The Argument
"That's the last one, my King."
"Dad, your not busy are you???"
"Thank You....I don't believe so, Flash??"
"Nope, that's all for today until the banquet, my King."
"Well it seems I have a few hours Skyla.... but why?"
"So you can continue your story, about the po- no alicorn in the sun and moon."
"Okay I can tell you, Thank you flash. Please don't disturb me until the banquet, unless its an emergency."
"My pleasure, my King... Princess Skyla."
"yesss!"
"Where did we leave off Skyla, it's been a few days."
"You said something about, you got over mom but.... hmm....errr....The sisters didn't. After you spoke to mom in your dream."
"Oh yes, well...."

I first noticed it a few days after the dream, about 2 weeks after the whole incident with Sombra and Chrysalis and the Crystal Empire wasn't a problem anymore. The castle had been pulled down and the empire was flattened. It was declared safe. We all had moved in to the Canterlot castle and were settling in.
It happened at dinner. Me, Brave, flurry, Celestia, Luna and Auntie twilight were all sitting around the long table. You was in your highchair next to me, on my right and I sat across from Auntie Twilight. Brave sat next to me, on my left and flurry sat across from him. Celestia and Luna took their respected places at the heads of the table.
You kept banning your hooves on the highchair trying to keep my attention and haphazardly waving your wings, that you clearly couldn't control. You was about 3 weeks old and your siblings kept laughing and giggling at you, making you do the banning and waving more. Meanwhile I was trying to: feed you, feed myself, stop your siblings from giggling and look like I was paying attention to the adult conversation with the 3 princesses in the room! I enjoyed being 'distracted' from the conversation as it was about politics, a very boring topic. The topic contained: The rules for royalty to follow in court. The rules for diplomats and nobles to follow in court.The rules for royal guards to follow in court. Amongst other boring but useful information. I got the odd look from Luna, asking me to shut up your siblings. I did so and as I did you threw your toy straight at Celestia while she was in mid conversation. I tried to hide my laughter along with every pony else in the room but couldn't hold it. After I stopped laughing, I apologised to Celestia and thoughout most of the dinner, you caused chaos but eventually you got bored and you fell asleep.
Celestia stopped the conversation and called the maid, I instructed her to put you in your play pen next to my bed, as you was bound to wake up before I went to bed. That was only one of your play pens though. You had another in the throne room and one in the nursery; your bed chamber, which was a door off my main chamber. (I told Celestia we only needed one in my chambers and one in the throne room but she insisted you had one in my bed chamber and one in your bed chamber.)But mostly, you slept with me in my bed and napped in your cot.
In all I had 4 chambers leading off of the main chamber they were:
Anyway back to the story ..... Once you was out of the dinning room. That's when it started.
Twilight brought up the Empire. "So brother how are things back here in Canterlot. I bet it's werid not being in the Empire with..." she froze realising, what she had just gone to say.
"It's okay Twilly, It's becoming easier, please don't feel guilty about brining her up, I want her to be remembered not forgotten." My ears dropped as I spoke.
"Yes, thy shouldn't feel bad Twilight seeming its not thou's fought." Luna snapped, I felt awful.
"Sister that was uncalled for! Shining-"
"WE wasn't blaming our nephew for thy's nieces death, thy was blaming you dear sister!"
"How am I to blame dear sister, when it was clearly your fought that Cadence's is DEAD!"
I was shocked and as the volume of the royal sisters rose, your siblings coward and got to my side. Twilight was in just a much shock. we had never seen the princesses lash out at each other before. Your siblings coward in fear. They asked me if they may leave, I agreed but told them to go to my chambers and that I would be along in a while, after I had calmed down the situation. They then ran out of the dinning room, they didn't dare look back. No-pony seemed to notice them leaving.
After they had made their escape, I shouted.
"ENOUGH BOTH OF YOU"
All 3 princesses looked at me in shock at the out burst. I then continued in a softer tone.
"If any pony is to blame for cadence's death it's that monsters and my stupidity"
I stood and said.
"Now if you will all excuse me, I have to go check on my terrified foals."
I opened the door to the exit the dinning room, with my magic, the 3 princesses were silent. I herd nothing as trotted down the halls. I trotted towards my chambers, as I reached the door. I went to pull it but it was locked. Cleaver foals I thought. They had used the shield lock spell, I had taught them.

