A Little Surprise
Chapter 1
Load Full StoryPinkie set down the tray of cinnamon rolls on the counter to cool and untied her apron. She had been working hard for the Cakes all afternoon, and had finally completed all of the orders she had given her signature "Pinkie Promise" to fill.
She looked out the window and gave a little shriek. "Geez! Gummy, I've just been working all day and haven't had anytime to talk to my friends! They said they wanted to meet me at Sweet Apple Acres almost an hour ago! I've gotta get going!"
She reached for her saddle bag and rushed out torwards the apple orchards uphill. Her curly pink mane bounced behind her as she ran, and she hoped to get there as soon as she could. She rushed up to the farm, but nopony was in sight. "That's strange." She said quietly to herself as she examined the farm. She walked up to the barn, and found a small note on the door.
"Pinkie, please come in! We need a bit of help organizing some different apples, and could use your help!"
Pinkie gave a small frown. "They needed my help? Look how late I'm showing up!" She whined.
She opened the barn door to find tables with bright tablecloths, balloons, confetti, and streamers. Her friends stood there wearing party hats. "Happy Anniversary Pinkie!" They cried. Pinkie's eyes widened.
"Y-you..."
Her friends looked confused. "Are you okay?"
Pinkie gave a wide smile and laughed. "You remembered! It's absolutely perfect!"
Applejack smiled. " 'Course we did, sugar cube. Couldn't forget the day when our best friend moved to Ponyville."
Pinkie Pie suddenly looked shocked. "I'm an hour late! How long have you been waiting?"
Fluttershy sunk back a little. "Well, um... About that."
Twilight stepped forward. "We were having trouble setting up the party, so we had to stall a bit..." She said, looking over at a table filled with desserts. "So we may have ordered a few more cakes then originally planned..."
Pinkie laughed. "No wonder I got so many cake orders!" She laughed as she saw the table. It was filled to the brim with cakes, brownies, donuts, and more assorted pastries.
Rainbowdash grinned. "See Pinkie? You did get to help out on your party, and you didn't even know it!"
Pinkie giggled and blushed. "I guess I did, didn't I?"
Pinkie walked outside. It was several hours later and the moon had risen. It was a dark and cool night, but it wasn't the temperature that made her feel cold. She felt like somepony was watching her... studying her. She walked carefully on the moonlit path torwards Ponyville. Suddenly, she saw a figure standing on the dirt road....
The mare's eyes widened and she paused for a moment. The pony has bouncy hair, blue eyes, and although it was hard to see at this time of night, she could see a faint shade of pink on her coat.
"You're me!" Pinkie cried in horror.
The pony flinched, and galloped away from Pinkie as fast as she could.
The pony turned and ran down through the apple orchards. Pinkie tailed behind as fast as she could.
The pony stopped and glanced behind her, and her eyes seemed to shimmer in the moonlight. She then dived into a cave in the side of a small mountain that looked over Sweet Apple Acres. The cave was partially hidden in the brush and foilage, and if it wasn't for giving chase, Pinkie would have missed it.
"Gotcha." Pinkie said to herself, running torwards the cave.
Pinkie glanced into the entrance of the cave. It was dark and moist, and probably had some bugs crawling along the narrow walls, but Pinkie had no choice. She dived in, and hoped for the best.
She could only hear her hoofsteps and her own heartbeat as she crawled into the cave. It seemed to get more and more cramped the further she crawled in. She could hear scurrying along the walls, but did her best to ignore it. After all, it was probably just...bugs. Pinkie was sure that was all it was.
The cave suddenly opened up, and while there was plenty of room to walk, Pinkie couldn't see at all.
Pinkie tripped over a hard object on the ground. When she got up and felt around it in the dark, she realized it was steel. A rail.
A track.
"The Ponyville Mines..." She whispered to herself, recalling an old mare's tail she had heard as a filly. It was said that if a pony came in, they wouldn't come out.
Pinkie followed the rails, and the twists and curves they made. When suddenly, her front hoof sunk into pure air, and she fell forward.
There was a thud, and a sickening crack as she landed on a hard metal grate. She gave a short scream, and then a moan as slipped into unconsciousness for a brief moment from the pain. She was sure that her leg, and perhaps a few of her ribs, were broken from the long fall. A wave of pain rushed down her body, and she winced. It was unbearable, and there was no magic to help numb the pain...
Not here, in this place.
There was a short, sharp giggle from above her, and the pony who looked so eerily similar to Pinkie looked down.
"You idiot!" She laughed. "Decided to follow your white rabbit down the rabbit hole did you? Not a wise move Pinkie."
Pinkie glared up at the pony, despite her overwhelming pain. "Who in Celestia's name are you?!"
The pony giggled and said,"That's a surprise."
Pinkie snarled,"TELL ME NOW OR I'LL-"
"Pfft. Or what?" The pony said loftily. "You'll escape? I don't think so. But, I guess it wouldn't hurt to spoil it. Not like you can tell any other pony. I'm a clone from the Mirror Pool. I wasn't there for your little game... And I eventually grew more intellegent. I had to be patient if I wanted to execute my plan perfectly. I watched you, and your friends. I studied them. And now that you're out of the way... I get to have some fun..."
Pinkie growled and leaned forward, but winced as the pain shot up her leg. "WHAT ARE YOU-"
The clone snickered,"Relax Pinkie. I'm just gonna throw a little party and let your friends play some games..."
The way the pony said the words chilled Pinkie to the core. "W...Why are you doing this to me?"
The pony laughed. "That's a surprise..."
Author's Note
So, while I'm pretty new to the site, this is my first story, and my first Grimdark!
I'm actually not that dark of a person. Im a young, pretty happy kid, but I love scary stories and wanted to try my hoof at writing one!
It may not seem too dark now, but I'm thinking things are gonna get pretty messy in a few chapters, so that's why I gave it a mature rating with the gore factor.
Anyways, hope you guys enjoy the story so far, and any constructive criticism, thoughts, comments, or errors you find would be great to know!
Chapter 2 will hopefully be out soon, as this first one only took a few days!
Hope you enjoy my first Grimdark!
(also I am freaking IN LOVE with these pony emoticons... So adorble...
