"Hello?" A mans voice breaks the stillness of the room. He shouldn't be here. I could hear his fragile heart beating like a clock.....so soft, so annoying.... I know I could have instantly killed him the moment he stepped through the door but I wanted to know more. Why is he here? What does he want? All the things others had begged to know before I ripped their throats out. This little man wanted something and my curiosity got the better of me. I knew I could easily sneak by him and set up something for a more dramatic mood. I've always quite liked being dramatic.....hehe yes..... It's what made them so scared of me in the first place. It gave me control. Its been quite a while since I've been out on the streets of Canterlot, mainly because I need things to calm down in the city before I went out hunting again. But here was dinner being delivered to my doorstep.
"Hello?" The man called out again as he proceeded further into the decrepit apartment building.
Perhaps I would test his resolve. If he stays then I will......indulge on what he has to say....that is before I......hehe as much as I'd love to.....no not here....I have to stall. The sun is too bright to attempt right now. I'll wait until darkness falls.
"I know you're here!" He called out once again as he turned a corner and faced down a dark empty hallway. Dust glittered in the few beams Of sunlight that managed to find its way through the broken windows and rotted walls, on which the wall paper and paint had almost peeled away. At the very end of the hall, a small beam of light filtered through the door, not from the sun. This was from another source.
Where's the fun on this? I've been told before not to play with my food but....I simply can't help myself. I sat in the old chair with a candle flickering in the darkness waiting......
The door to the room opened and in walked the man. He could make out the shape of a person sitting in the chair. But nothing more than that....
"Who are you?" He said In a quivering voice.
He was afraid.....good. It makes things much easier." You should know......you sought me out." I said trying to keep my voice as low and soft as the candle flickering on the old coffee table in front of me.
"You....you're the Canterlot killer." He said still shaking.
I laughed slightly as he spoke." Killer.....such a tittle for someone who has saved so many." I smirk and lean forward giving him a full view of me in my torn and bloody clothing.....the same ones from that day. The day I changed.
"I mean! That's what people call you, but I know better! I've researched!" He quickly reached into his coat pocket and yanks out folded documents and pictures." You- you've killed 12 people in the last 4 months, all of them were registered sex offenders or had histories of sexual assault......" He said as he slightly backed away.
I smirked at this pathetic man. Of course he had only paid attention to the recent times." Yes.....but your research is....incomplete...." I said standing and walking around the side of the coffee table.
"W-what?" He backed away until he was against the far wall.
"You've only seen the murders in the area of Canterlot......you've never checked any other cities., or countries for that matter have you? Because in my time I've killed far more than 12 people." I smiled as I slammed one hand against the wall next to his head leaving a cracked dent in it." In fact I'm thinking of adding one more." I smirked as I ran my clawed finger down his chest leaving a slash in his coat.
He jumped as it tore his coat and slipped by. He turned around when he was next to the door to find the room empty." W-what? Where?" He could see no other exits to the room. He turned to leave and found himself face to face with it again.
"So rude......leaving in the middle of a conversation don't you think?" I bared my fangs at him as I smiled. I could now smell the sweet aromatic scent of blood in the air. The fool cut himself when he slipped away. I closed the door and locked it. He was backing away again.
"W-what are you?" He bumped into the coffee table and knocked the candle over, extinguishing it and sending them both into complete darkness. For a moment there was only the sound of his own breath and heartbeat filling the room.
"I'm the monster in your closet." I whispered right in his ear sending him into a frenzy. Ha! The windows were boarded shut. No way out for him. No point in scaring him anymore now. I flicked the switch near the door turning on a flickering light bulb hanging from the ceiling.
The man was now on the floor cowering. I simply sat back down on the old chair." Now why are you here?" I glare at him as he slowly stands up the dim light of the room.
"I-I was told by an informant where you were and I hoping for...." he gulped and pulled a notepad and pen out of his coat." An interview?"
This was too good. What luck! I can use this to stall and wait for him to get back so we can take care of him together." Alright.....I'll allow it." I smirked at the thought that he would be dead in a few hours.
He gently stood up and old wooden chair and at down ready to write." uh w-where would you like to start?" he asks nervously.
I smile and leaned back into the chair." I might as well start at the very beginning. 13 years ago...." I looked past him at the door." The day had been bright and the night had seemed even more so. I was s foolish then......"