"Is that the same spell you taught me"
"Yes, It was the first real spell you learnt, after levitation and teleportation. Anyway, after the incident at the empire I had taught, Flurry and Brave. How to cast a shield lock spell; one only our family's magic can open and recognise. If you don't have the same kind of magic you cant open, it unless you over power it. but its pretty much impossible to over power alicorn magic, in person or on objects, i guess the only pony who could try and may succeed would be Sombra or Chrysalis as they both possessed a different or dark magic."
"What you mean?"
"Well changelings use an entirely different type of magic, it comes as they are a different species and Sombra's was the worst and most dangerous of dark magic. The spells Sombra used were from a very powerful alicorn, one who could wield any dark magic and wasn't corrupt and I'm the only other pony/alicorn, who has done so in recorded history. Even Luna got corrupted because it's dangerous and controlling. You must be in a controlled environment to try it or you come out like Sombra and Luna. (well she came out as Nightmare moon.) Again before you ask of this alicorn and how I can wield any dark magic, it will come up in the story. Oh and NEVER ask me if you can use it because its banned."

"You will find out in the story, plus I don't want you hurt. Can I continue...?"

I opened the shield lock with ease. I opened the door closed it and relocked it, but this time i put my personal spell on the door. this lock couldn't be opened from the outside but from the inside, anyone can open it your siblings or any maids. Celestia and Luna would try rom the outside but falter, knowing I wanted to be alone.
I found both siblings on my bed bouncing and laughing, at least they wasn't crying a terrified. Their faces looked a little startled and me entering but was smiles almost immediately back. i sat on the bed with them and explain that the princesses are going to take time to adjust and so was they. Brave and Flurry was sad but had quickly got over it. I was very surprised but happy they had dedicated their time to looking after you
I from that day on saw you as a parting gift your mom had given us. But the royal sister's didn't, they saw this as their own sisters fault.

The next day, I was in my bedchamber, playing with you. When I was meant to be dealing with my duties, as Cadence was dead, I had to take her duties, she did while, she was in Canterlot and I was captain.
My new duties being a prince, included:
But as always I started my work when you was napping, then you would wake up and want my attention. I would end up playing with you instead of submitting forms and making the plans for the retraining and new recruits.
I was playing with you and there on the bed was my paperwork problems about Canterlot but I always lost track of time with you, until a knock sounded. I opened the door with my magic to allow my guest entrance. I heard a call...
"Shining Armour? where are you?"
"In my bedchamber with Skyla, Princess Celestia." I knew instantly it was her and knew this would be about the forms or training. I got a little worried with the work on my bed but I thought she would understand with you always around.
To my surprise It wasn't about me falling behind with my duties at all. It was a subject, I really didn't want to discuss but of course I knew it would come eventually.
"Hello Shining, hellllooo my little princess." She said to and you giggled "I just want to talk to you about last night and the whole Cadence misunderstanding." I moved some of the paperwork so she could sit down on the bed next to me and as she did I replied.
"Oh okay. It's fine Celestia, I forgive you and Luna for the dinner last night, but the blame can all be on you two, the foals were playing up and-" She cut me off with a light hoof to my lips and spoke in a soft and calm manner.
"-Oh no Shining, it's not your or your foals fault, its Luna's." I had no idea why she was blaming her sister.
"What?? but Celestia I-" She cut in again.
"-No Shining, It was Luna's fault for last nights; disaster of a dinner and scaring your foals. I do hope she has apologized! Has she??" She questioned with raised eyebrow
"Err, No. I haven't really been out of my chambers today. I got breakfast for myself and the foals and they asked if they could eat in my chambers, then they both went out together."
"They came from their chamber's to eat with you in yours? Seems strange, why didn't you all come in the dinning room with us other princesses? We missed you." I couldn't believe she hadn't noticed.
"Err....hmm............ They said to me they was too frightened to eat with you and Luna this morning. AND they didn't come to my chambers this morning, they was far to terrified to leave last night, so they slept with me in my bed. Skyla slept in her cot, I moved it to the left side of my bed and slept there. Flurry slept next to me with Brave on her right. I even had to escort them out of the castle!" I was unsure how she would react.
"I'm very sorry for Luna's, outburst. I will personally make sure it doesn't happen to night. Poor foals." She made a silly face at you and you giggled. This made us smile, you would always lighten the mood.
"Well I don't think the foals feel comfortable with sitting with you and Luna tonight, also it's the subject of their mother. They really just wish it to be over in the past, as do I." All I wanted was to move on but Celestia carried on about Cady.
"The foals are welcome to eat away from the dinning room for while, but I don't want you trying to suppress Cadence out of your thoughts, Shining. It's going to be hard, but please don't blame yourself. it's Luna's fault." Again I couldn't workout where she got blaming Luna from, She hadn't done anything.
"How is it her fault! Cadence was already dead when you arrived at the Crystal Empire!"
"Yes and we would have been there a lot quicker, if Luna wasn't arguing with me, over taking the armies or using the elements, killing or peacefully dealing with it we would have been there by night fall and could have prevented the whole take over! Tell me Shining, do you still get nightmares over chrysalis?" I scream at her, I probably shouldn't have.
"DON'T SAY HER NAME!! err sorry Celestia. Yes I do." My outburst surprised her and you. You began to cry, but I managed to get you to go sleep, I put you in your cot with my magic and we carried on talking.
"It's okay Shining I get it, It's hard to hear her name and not think of the horrible scene you witnessed."
She hugged me. I again felt the soft wings wrap around me, protecting me from all Equestria's evil and hatred. I believe she knew what I needed as she nodded. I knew she knew all I wanted to do was cry, her cuddling me and nodding was all it took. Her cuddle felt just like cadence's only much bigger. I cried out for my Cady. 2-3 weeks of sadness and regret held in, out of the fear of looking weak. After about 5 minutes, we stay in that position as she spoke.
"It's not going to get easier, despite that you will be able to move on and progress with your life. You will still miss her but you will feel happy that she's watching you. However the worst thing you can do my young prince is blame yourself."

