Sunset Shimmer stood on top of Canterlot High's rooftop as the sun began to set. She loved coming up here after school hours to think about the day's events. It allowed her to clear her mind and put things into perspective. She had been in this world for four years, and never once looked at the sunset up until Twilight helped her see the path she was taking was the wrong one. All she wanted was to have power and knowledge; to be able to understand how the universe worked, how things happened. She thought Celestia was keeping her from that knowledge out of fear. Fear not for Sunset Shimmer's well being, no. Celestia was afraid of being overthrown by her should she gain enough power to do so. Sunset would have never taken that position from her had Celestia just given her what she wanted.
Looking back on the person she was while in Equestria, she couldn't believe she was that impatient, that misguided, that stupid. She just wanted to show those foals who made fun of her when she was a filly. She remembered coming home from school crying and running up to her room because she didn't have her cutie mark yet. Being a blank flank was hard on her. There were times where she didn't even want to go to school but had to anyway. She cared about her studies too much to even miss a day. Those bullies were not going to stop her from her love of learning, of figuring out equations. Now, as she stood on top of the school's roof, she did it with confidence and pride that she got through her rough patch of life. Now, she is a strong mare in a world virtually alien to her, though it recently started to feel less alien.
Sunset walked back to the door leading to the roof as the sun finally set to rest for the night. As she opened the door to leave, she stopped and looked back at the quiet town. All the lights were slowly going off in each houses. She imagined all parents tucking their children into beds, reading them bed time stories and kissing them good night. Those parents then would settle into their beds for the night, getting comfy with their significant other. Some of them would be sleeping, resting up for work tomorrow. Some of them would be getting intimate with each other after having gotten their kids to bed. Sunset shed a single tear as she walked down the stairs closing the door behind her.
Sunset woke up the next morning to the sound of her alarm clock. Sitting up in her bed, she rubbed her eyes, yawning as she stretched out her arms. She scratched herself as she smacked her lips. Pulling back the covers, she plopped out of bed, turned off the alarm clock and headed to the bathroom. Opening the faucet, she cupped water in her hands and splashed her face with it. After drying off, she noticed how she looked in the mirror. Who stared back at her was unrecognizable; her hair was all messed up; clumps of hair sticking at weird angles all over the place. She had bags under her eyes. Not exactly what she would call attractive, to anyone. She lifted up her arm and smelled her armpits. Having arms and legs in place of hooves still felt strange and disorienting to her; even after four years of being in this world. She still found herself trying to use her magic to lift things but then remembered she doesn't have a horn anymore. That got a bit awkward in the past.
"I need a shower, " Sunset said as she walked out of the bathroom. "I smell like a dumpster."
She went to her dresser and took out one pair of white panties, a couple towels and a wash cloth to use in the shower. Heading back into the bathroom, Sunset put the towels on top of the toilet. She took her pajama pants off first, throwing it in the laundry basket by the toilet. She did this with the rest of her clothes. After that was done, she opened the door to the shower, stepped in and closed the door. Regulating the water to be just right, she opened the faucet. As the water poured out, she winced from the coldness of the water, but gradually, it settled into a warmer temperature .. Sunset Shimmer stood there as the water hit her naked body, Looking down at her breasts, sighed, and continued her shower.
As she came out of the bathroom while drying her hair, she noticed Spike waiting for her on the bed.
"Spike, what are you doing here?" Sunset asked as she continued to get ready.
"Twilight asked me to come get you for breakfast." said Spike as he wagged his tail.
"I am pretty hungry. What did she make?"
"Pancakes with sausage."
"That sounds nice. Go tell her I'll be in the kitchen soon, Spike." Sunset said as she petted him.
Spike saluted Sunset shimmer, jumped off the bed, and went out of the door. Sunset couldn't help but smile at Twilight's pet who had gained the ability to talk after the Friendship Games incident. After Twilight's transformation, Sunset decided to spend time at her house for a few weeks to make sure she'd be okay. There was bound to be some residual magic left in her body after absorbing all that energy thanks to principal Cinch pressuring her to unleash the magic so they could win what was supposed to be a friendly competition between two schools. She was so worried about her school's reputation that she'd willingly put Twilight and everyone else in danger without even understanding what might happen when the power was unleashed. Sunset wondered where principal Cinch was right now. She did threaten to tell everyone about what had gone on there; about magic and students with wings, godly battles. She would be laughed out of the building if she went to the school board and told them such a crazy story. She would be right about all of it, but good luck getting someone to believe you without evidence. Sometimes people don't even believe stories, even when they are given evidence. Sunset got up from the bed, took out a shirt from one of the drawers, put it on. She grabbed a skirt from another drawer. After that was done, she picked up her backpack and left her room closing the door behind her.
