Springtrapped
Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust
Previous ChapterNext ChapterSpringtrap hung almost lifelessly over Fredbear's shoulder as they walked through the castle; He would struggle from time to time, but not enough to break free from the animatronic's intense grip. Given his special circumstance the Princess ordered special psychologists to the castle and established a private room where they could recondition and hopefully recover the mind of the mutilated man within the suit. With luck, maybe he would go back to the way he was. The sun princess led the giant demonic-looking bear to the room where he would drop Springtrap's body. "You can set him down in here, Fredbear. Thank you."
The animatronic nodded and entered the room, tossing Springtrap to the ground. Once on the ground he tried to get back up, only to be met with a large metal bear claw to the side of his head. He fell back to the ground and stayed still as his brain tried to recuperate from the impact.
Fredbear turned to leave the room, but before it could get to the door its sensors picked up on physical contact being made on its leg. It looked down to see Springtrap grabbing onto it, but barely. "F-f-fr-f-Fredb-b-bear..."
"Yes, Trevor?" It responded, it's programming keeping it from ignoring it's creator.
"C-c-c-co-c-code...blue..." He simply said, sounding almost as if he were chuckling.
Celestia stared at him, both with worry and confusion. While her heart was yearning for him to be well and get better, her mind was wondering what 'Code Blue' meant. And, much to her surprise, Springtrap released Fredbear from his grip and allowed himself to shut down on the floor.
Fredbear exited the room just before Celestia could seal it. She looked up at the animatronic with a questioning gaze before deciding to ask what all of that was. "Fredbear, what's code blue?"
Fredbear didn't reply, just turned and walked away. Celestia followed it to see where it was going, but eventually found herself standing outside of the old workshop Trevor and Spring Lock worked in. She stopped as Fredbear entered; she didn't want to go back in there. Part of her felt like something was off, but she ignored the feeling of dread filling her and walked away.
Luna retrieved the requested medical staff and led them to area of which they were assigned; more specifically, to Springtrap. Once they were all in their places they started working out plans on how to approach the creature while Luna set off to find her sister. She eventually found Celestia in the throne room. She appeared to be deep in thought, so much so that she was completely oblivious to the mountain of paperwork in front of her.
The night princess approached her older sister slowly, as to not startle her. "Sister, are you fairing well?"
Celestia snapped out of her thoughts and blinked a few times before looking up at Luna and giving her a gentle smile. "I'm fine, sister. But, thank you for your concern."
Luna lifted a hoof and placed it on her sister's shoulder. "I understand that all of this is taking its toll on you. Perhaps you should step down for a while and get some rest. I can take care of things around here."
Celestia nodded disapprovingly, "No Luna, I couldn't ask such a thing from you."
"You don't have to." She replied, letting Celestia know that she wasn't giving her a choice.
The two smiled at each other before Celestia rose from her throne and made her way to her room, stopping as she made it to the throne room doors to look back at her little sister. "Thank you, Luna."
Twilight hummed to herself as Spring Lock explained some of the blueprints to the animatronics to her. As he spoke Twilight rapidly took notes, making sure not to miss even a single detail. They had remained in the workshop while the others took care of Springtrap so Twilight could talk to Spring Lock about the animatronics.
"I see, and how do these work?" She asked, pointing to an enlarged image of a battery, the same kind that was used to power the animatronics.
"Well princess," Spring Lock began, "you know as well as any other pony that everything in this world contains magic, right?"
"Of course, it's practically how everything here survives."
"Well, many years ago Trevor and I found these stones, each one containing almost no magic at all. After a few studies we discovered two very important thing; The first being that they were extremely fragile, they had to be handled with extreme care. The second was that they could absorb magic, making in nearly impossible to lift them via levitation."
"That's so fascinating!" Twilight exclaimed. She had never heard of a stone that could absorb magic.
"Indeed it is! Eventually, Trevor came up with an idea on how to move the stones without them breaking while hopefully retaining their strange effects." Spring Lock levitated a cup and a small rubber ball of to him, demonstrating what they did as he spoke. "He suggested that we take the stones and submerge them in liquid metal." As he said this he levitated the small ball into the cup. "I thought that the stones would have been destroyed by the heat, but they didn't. Instead when we pulled them out they were perfectly fine, in fact, they were better than ever. Unicorns still couldn't lift them with their magic, but transporting them became so much easier."
Twilight reached over and grabbed one of the batteries they had removed from Springtrap with a hoof to her to observe it. "So beneath all this metal and wires is a stone that can drain magic?"
Spring Lock nodded, "Yes, princess. And, if manipulated properly, it can give magic rather than just drain it, but not without having some previously stored within it."
Twilight was about to ask another wave of questions until one particular set of blueprints caught her eye. She set the battery down and levitated over a large diagram of Fredbear. After eyeing the design itself she flipped it over to see a very extensive list on the back. "Spring Lock, what are these for?"
The old unicorn leaned over to examine the paper. "Ah, that's a list of special commands. That way if their was something Trevor wanted done, but wanted to be discreet about, he could just say on of these. Each on has a different meaning, but to my knowledge most are for its defensive programming."