"You said you had moved on about mum. How comes you was crying, Dad?"
"I know I said that I had moved on, but I would still cry. I was in a better situation though. I was doing duties and was caring properly for you. Before I was sitting on my bed crying non stop, with either the one or both royal sisters with me or your auntie. It took time but I was coping with it. So was your siblings."
"Oh so it takes along time. I get that, you may continue."

I answered after my sniffles had stopped.
"I know and will move on, but not forget." We both smiled and she released the hug, I really liked her hugs.
"Your okay now?" She said with a loving smile
"Yes I'm much better now, thank you auntie." I felt amused saying that Celestia was my auntie.
"Good, then I will make sure Luna is punished." She got up and went to leave.
"Wait! What? Why? Would you punish your own sister?"
"Because she has committed a crime, an act of treason. She is the reason Cadence is dead! I shall see you late Shining." I was shocked.
"Wait shouldn't you see your advisers first." They maybe able to stop her, I thought.
"Yes I will, see you later Nephew, bye"
She walked out on my chamber and went to leave my chambers altogether when I said "Thank you, bye auntie."
Then she was gone, I went back to trying to do my paperwork.

"Hello father, Hello Skyla."
"Hey sis."
"Hello Flurry Heart, Are you okay?"
"Yes father, I am fine. All I wish to know is, which dress should I wear for the banquet. The pink frilly one or the blue laced one?"
"I say the pink one sis."
"I think the blue laced one looks more sophisticated for the banquet, as we will have the diplomats and nobles there. Along with the princess from saddle Arabia. The pink frilly one is perfect for the gala tomorrow night, formal but still dressy. But what did your designer say?"
"oooooooow you love her don't you father?"
"What! Who? Princess Sapphire Stone?
"Yea, daddy is in love."
"I'm not in love with her, both of you cut it out. We just had a meal in the dinning room."
"Yessssss, father completely ALONE with NO foals in sight... so you could chat about the politics of our nations."
"Yes, Flurry. It was about our nations, now back to your dress please."
OH Okay, Father thank you, I will wear the blue one and she said it depends on what the theme is?"
"Wait! She wasn't informed on the theme!"
"No! She forgot! Stupid mare!"
"She's fired. You will look lovely Flurry. I will see you later, don't be late this time!"
"Yes father. Going to get ready now. Bye you two."

"Dad, why is she always like that? are your in love?"
"No,Skyla I'm not and I don't know, why Flurry acts they way she does, I'm not a mare! But I'm sure you will be similar at that age."

