and I not but die young, then at least make sure our son lives to be old. Mother, I pray to thee that rather or not I shall be there for him, that rather or not Fruit Stock will live to protect this, that your loving hooves and your graceful quill will at least write the full story of this child. He hast a gift, Mother Faust, and I pray to thee that he will lay to it well. Prithee, Mother Faust, let him be somewhere warm, some place where he can use his gifts for the greater good. I do not care rather or not I will get to read the story you write for him, oh Mother Faust, I just pray to thee that he will hast one. Thy faithful subject, Tender Love.” She wept for a long while, and continued to cradle the little foal, keeping him and herself warm against the evil windigos’ cold.
“Avast!” a familiar voice suddenly cried, “It is I, thy husband Fruit Stock! I am home, my Love, for the savage beasts are gone! Open the door, prithee, and in great haste!” he called. Tender Love perked up, and rejoiced, for her prayers had been answered. As swiftly as she could, she raised from the table, placed the foal nice and safe onto the hay stack, and made her way to the door. She gasped at the sight of her husband, whom laid in the snow, covered in blood and several deep wounds. She attempted to pick him up, but hesitated in fear of making it worse. “Don’t,” he told her with a weak wave of his hood. “Just betoken me if our baby is safe.”
“He is, Fruit Stock.” Tender Love told him.
“Let me see him.” Tender Love obeyed as she obtained their beloved child. The whelp didn’t cry at the horrifyingly gored sight, but instead looked rather more prepared, yet still scared none of the less. Fruit Stack took a long moment to look at his son, smiling at his own flesh and blood. “What shall we name him?” Fruit Stock asked. Tender Love looked at her child, then recalled everything that happened.
“Keen Foresight.” she dubbed him. Fruit Stock raised an eyebrow.
“What a strange name.” he commented.
“He knew this was coming, husband. He looked at the door with worry the moment before thou opened it and told us of the wolves. He reached out to thee, knowing the out-come of the battle. He didn’t want thee to fight to the death with the wolves, for he knew that thee... nay, thou shalt not--”
“'Tis okay, my Love,” Fruit Stock interrupted, “I know what is to come. I am bleeding, and bleeding far too much. Bring my son to me.” Tender Love obeyed, being as careful as possible as to not like her child mess with his wounds, but the foal appeared to know better than that. All he did, instead, was look at his father with eyes that spoke volumes of how ready he was to listen to his father. “Keen Foresight,” Fruit Stock started, “I want thee to become a good stallion, okay? Thou must use thy special talent for good, and not for thy selfish wishes. Can thee doth that for me? Can thou be a guardian for me? Can thou protect others with thy gift?” Keen Foresight couldn't understood what his father was telling him, but yet he could feel the emotions; able to understand that he wants him to be a good pony. With that understood, Keen nodded, which made Fruit Stock smile. What followed that, despite the agonizing pain he felt, he laughed. His laughter grew, and grew.
Eventually, his laughter started to die down, and as it lowered, he calmed down more, and more, and more, until finally he was fully at peace. “Nay!” Tender Love cried, and let go of all fear of the blood as she grabbed his body into her forearms, wrapping herself around him. “Nay!” she cried again, and began to weep. Keen Foresight looked in shock as the emotions he felt in his father went from worry, to pure joy, with all the worry deep within his fully gone, cleansed from fear. What followed was that joy turning into peace. Once when it turned into peace, that peace and emotion was no longer concentrated into one body, and was instead was all around him. He could feel his father, wrapping his hooves around him, yet he was nowhere to be seen. He looked curiously as his mother wept at the dead body, the place where his father use to be. Keen Foresight felt a whisper, a single word that he started to understand, and his father’s emotions gave him the urge to speak it aloud.
“Pa pa.”
Tender Love looked up from the corpse, and looked at him in amazement. Along with the worry deep within her heart, Keen could feel sorrow sinking deep within along with it in his mother's heart, having joy being it’s new cover.
A warm smile slowly crossed Tender Love's face.