Twilight continued to read down the almost never-ending list of commands. "Do you know what any of these mean?"
"Well, he did tell me a few. Operation Ghost: That was one so that if he needed to hide, or if he were being attacked, Fredbear would stuff him into his large stomach to keep him safe."
"So is that why he was designed to be so much more...round?" She asked.
"I assume so." He replied, "One other one I know for sure is Code Yellow; which would cause Fredbear to attack any living thing on sight, minus the ones he was programmed to protect."
Twilight was slightly disturbed by this. Who would want something like that? "Why would he make something that would attack any living creature? I don't see any reason to make something-"
"Pardon my interruption, princess, but I've already explained this to you. Trevor was extremely paranoid, he would imagine a thousand different ways that something could go wrong just going out to get breakfast."
Twilight's ears dropped, part of her felt so bad for him. She couldn't imagine what it must be like to end up in a world you don't understand, to be in constant fear that something was going to happen, or that something was out to get you.
"Princess, would you mind doing me a favor and not reading any of those out to Fredbear." Spring Lock said, making Twilight's head turn to face the wrinkled stallion. "After he had finished putting all of those together he said that he had installed a self-destruct command. I'm sure he was just joking, but I've been wrong about him before." He finished, levitating a sheet of paper and a quill in front of him and scribbling something down. "And would you mind delivering this to Trevor for me?"
Twilight was slightly in shock from hearing of the possibility of such a destructive command being in Fredbear's programming. She would have to go through his files and delete everything in there, start from scratch. She shook it off for the time being, she was going to do a complete sweep on Frebears' programming regardless of what Spring Lock would have to say. It was simply too dangerous. Once her thoughts were cleared she agreed to deliver the paper to Trevor's room and grabbed it with her magic before marching out of the workshop.
Spring Lock took a breath and opened up a cabinet on the desk they were sitting at, pulling out a small flask and taking a quick but satisfying drink; Only to nearly choke on the liquid as he became startled by Fredbear's unexpected entrance.
Twilight made her way through the castle until she finally managed to make it to the room where they were holding Springtrap. The doctors were going over notes of what they could figure out from talking with him and coming up with several different theories and tests they could do to help him. She smiled at this, although it wasn't going to be all that pleasant, she knew that Trevor was going to get the help he needed. However, her thoughts became silenced as she opened the door to see Trevor sitting in a metal chair that had been recently bolted to the ground with chains holding him in place.
The princess of friendship turned to face the doctors, glaring at them with such intensity that they could practically feel her looking at them. They immediately turned bowed to her as she made her way over to them. "Would one of you mind explaining to me why our friend here is currently wrapped up like some kind of wild animal?"
"We're sorry, princess." One of them began, "We had to do it. When we went in there he attacked us on sight. Doctor Septum had to be taken to the hospital."
Twilight let out an annoyed sight and walked away from the group, entering the now prison-like room. She couldn't help but shudder as Springtrap's eyes locked onto her, becoming more and more focused the closer she got. She forced a smile and took a seat a few feet from him. "Hello, Trevor. How are you holding up?"
He glared at her, his eyes flickering back and forth from white to red. "I told you, my name is Springtrap you stupid horse." He growled, his eyes eventually resting one their normal white color, "And as you can see, I'm just peachy."
Twilight's features dropped, "We're going to help you, Trevor. You're not you right now, you're mind is all over the place and your emotions are completely unstable. We want to help you; we WILL help you, I promise." She levitated the paper Spring Lock had given to her and placed it face-up in his lap.
Springtrap looked down at the paper; it was a letter. He didn't bother reading it. Instead he looked up at the clock and started to laugh. At first it was soft, but then it became something loud and mildly disturbing. "You...you have no idea how badly you've fucked up." He said, still chuckling slightly. "You can't help me, you couldn't even help Spring Lock."
She tilted her head slightly. "What are you-" Her body suddenly became very tense as what sounded like a massive explosion went off, shaking the whole castle and making it go dark.
Springtrap's eyes quickly flashed red as he started struggling against the chains, eventually applying enough pressure to make them snap and fall apart. With his new-found freedom he stood up straight and tall and reached down to grab Twilight who yelped and charged her horn before quickly teleporting away. He looked about the room, his sensors telling him that the floor beneath him was becoming weaker with every passing second. He would need to escape and soon, but not before he made completely sure that he had finished what he started.
Twilight appeared in the throne room to find the royal sisters sending out guards help anypony in need as well as figure out what had happened. She ran over to the two, "Princess Celestia! Princess Luna! What happened?"
Before either of them could answer a small group of guards flew in and stopped before the princesses. "Your highness, there appears to have been a massive explosion in the abandoned workshop. Everypony is being evacuated, we need to get you out of here now!"
They were about to leave until Twilight pointed out something that made their hearts sink. "Wait, Spring Lock was in there! We need to see if he's okay!"
The royal sisters looked to each other and nodded with stern expressions on their faces. "Let us go find him then." Luna stated as Celestia waved off the guards.
The three then charged for the workshop, upon arriving they discovered that the explosion had hardly touched the rest of the castle, but it started a raging fire that threatened to consume the entire north wing. They moved faster, being careful to avoid any and all debris as well as the fire that was quickly spreading.