So once Celestia was gone, I took a breather and continued work on designing the new training programme. After I had finished the new designs for the training programme... You woke up demanding your favourite snack; chocolate swirl foal biscuits. I levitated you from your cot to my bed. I feed you on my bed as I signed the orphans entrance forms. You finished your snack, I cleaned you up and I floated you in my magic to your play pen, next to my bed. (Yes you was going to slow down my work but I didn't care.) By this time, I was half way through the orphan forms, when there was another knock at the door...
"Who is it?" I questioned
"It is thy, Princess Luna, we wish to speak with thou, Shining Armour." She called back though the door.
"Come on in Luna, I'm in my bed chamber with Skyla."
The door opened and I saw princess Luna walking towards me in a proud and professional way, that was until she saw you. She squealed in delight at the sight of you with chocolate round your face, a bit on your hooves and giggling. I apologized as you wiped your hoof on her fur.
"Sorry Luna got to distracted by these forms, I didn't notice, she had nicked the biscuits off the bed side and was STUFFING HER LITTLE GREEDY FACE!!" I said in a playful manner, you giggled louder and she laughed cleaning herself and you as I levitated the foal biscuits in to your foal cupboard and locked it. She then sat on the bed and spoke. You went back to playing with your fluffy animals and building blocks.
"We must talk about thy dear sister, Shining." I couldn't believe this...
"Okay, I'm guessing this is about last nights dinner? Correct?"
"Yes-"
"-Well, I forgive you and Celestia for what happen last night. My foals are at as much blame, they wouldn't behave and-"
"-NO! SHINING!, it's not thou's or thou's foals fault, its thy sisters." I had no idea, that both would blame one and other. Why she was blaming her sister. This still didn't make any sense.
"Luna, this don't make any-" She cut me off.
"-NO Shining, It was Celestia's doing for last nights; horrible argument at dinner and thys sister, she scared dear Flurry and Brave? correct?."
"Err....Yes Luna, my foals were very scared."
"Poor foals, Has thy sister apologized!??" She questioned.
"Err, No. I haven't really been out of my chambers today. I got breakfast for us all and the foal asked if they could eat in here. They did so, then they both went out together."
"Thou foals came from thou chamber's to eat with thou in here? Seems strange, why did thou not join us, in the dinning room. Thy missed thou Shining." I couldn't believe that both Princesses hadn't noticed.
"Hmm.....err... My foals stated to me they was too frightened to eat with you and Celestia this morning. AND they didn't come to my chambers this morning, they never left as the were far too terrified to leave last night, so they slept with me in my bed. Skyla slept in her cot, I moved it to the left side of my bed and slept there. Flurry slept next to me with Brave on her right. I even had to escort them out of the castle! This morning!"
I was unsure how she would react, Luna didn't show as much affection or sympathy as Celestia did.
"Thy is very sorry for thy sisters out of order attitude. I will personally make sure it doesn't happen to night. Poor foals."
I watched her gaze fell on you. You was trying to levitate your blocks in to a tower but It fell after just three blocks. She rebuilt it for you then handed you a fourth and held the tower steady. You place the block and carried on you got all 10 blocks in a tower. you clapped your hooves. I nuzzled you and spoke.
"Well Done my little princess." As I said this you pulled out the bottom 2 block and the tower fell. I shielded you quickly as the block fell you giggled. Again you had lightened the mood in the room. Me and Luna both laughed softly, I let the shield down and you tried again to build another tower. we carried on with the conversation.
Luna I don't think the foals feel comfortable with sitting at dinner tonight with you and Celestia, also please try to keep the subject of their mother out of conversations. They really just wish to move on and so do I." Now was the time to move on with a new subject. I really didn't want to re-talk about Cady but like Celestia, the subject was your mother.

"Dad, why didn't you tell Luna that Celestia had visited you??"
"Because I believe at the time, it was going to solve having an argument about it. But again I was wrong. I just delayed it and possibly made the whole situation worst. That part will come later."

