Pain.
Pain had become a constant companion to Sonata over the last month. So, even with the burning feeling in her stomach and the cracking of her bones, she continued to run through the wet and dark back alleys. Her ripped jacket and skirt gave her no protection from the torrential rain and hard winds.
After cursing a group of garbage cans in her way, Sonata dropped to her knees in an attempt to catch her breathe. As she sat there, her mind began to wonder over the months events. All from the sacking of Crystal Prep and the different lives who were destroyed and changed due to her activities.
Sonata’s skin crawled in disgust at her actions. As the memories came flooding back, it caused her to begin to weep, her tears mixing with the rain and fell into the puddles of water that lapped at her feet.
“I just wanna go home” Sonata choked out as her sobs became louder.
Her sobs were interrupted by the sudden appearance of a strong burning pain through-out her body.
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!”
Her screams tore through the air and alerted Adagio and Sunset who were in a different part of the alley maze.
“That was Sonata right?”
Adagio nodded at Sunset’s question and began running towards the screaming that was echoing off the walls.
Unfortunately, they weren’t the only one’s the hear it.
“I heard the bitch! She’s this way” Sour Sweet screamed at the group of Shadow Bolts who were following her as they searched for Sonata. Upon hearing Sour Sweet’s announcement the group began to charge through the alleys in an attempt to find Sonata before her Sunset did.
Sonata had heard the different voices echoing through the air and had tried crawling away from the different groups. Unfortunately, her speed was close to nought due to the pain in her stomach and head.
“They’re coming, you need to let me out!”
Sonata stopped crawling and turned to one the windows of the abandoned buildings that surrounded her. Instead of nothing, as she’d expected, a dark figure was standing in the reflection of the glass, looking at Sonata with a bored/angry expression.
“If they catch you, they’ll probably do many horrible things in search of me. Let me out and I’ll sort it out for you”.
Sonata looked away from the broken reflection and continued to crawl away, causing the reflection to groan in annoyance.
“You really are the worst, Sonata”. The reflection’s eyes flashed red, causing Sonata to scream in pain.
Sonata smashed her fist into a puddle in an action of pain. As the pain died down and became mild throbbing her attention turned to her left hand, that’s pigment had turned from blue to purple.
“If I’m honest, you can’t stop what I want to do”.
Sonata screamed in rage and punched the ground, causing the puddle she was resting in the splash out and ripple around her figure. As Sonata caught her breathe and the water around her settled her face turned to horror as the reflection in the water was of the girl from the window.
“I will get what I want, Sonata. While you rest, I’ll live on!”
With the reflection’s last word her hand shot out the puddle and wrapped her fingers around Sonata’s neck. As the pressure was applied to Sonata’s throat more of her skin began to take a light purple hue, along with a darker purple hue for her hair.
At the same time, thick red veins began protruding from the skin surrounding her eyes as her fingers grew and her back cracked. All the new sensations caused Sonata to scream again, this time it wasn’t high and feminine but low and gravely.
This scream was also heard by Adagio and Sunset.
“Where did that one come from?” Sunset questioned as they frantically ran through the dark alleys.
“This way!” The two former equestrians sprinted down the darkest alley yet, only to stop dead in their tracks at the site of a shivering form in their way.
“Sonata?” As Sunset voiced her question Sour Sweet and two other Crystal Prep students had arrived but, they too were stopped by the site of the shivering mass.
“Sonata? It’s me, Adagio. Your sister. I’ve come to take you home.”
As Adagio spoke she took a few steps towards Sonata. However, as she did the shivering mass had stopped shivering and was now taking slow, deep breaths. After a second the mass lifted her head and let their dark purple hair cascade down their shoulders and onto her back and stretched her light purple arms out and releasing a long sigh.
Sunset took a step to the left and tensed as the mass slowly turned on the spot, revealing her twisted pale eyes and sharp teeth that lined her mouth. As the new girl stared at Sunset and the rest of the crowd as her breathing began to normalize.
Sunset took one look at the girl and swallowed in anger, along with the Crystal Prep students.
“Aria.”
As Sunset said her name Aria’s head snapped to her eyes and her breathing picked up again. Aria roared at Sunset as her irises flashed light blue and the veins spread across her face.
Aria pounced towards Sunset, her sharp nails aimed directly at Sunset’s throat. Time seemed to slow down for Sunset as her legs seemed to turn solid and uncooperative with her. Aria flew closer to her and just as the nails were about to touch Sunset’s neck…
Just then the image turned frozen and lines of static appeared, like the pause of an old VHS. As the picture continued fizzing Pinkie Pie appeared off from the right off the screen, holding a large stack of paper.
“Um, author we may be too far into this. We’ve missed a ton of stuff. I mean if you start here, the audience is gonna get confused”.
Pinkie closed her script and walked over to the screen and looked straight out.
“Hey, sorry about that guys, the author got a little itty bitty ahead of himself. But don’t you worry, Aunt Pinkie will have it back on track for the next chapter. Bye!!!”

Chapter one of a new story I came up with.
Been planning this for a while and the inspiration hit me while listening to the confrontation from the Jekyll and Hyde musical.

Oh, and Pinkie at the end was used as I've always hated how I normally do these "sliver of future as the first chapter" things. Thought the humor would break the ice well, it'll be needed :)