Sunset walked into the kitchen just as Twilight put the plates down on the table. She took a seat where one of the plates had been placed. Scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage stared back at her. Even after all these years of being in the human world, she still could not believe they ate other animals. Ponies in Equestria didn't consume meat; they had a diet of oats and hay, apples, and sugar cubes. There were humans who only ate vegetables and fruits in this world. Sunset tried to be on a diet like that but soon found that she didn't have a lot of energy to do certain things. After doing some research, she found that she'd need to consume meats as well as other assortment of foods to be healthy. It was hard at first to eat meat. She threw up a lot during those weeks of slowly getting used to eating meat. She eventually got through it though.
"Is everything cooked alright?" Twilight asked as she sat down to eat.
"Yes, everything is delicious, Twi." Sunset said as she took another bite.
Twilight pulled a chair away from the table so Spike could jump on. Twilight had told her about the time when she had met Fluttershy in front of Canterlot high while studying the strange magic she and her friends gave off. Twilight was in the bushes while Fluttershy opened her backpack, letting out a cute kitten from it. Fluttershy asked Twilight if she wanted to give her a treat, to which she nodded. After a little bit, Fluttershy began to pony up, causing the device Twilight had created to start absorbing her magic. While absorbing her magic, multiple portals opened up. A strange creature came out of one of the portals, causing Spike to chase it around. After jumping into a few portals, Twilight managed to close the device, making the portals disappear.
However, something happened to Spike in the process of jumping through a bunch of portals while chasing a jackrabbit looking creature; he had gained the ability to talk. This completely freaked Twilight out at first. Which anyone would be freaked out if they heard their dog talk out of no where. Twilight grew used to the idea of her dog talking, which was good for Spike. I'm sure Spike would be crushed if Twilight ever abandoned him.
Now, as Sunset watched Spike as he sat on the chair, she couldn't help but find it adorable. His eyes couldn't reach over the table due to him being such a small dog. He had to stand on his hind legs and put his forelegs on the table. Sunset remembered ponies had to do something similar at times, which can cause pain if done for long periods of time.
"So, where's my scrambled eggs and bacon?" Spike said panting.
"Sorry, Spike, but I am not giving you human food." Twilight said as she petted him. "You'll just have to eat your regular dog food.
"Aw, come on, Twilight." said Spike with puppy dog eyes.
"No, Spike," Twilight said as she waved her finger "I said no."
Spike, disappointed he didn't get any food from either of their plates, jumped off the chair. Sunset watched as Spike walked off into the living room with his tail between his legs. It broke her heart a little to see Spike like that. However, this was Twilight's house and she made the rules. Sunset's presence here was to keep an eye on Twilight to make sure all the magic was out of her system. However, this was still Twilight's house, and as such, she was the one who was in charge of the household rules. She wondered if Spike felt weird having the ability to suddenly speak to humans. This Spike wasn't like the Spike from Equestria. He was a regular dog and dogs didn't talk in this world usually.
"Can't you give him some eggs?" Sunset asked pointing to the living room.
"I have never given him any food from the table before he could talk and I'm not about to start now." Twilight took another bite of her food.
"What possible harm could it do to give him some table food for just once?"
"I don't want him to learn bad habits, that's all." Twilight said as she stood up, picked up her plate, and put it in the sink.
"I suppose you are right. He doesn't seem to like that food though." Sunset said, making an observation.
"He seemed to like it just fine before. I'm not sure why he would hate it now though. Anyways, are you ready to go to school?"
Twilight grabbed her keys from the rack where keys are usually kept. She put on her jacket , grabbed her backpack from the floor next to the main door and opened the door. Sunset was right behind her. While on her way out, she stopped and looked at Spike. He looked at her with those puppy dog eyes that said: Don't leave me alone. I hate being alone. It broke her heart enough that she didn't consider he could have just told her that. Instead, he went for the gut punch, Sunset walked to him, knelt down and petted him.
"We won't be gone for long, Spike. I promise." Sunset said while holding him. She kissed his forehead.
"Promise to go for a walk with me later, Sunny?" Spiked asked, tail wagging.
"I promise, Spike."
Sunset Shimmer got up, turned around and walked out the door as the sound of the lock turning into place was heard.

Author's note:
Due to someone's suggestions after reading my fic, I updated the part where Sunset talks about needing a shower after smelling her armpit. They suggested I add some more emotion to that scene and to the fic in general. I will try to keep this in mind in later chapters. I'll begin on chapter 1 fairly soon. Thanks to everyone who has reviewed this so far.