As I was saying... The subject was your mother, I was ready to give up.
"Thou foals are excused from the dinning room for now. Shining thy is aware of thou nightmares and thou suppressing thys niece, thee Cadence out of thou thoughts and dreams. Shining, thy dearest sister is to blame not thou self. It's going to be hard but it's thy sisters it's fault." Again I couldn't workout where she got blaming Celestia from or where Celestia got blaming Luna from. They both hadn't done anything.
"How is it your sisters fault! Cadence was already dead, when you all arrived at the Crystal Empire!"
"Thy is aware shining, but we would have been at the Empire much earlier. If it wasn't for thy sister. Thy dearest sister wanted to banish them both if it was who we suspected. Thy on the other hoof wanted both killed instantly... but thou had other plans shining?"
"NO!! I didn't intend on killing her, until she torture me with my wife's death body and telling of her demise!" I felt so guilty again, my ears dropped and I nearly cried for a second time but I held strong.
"Thy knows what thou is going through, dearest shining. Thy has seen it in your dreams. Thy wishes thy can stop it for thou but we cannot. We have tried many times and failed; making thou nightmares worst for thou self.... Thy is very sorry Shining. Thy has failed thou my nephew. Thy is very sorry for her failure. Thee is also why thy hasn't said thee murderers name... out of respect. Thy knows her name hurts and crushes thou's heart. My dearest nephew."
That's what broke me... knowing someone else could see my pain. Knowing that it was affecting my auntie of the night. Questions raced throughout my mind-
I couldn't hold on anymore for the second time I cried. Only I didn't cry alone, Luna cried too. It tore me apart knowing I cause Luna pain.
"why-y are you-u crying a-aun-tie" I managed to speak though tears as her wings wrapped me in a firm hug.
She spoke after what felt like a year of silence.... "Thy cries for thou nephew, we cannot stop thou's pain. Thy wants to but cannot and thy doesn't know why!"
I steadied my breathing and calmed myself down so did Luna. She snuggled in to me and we fell back. I fell on my back with Luna atop me. It was nothing sexual, just a tight hug. She composed herself and apologized for her actions.
"Thy is sorry nephew, thy didn't mean to do that. Anyway thy just wishes to help thou."
"Its fine auntie, I enjoyed the feeling. It would help, if you could just forget these 2 days and start a fresh with Celestia." Why did I say that?? I thought immediately after I said it.
"No!! thy sister must be punished, thy will see thy advisers about this."
"BUT-"
"NO BUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
She boomed in the Canterlot voice, scaring the crap out of you as you screamed. I held you as you fell asleep. Luna continued and apologized.
"Sorry nephew, anyway thy sister needs punishing. She didn't kill Sombra, just banished him and She was the reason we nearly die from a changeling attack! My nephew thou suffer because of my sister... Thou doesn't deserve such fate it is thy sister that does! Will we expect to see thou at dinner nephew?
"Probably not auntie... Can I not talk you out of this punishing your sister plan?"
"NO! Dearest nephew we will see you tomorrow"
With that she got up and walk away before she shut the door to my chambers I said.
"Bye auntie....."
I wasn't disturbed until dinner time... good thing too as I had a lot to think about.... Both rulers of Equestria was plotting to punish the other. They both had to come today to try and have their say and convince me they was right. All within about an hour of each other. All they wanted to do was chat behind the others back and talk about your mother . It was silly! Also very confusing and depressing.
I had watched as the captain of the guard, Luna and Celestia reconnected after a thousand years and within 5 years they was at each others throats again!!!

“It was the next day, we were about to open court…”

Me, Celestia and Twilly were opening court, like any normal day. The only reason Twilly had been there was because she was visiting us for a few days and she enjoyed coming to court, goddess know why! We were already seated in the thrones. Celestia in hers, Me in my new throne; just like the one at the empire but smaller and Twilly in her ‘Princesses guest throne’ as Celestia would put it.
Once we were ready and settled; we opened court and we started well with the nobles. I started with my report on the Crime increases/decreases and the new training plan for the guard.
I began “At this point in time Canterlot’s population is a little overrun to say the least, with Princess Cadence’s death. Crime has gone up as there are now more citizens in the capital. This is to be expected as we now have one less major city.”
A well know noble, Fancy pants I seem to remember. Stood and spoke… “Correct my prince, it is expected but what are we to do about this?”
Celestia answered with grace and the calm tone I was so used to. “Prince Shining Armor has planned a new and improved training policy for the royal guards along with move patrols and checks. Shining will also continue to monitor and survey the capital as he did when he was captain. Correct shining?”
I replied, matching Celestia’s professionalism. “Correct Princess Celestia, I will also be checking in with the current captains of both Princesses ensuring they are all on top form keeping Canterlot safe and sound, Night or day.”

“Dad is the princess this and prince that really that necessary.”
“Yes Skyla, I’m afraid so and I hated it as much as you sound like you would… which is why I don’t hold court anymore I gave that job to your brother and Brave does an excellent job. Maybe you should join him tomorrow if you are up early enough!”
“No, I don’t want to join him!”
“Okay, okay you don’t have to yet.”