I smiled as I entered the old building. Since I first came through the mirror I thought this place was cute. The taverns name was The Mixing Bowl. It was here I had my first taste of alcohol. They sure as hell didn't have anything this strong in Equestria with all its gleaming cities and shops, those ponies couldn't make something as strong as these human made drinks. I had had some bad years of course but I got through them with help. I had graduated 4 years ago from Canterlot high and I now lived in an apartment on Orchard Drive. I had considered asking one of the girls to be my roommate but I liked my privacy so now and then the girls and I would come out drinking here. The night was cold so I wore my leather Jacket over a white shirt. By the time we parted ways that night I was quite drunk. It was a miracle I even made it two blocks. Then I had he bright idea to cut through an alley connecting Orchard Drive to the street I was currently on. That is where I was attacked. Four men all dressed in black jumped me when I came around a bend. Low life scum didn't have the nerve to face me.
I twirled my hair in my fingers as I remembered the experience." I'm sure you can guess what they did to me." I said staring at him with my red eyes.
He shook his head.
I laughed." They did everything they could to make sure I felt violated on every level, they humiliated me in every way." I smiled darkly." Have you ever had your throat slit? or been violated with a knife?"
Once again he shook his head.
I chuckled." So there I was, beaten, humiliated, and slowly bleeding to death." I sat up." He came along."
I tried to take a breath but only proceeded to choke on my own blood, Is this how I am to die? Drowning in my own blood? Humiliated by faceless killers and thoroughly violated. My shirt was slashed and ripped, the biggest gash being along my left breast. I was covered in my own blood. I tried fighting back but they were smart. They wore masks and gloves so I wouldn't scratch or bite. Suddenly out of the darkness I saw a face. A man stood over me and slowly kneeled down next to me.
"Help..." My voice came out as a hoarse whisper from the gash in my throat. I feared he was one of my attackers as they had left only a minute before.
His voice was soft and gentle like a breeze in the spring." You are broken......." I could see him now as he leaned in. Blood red eyes and fangs. So now I wouldn't die by these men, but by this monster in disguise. It brought me a slight satisfaction knowing they had failed to kill me. I closed my eyes waiting for my death." I will put you back together." He whispered gently, that's when I felt an awful pain begin to course through my body worse than my own throat being slit. It was agonizing and I begged to feel deaths warm embrace. But it never came, and that night in the alley.....Nobody answered my screams of pain.....and nobody came to help me. I was alone.....it was something I would become used to after that. I never forgave those men and what they did and I NEVER forgot."
I smiled as I rubbed my neck where it had been painfully split open. I looked over at the man expectantly and laughed slightly at his awestruck expression.
"So.....how did you survive?" he asked as he frantically scribbled in his notebook.
I laughed." I didn't..... you see the man who found me was.....well as I said a monster but." I held up one gloved hand to stop him from speaking." I had no idea he was real until the next day."
I awoke with a start and hoped it was all an awful dream, but I was still on the floor of that disgusting alley with my panties around my ankles. I quickly lifted my hand to my throat and was surprised to find no cut there. I was still drenched in my own blood of course but other than being so thirsty I seemed fine. I discovered, after a quick inspection that all evidence of the attack was gone. I was alive. I cant go to the cops with no evidence of an attack. I'm still sore in certain places so I gently hobbled home. I must look a mess from the way people stared at me as I passed by. Covered from my neck down in my own blood, my shirt torn apart and bloody. The only thing that had no damage to it was my leather jacket, though it was soaked in blood. as i came to my apartment building I realized as I reached into my pocket my phone was gone. I looked down to find a slash in my shorts where they must have been impatient and cut my leg in frustration. My leggings were virtually torn to shreds and had many slashes and holes in them. God I was a mess. I came back to the thought of my phone. it is either in the alleyway, in that case I'm not going back, or those men stole it in the attack. I sighed and look back to the alley and noticed m own bloody footprints leading to where I was standing. My shoes were soaked in blood as were my feet. I walked up to my apartment and started to clean myself up. It was while I was in the shower that the full realization of what happened hit me harder than a ton of bricks. I sat in the bottom of the shower and I sobbed like a child. I sat there for hours sobbing for myself. I was weak.....I.....I......I was broken. I slowly looked down at my hands.