They searched the room from top to bottom, finding pieces of Fredbear surrounding a crater in the cement floor. After about a minute of searching Celestia eventually heard the sound of groaning coming from one of the corners of the room.
She ran over to find Spring Lock, bloody and bruised with severe burns covering half of his body, buried under a collection of broken animatronic pieces. "He's here!" She announced to the others, who quickly made their way over.
The two looked at him with wide eyes, wondering how he was still alive. "Spring Lock," Luna began, "what happened? You must tell us!"
Spring Lock let out a few light coughs, "Fredbear, it just...It just blew up...It...Code blue...it kept saying code blue..." Spring Lock suddenly became unconscious. He had gone through a lot and the fact that he hadn't been at least knocked out earlier was a miracle.
Twilight put a hoof to her mouth, "Is he okay?" She asked, hoping, praying that there was a chance for him to survive.
Celestia nodded, "I'm sorry, but I don't know if he's going to make it." A large chunk of the ceiling collapsed, landing less than a foot away from them. Celestia quickly levitated the old stallion onto her back. "Come on, we need to get out of here before the whole castle falls down on top of us."
They gathered into the corner and started charging their magic, getting ready to teleport themselves a safe distance from the burning structure. A metal arm suddenly tore through the concrete wall behind them, both disrupting Celstia's spell and grabbing Spring Lock. Once it had a hold of the unconscious unicorn it pulled the body through the wall and into another burning room with two standing pillars.
Twilight and Luna didn't notice what had happened until it was too late and teleported several yards from the castle where a large group of guards quickly emerged and surrounded them. "No! We have to go back!" Twilight shouted, trying to push pass the guards.
Luna put a hoof on Twilight, making her stop her attempts. "No, Twilight! It's far too dangerous."
"But Celestia is still in there."
"Celestia will be fine!" She yelled, making Twilight recoil from her slightly, "She has trifled with far worse than an over-grown metal rabbit. I have faith that she will make it through this."
Celestia charged through the hole in the wall and slammed into Springtrap, causing him to stumble and drop Spring Lock. She then charged at him again, this time tackling him to the ground and pinning him beneath her. "Trevor! Please stop this!"
Springtrap lifted his head and slammed it into Celestia's, making her loose her footing which gave him more than enough of an opportunity to break out of her grip. He slid his arms out from under her hooves and reached up, wrapping his metal fingers around her neck as he pulled himself to his feet and threw her across the room and into a pillar. The pillar crack from the impact and started to crumble, causing the entire front half of the room collapsed on top of the princess, covering her in a mixture of soot, blackened tiles, and burning wood. He didn't bother watching as part of the ceiling caved in on top of her and instead turned his attention back to Spring Lock. As he made his way over he found his body suddenly being launched pass his target and into a wall by a broken piece of the pillar that had collapsed.
Celestia pulled herself from the rubble. She had a few burns here and there, and one of her wings had broken and hung down by her side, but she wasn't done yet. She lifted another piece of the broken pillar with her magic and threw it at Springtrap. It slammed into him, making his suit crack in several places and even even breaking off part of his mask, revealing part of his decaying face. He pushed the pillar pieces off of him and shakily started walking toward Celestia.
Celestia was staring at him with tears in her eyes, she didn't want to do this, but she didn't have a choice anymore. He wasn't going to stop, he would never stop. "Please Trevor...please..." She pleaded to the man who she loved so dearly.
Spring Trap continued to make his way over to her, his eyes glowing bright red and only shining brighter as he let out an inhuman roar at her. There was no love left in his heart, no remorse in his eyes, all that was left was rage and death.
Celestia closed her eyes and teleported beside Spring Lock before engulfing the unicorns body in her magic and making it vanish. Springtrap only seemed to get much angrier at this, of course. What else would happen, this wan't Trevor anymore. This was a monster, this was Springtrap. Celestia wasn't happy about this, but this was the only thing left. "I love you, Trevor." She said as Springtrap let out an ear-piercing screech and her lunged at her. Before he could make contact with her she used her magic to yank the last standing pillar in the room out of place and teleported away.
The pillar let out a loud crack as it was pulled out of its original place and forced to the ground. The room around him started to shake and the ceiling started coming down, fast. He barely had the chance to take a step forward as the room above came down on top of him, burying him beneath layers upon layers of debris. The sensors in the suit were going haywire, flashing red with warning as he and the suit were both crushed and fire filled the room.
Celestia appeared just a few feet from where Luna and Twilight had with Spring Lock laying not even a few inches from where she was. The guard had noticed her and were now on their way over to aid her; she couldn't have cared less though. Celestia looked up at her castle, it was surrounded by ponies of all kinds doing everything they could to stop the flames that were eating away at her home.
The surrounding ponies all gasped and screamed as the towers caved in and fell into the base of structure, forcing up large black clouds of ash and soot.
She didn't know if anypony else had heard it, but when the tower had fallen, she heard the same screech Springtrap had made when he lunged at her.
With that she decided that it was about time for her to get some much needed rest and fainted in dirt just as the guards had reached her position.