Anyway….Celestia then went on about the street trees needed trimming and little bits a piece Twilly was very Intrigued in it all but I was in dream world wish you was there to distract me. I wasn’t in my world long as Celestia pulled me back to realty with a question.
“Shining, do you know, when and if all the Empires orphans have been placed?” That probably wasn’t the actual question as she gave me a stern look.
I replied as I had done earlier. “Yes Princess Celestia all the paper work is completed for each and every orphan they were sent off the morning.”
“Thank you Prince Shining Armor. Before we close court today…I have consulted with my advisers and wish to hear your verdict on Luna’s crimes on Equestia.”
I start to think of any way, I can stop this… I know it’s wrong and I need your auntie’s support. I do the only thing I can think of at that point and rely on ponies thinking before making a decision. “Ponies of the court, I ask you to listen to me and my point as ex Prince of the Crystal Empire and now a Prince of Equestia. The problems we faced in the empire were terrible but if anyone is to blame it’s-”
“-Luna, my faithful subjects. I see your shocked faces and your confusion. My dear sister tried to kill anything and anyone in her path to save Princess Cadence and Prince Shining Armor but her methods would have sent us in to war… this alone is treason to the crown. It is bad enough we lost Princess Cadence but her methods would have put Prince Shining Armor at risk of death too. On top of this she could have had the elements of harmony and are newest Princess; Princess Twilight Sparkle killed as well making Equestia powerless without one of its most powerful source of protection.”
All of a sudden the court doors blow of the hinges and Luna appears…
“THOU SISTER LIES!!!” Luna boomed in the royal Canterlot voice. The room seemed to shake. Luna’s eye glowed pure white with the anger and rage she held. Celestia rose off her throne and that’s when everything kicked off…
Celestia addressed her subjects with a calm and professional attitude. “My subjects please do not be afraid of my sister. I, my niece and nephew will protect you from the raging lunatic. Who believes she is above the laws of Equestia!
“HOW DARE THOU CALL ME, THE PRINCESS OF THE NIGHT A LUNATIC!!!!” She boomed again.
“LUNA! Calm down right this instance. Let us settle this in the court manner.” I believe Celestia thought this would calm her down but she was very wrong…
"Why should thou be put in front of the court and accused of high treason? When it is thy dear sister who has committed the treason and points the hoof at a pony who is innocent! Thys dear sister is the traitor to the crown. Thy nearly had us killed by the changelings!” Luna explains in a calmer manner.
“I did nothing of the sort! You Luna are the one who wanted and entire army killed, when they were simply following orders from Chrysalis!” That name still sent shivers down my spine.
“Well thy has the support of Prince Shining Armour and thou sure he wouldn’t lie…”
"You can’t possibly have his support as I spoke and comforted him yesterday, we spoke of what had happen and he told me to speak to my advisers before summoning the court. I have and I am convinced that I have proof to hold you guilty of treason to the crown on 3 septate accounts!"
“Shining said the same thing to me!”
I felt small as they both princesses looked at each other with faces of shock then everyone looked at me. I had to explain and in front of court. “Celestia, Luna you both came to me yesterday, one after the other both telling me how you felt about cadence and how you was both sorry of the others actions at the dinner table. I think you’re both just depressed and a little angry that you couldn’t do more to save her but-“
Thank you Shining but thou doesn’t believe that thou is depressed as thou is fine but what thou did Celestia is unforgivable. Thou made it so hard to attack the army and save the empire that Princess Cadence was killed. So thou are responsible of Cadences death and in Equestia that is the death sentence. THY PRINCESS LUNA SENTENCE YOU TO THE DEATH PENTALTY FOR HIGH TRESON TO THE CROWN, you will be brought to the castle count yard and hanged. Every pony for the execution raise your hoof up."
“WHAT!!!” most of the count shouted, the others raised the hoofs.
I couldn’t believe it Luna had sentence Celestia to death! Celestia was having none of it!
“LUNA! YOU DARE THREATEN ME WITH DEATH!!! THIS IS NOT JUST TRESON ANYMORE THIS MEANS WAR!! AS THE COURT, PRINCESS TWILIGHT SPARKLE AND PRINCE SHINING ARMOUR ARE MY WITNESSES… I PRINCESS OF THE SUN DECLARE WAR ON LUNA THE PRINCESS OF THE NIGHT!”
“NO Celestia don’t this is madness. The matter of fact is that Cadence was dead before anyone got to the empire… She was dead before I had woken that morning!!!” I was going to say anything to stop this…
Twilight did too… “Shining is right. None of us could have done anything to stop Cadence’s death. We just have to move on and learn from are mistakes."
“Thou shall not be made a fool of, don’t cross me dear sister take your sentence.”
“Don’t Celestia!!! You do not rule Equestia alone Luna, others have their say. All in favour of stopping Celestia’s execution say I.” twilight protested most agreed.
“Then if thou will not take thee sentence it must be settled with war!”
I watched and the court room shuffled in to ponies that supported Luna and those who supported Celestia. I and Twilly was not going to take sides, we had to find a way of a middle ground.

"Dad, what's a middle ground?"
"Well Skyla, a middle ground is where two sides or ponies find a way to settle their differences. This can be about anything a small argument or about treason and rights. We had to find away of stopping the madness before the war actually began...."
"Okay so why did they not find it themselves, Celestia and Luna I mean."
"I know it seems confusing but its just a sign that both were very depressed and they couldn't take the guilt they held. Even if they had done nothing wrong and shouldn't have felt guilty..."

Shining's Rise To Power - Two Royal Sisters Doom Equestia?
"So what happened, dad?"
"Well we watched, we watched as over the course of a day the whole of canterlot had split in two."