"I am broken....." I recited the words to myself. The words of the man came to me as I clenched my hands into fists." I will put myself back together." I said as anger began to fester and boil inside of me." I don't care what it takes.....or how long....I will find you all and make you PAY!" I punched a hole in the wall with little effort and I quickly dressed myself as I set out to exact my revenge.
I smiled as he continued his scribbling.
"So the man......." He looks up at me with a curious expression." Was he real?"
"Obviously." I say gesturing to myself.
"So you went to find the men who attacked you? Do you?" He asks leaning forward slightly.
"I had no idea who they were. All I had to go on was a scent. Some Cologne one of them wore. It was very distinct, enough that I would know it if I smelled it again. At the time I had no idea what I was becoming. I'm sure though by now you realize what that man was." I says leaning back into the chair.
"From what you described......If we are being serious I'd say......vampire or something of the sort." He says looking up.
I smiled." You aren't as clueless as I thought. I wandered the streets searching for something, anything. I had to pick myself up. I had no idea, as I said before, what I was becoming. The change was not yet complete."
"Wait." He flipped the page on his notebook." I thought Vampire couldn't go out in the sun."
"That's just a myth. Made by some fool who thought something tainted and evil couldn't live in the presence of something so bright and pure. The sun bothers me no more than it would bother you." I say an annoyed tone.
He nods." Continue."
Two hours after I left the apartment I arrived in the very same alley where I had been attacked. I stared down at the large puddle of now dried blood. I could picture myself lying there beaten and dying slowly. But I was here and alive. I walked around the scene to where I walked away back to the corner around which I had been dragged. There was my cell phone laying on the ground. It still worked and I had missed 12 calls from the girls, the most being from twilight and Fluttershy. I stared down at the screen wondering whether or not I should call back. That's when it hit me. I kneeled over in absolute pain, more agonizing than the pain from the previous night. It felt like my insides were melting and just as I was about to fall over a loud, and sickening crack came from my chest stopping the pain. I gasped and panted on my knees still feeling disoriented, so much that I didn't realize how loudly I screamed. People began to stream into the alley in search of the source.
"Crap..." I stood and walked out of the alley heading towards my apartment. I was so thirsty. After returning home the thirst had intensified ten fold and I was ready to rip my own throat out. Nothing helped it, and after ten minutes I blacked out. I woke up three hours later and found myself in the center of a massacre. Four bloody bodies lay all around what must have been a basement. All of them were dead with wild slashes and claw marks all over their mangled bodies. I didn't recognize any of them, all I knew was that once again I was soaked in blood. My clothes were torn and my fingers had blood caked under my fingernails. I could taste blood in my mouth and that's when I noticed that the thirst was gone.
"Wait..... so what happened?" he asks flipping a page in his notebook.
I rolled my eyes. I am growing quite sick of his constant interruptions and questioning." When a vampire fails to feed, they become savage and lose control until the thirst is gone. I began to understand what was happening to me. What I had become. And I realized.....I didn't need to live in fear anymore, I made the decision to hunt the men who attacked me. I had their scents, and all I had to do was follow them to their source." I smiled at the memory.
He squinted." so you found them right away?" he asks as he scratches out something in his notebook and adjust himself on the old creaky chair.
I chuckled darkly and adjusted myself in the chair." At first I was afraid and reluctant...but when I found the first one that quickly faded...it was at that time I was a little...unstable..." I grin." But its not as if that ever faded...I still find myself muttering now and then...the prospect of an eternity of life has a certain way of...unhinging you." I laugh lightly." As i said, my first encounter wasn't the most pleasant..."
My nose wrinkled at the scent eminating from the theatre. He was in there, I could smell him. I stood there in the walkway of the building slightly to the right. The clothing I wore still had some blood on it from the previous day of feeding. I found it trivial at this point to change clothing if it was to remain a mess. People were now eyeing me curiously as they passed me noticing the blood. I turned and growled frustatedly before running a hand through my hair and forcing myself to hold my breath as i entered the crowded theatre. As I walked in, it was if a trail of light lit the way to my target. He sat alone in the upper stands on the right side of the room. The lights dimmed and I nervously walked up the steps then down the row towards him.