The first split happened in the court room with ponies choosing which princess they would like to support and being mostly nobles and high class citizens they chose their favourite; not out of power or who was right, just favouritism. Of course there was ponies who picked based on who they served, for instance the guards in the court already there to protect Celestia, they stuck with her and the guards luna brought in stuck with her to protect her and both princesses respected advisors stood by the princess they helped advise. All these ponies about 200 in total, where chanting the princesses' name and creating more chaos, While you could hear the chanting it was quiet compared to Luna and Celestia's screaming. Both princesses were standing in the middle of court with their noses against one another. Sreaming insults and treasonous acts and each other.
I knew I needed more support from other guards who wasn't present and didn't understand what was going on to help. Miraculously the princesses' captains weren't present to my advantage, so I rose from my throne and summoned the captains and any patrolling guards with a distress spell. The spell any royal could use if an alicorn or unicorn.

"Wait... So you and auntie Twilight was the only two who weren't fighting or hadn't chosen a side??"
"No not entirely there was one other... my brother in law, who I didn't care much for personally as he was rude and arrogant. His name was Prince BlueBlood..."
"Just like sis then??"
"No Skyla and I will not have you talk about your sister in such a way. BlueBlood was rude to any ponies who was not at a high standard like me. when I was a guard he tested me all the time, as captain he mocked me telling me I would never be anymore powerful and as prince he boasted he was born one where I wasn't. I swear his heart skipped a beat when he first laid eyes on me as an alicorn, he never said anything after that day but more on that later in the story. Anyway as I was saying. BlueBlood was standing between the thrones and was looking back and forward between both princesses looking clueless as always."

Once the spell was cast, the guard rushed in waiting for orders, I ordered both captains to me and told them everything. I told them that the princesses had gone a bit over the top and had started to demand treasons on each other, I kept I short and to the point. Then I told both captains and twilly the plan. "Break up the chanting ponies and get everypony out of the court, then we can break up the princesses."
We successfully got all the ponies out of the court. Some ponies were attempting to threaten the guards and stay but we eventually got the out and it was just the princesses, their advisors, twilly, me and the guards. We managed to calm down the princesses enough to get them to go back to their chambers and think things though with their advisors. The personal guards of each princess took the princesses to their chambers all the rest of the guards went back to the patrols or drills.
I kept the captains and the advisors of the princesses in the throne room, to discus what we was to do and what had happen really. I explained. "This all started yesterday when the princesses came to see me, I advised Celestia to speak with you." I pointed to her advisors and the same went for Luna's.
Lightening flash spoke first. "Well your highnesses..."
"Lightening please forget the titles and just name us." I quickly said.
"Everyone was ready to go, when Luna came in and asked where the guards were going and why we wasn't going with a full army. When Celestia told her, Luna insisted she come and she wanted to get rid of the pair as quickly as possible. We honestly didn't know who the two was talking about until we got to the empire. But the two sisters argued about it and the agreed to get the elements to Celestia messaged Twilight and then Luna brought up the topic of affection and that Celestia favorited Cadence and Twilight over her. The arguing went way into the night until we was finally ready and mounted the carriages. They started to ague again on the journey. I didn't pay much attention to what they were arguing about but it sounded bad, the arguing didn't finish until we reached the empire. That's when we understood what was going on and then the changelings advanced on us. The princesses were so caught up in the arguing we was nearly killed our selves, your highnesses." He bowed and I turned to Sliver moon he simply said.
"That's exactly what I would have said your highness."
"Okay, so neither or you actually know why the princesses were arguing in the first place but you both agree that you was put in danger because of it. correct?" Twilight stated.
"Yes, your highnesses" Both captains said in unison.
"Sis, it sounds to me that we have a big problem here, no one knows why the princesses are fighting, even themselves!"
"Your right BBBFF and with neither side backing down, we may actually have no way of solving this peacefully."
"Wait but your highnesses won't talking help??" sliver moon said.
"No captain, I tried talking to them yesterday it just ends with them shouting and walking away or them blaming the other, I don't see a way of stopping them going to war..." I sadly stated, we had a big problem and no real way of stopping it.
"So is that it the BBBFF, we just let it happen?"
"No sis, the princesses advisors, you have heard the story of what really happened can you try and put your princesses straight and me and twilight will search for an alternative if that fails."
"Yes, your highnesses." the advisors said and then they trotted off to consult with the princess they advised.
"Do you actually believe they are going to try and talk the princesses out of this madness Prince Shining Armour?" Asked a worried Lightening Flash.
"Honestly you three, No I don't think they will as with the princesses busy fighting a war between themselves. The advisors can sit back and watch as Equestia crumbles and it won't be their fault. The blame will be put on us, as they are only there to advise but with the princesses wound up this much, they will no doubt do exactly as the advisors say with out think carefully about its consequences. Eventually when the princesses see sense it will be too late, the citizens will turned on them and see them as dangerous, not to be trusted or to be followed. But they will not look to us as leaders either as we couldn't stop it from happening so we will look weak. The next ponies they will look to is the wealthy and the wealthy will look to the advisors for help. No doubts the advisors will lie saying 'that they tried to advise them not to do it' and they will be off the hook, this nation will look to them instead of the royal family and Equestia will be lost. But don't panic or spread rumors as that's just what I think so just incase we need a back up plan. A plan incase we do in fact face war between the two most powerful ponies in all of Equestria." I know what I said was way out there but we had to be ready for anything.
I sent the captains up to the princesses to keep an eye out and to report if anything bad way being talked about as guards are known not to listen in on royals talking but I made an exception. While me and Twilight went down to the library to think in peace after the chaotic morning in court.
We trotted down to the library and on the way bumped into a pair of exhausted looking foals, your siblings were huffing and puffing. We trotted down the hall, I got you out your playpen; thanking the maid for keeping an eye on you. I was glad you hadn't joined us for court that day. As we neared the library your siblings started to tell us about the up roar happening since court had closed just under 30 minutes ago!
"All the upper class citizens and nobles were giving out flyers and shouting for either Luna or Celestia, along with saying the other had gone mad. Dad what is going on???" Flurry said in a half panic.
"Does it have something to do with what the princesses were shouting about at dinner the other night? and why are the press demanding we tell them the truth, we don't even know what happened this morning in court, Dad?? Brave added.
"Okay, okay calm down, you have nothing to do with this so if someone asks you what's going on, just say 'I have no comment on the matter thank you' and walkaway if they continue to follow you just call in one of the guards to sort them out. I will have two guards flanking you when ever you go out of the castle grounds. As for what's going on we are not entirely sure, the princesses seem to be stuck thinking each other are to blame for your mother's death and now it seems its circling into other things they don't like about the other. So to answer your questions yes; it's to do with what happened at the dinning table. However this has now got to the point were they would like the other killed or there going to war but we are trying to stop it from getting that far. The princesses are currently talking with their advisors and I have the captains keeping an eye while we are going in the library to make a back up plan if the princesses can talk it out."
"Okay so now we are at the library what do we do auntie?" Brave said a bit more calmer.
"We check though the history books to see if their was any tension between the two princesses before the nightmare moon thing and if so what sparked it to begin with as I have never seen them act in such away apart from the night Luna turned."
"Nice idea sis and while your doing that with Brave, I will take Flurry to see if the princesses have taken out any powerful magic spells. The Canterlot librarian should be able to tell us."
"Dad, where are the powerful magic books, I have never seen them and why are they so important??"
"Well Flurry, some of the most powerful magic spells that are in the royal library are only for the royal family to have access to. These books contain very dangerous magic spells and the most horrible magic. Dark magic, this magic is so powerful its said to control and take over its user. This is what happen to Sombra he used it and became a maniac. This magic its very similar to Treks magic as well as the changelings only their magic is fueled by pure love not emotion. Changelings are also born with this magic so it doesn't take them over. If the princesses are planning a war this is the magic they will want to use on the other as they are both equally matched without any add ons or spells."
"So if the royal family have access to it does that mean I can use it??"
"NO FLURRY YOU MUST NEVER! if you touch it you will never be yourself again."
"Okay dad, I understand I will not try to use it I promise, I love you." She trembled.
"Its okay my little princess, I just don't want you hurt, I love you too. Now where are them scrolls."

"But dad, you said only you and one other pony used dark magic without turning evil. Why didn't you tell sis."
"I didn't tell her because no one but the two sisters knew, until the war broke out, these days its still banned but everyone knows 'who' the other pony is and soon you will too as he comes up in the story."

Okay so we found the scrolls and none had been taken by either princess for at least 5 years the librarian said Celestia had signed out a book called 'The call of Darkice' but that was all and she had given it back a few days after Luna had returned form the moon. So me and flurry went to help Twilight and Brave they and found that their was a species called batponies and they looked up to Luna but Celestia banished them for no know reason but that was all.
We decided the best thing was to go though are options and make our plan based on what we had found and what we knew from the guards, which wasn't much. Twilight made a list like always and it followed as:

"Oh thank you Flash, I complete lost track of time. That means you have to get ready Skyla, I will tell you the rest of the story another time."
"Okay dad."
"Do you wish to check on the banquet yourself your majesty?"
"Yes Flash please lead the way."
