//-------------------------------------------------------// The Stench -by Girl In The Black Mask- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Stench(Short Story) //-------------------------------------------------------// The Stench(Short Story) "Braeburn, I have to go home to her! She is waiting!" You say, boarding the train and ignoring your cousin's pleas for you to say. He is drunk, you think. The train speeds up, and within a few hours, you are at ponyville. Warmth floods you. You will get to see her. You say hi and go to your sister. "Mac!" AppleJack says "You better go see you know who before she gets too lonely!" You nod, and AppleJack has everyone calm down. You only walk away, leaving your bags there and your harness feeling light as a feather. You adjust your saddlebags, headed towards the forest and the cottage. The closer you are to her, the better! You trot down the path, smiling to yourself. You don't notice that it is too quiet or that the animals are unnaturally very sad. They stare at you with sad, lifeless expressions. You tell yourself it's your imagination. You arrive at your lawn and stop. The grass... "It's too long... She would never let this happen..." You say. The lawn is overgrown, flowers died. Plants turned brown and flakey. One thing catches your attention and sticks out the most. A dead baby bird. A stench crosses your muzzle, filling your nostrils. It stinks and makes you cough. Your harness suddenly feels too heavy around your neck. You run a hoof through your blonde mane. You shake your head "This can't be happening!" you shout and stomp your hoof on the ground. Maybe she is just sick... You walk into the cottage and the stench hits you like a blow to the chest. You sputter and cough. You walk into the living room from the doorway, looking for anything. "Honey?!" You call loudly. The living room has bags of spilled bird seed and animal stands are ruined and laying on their sides or falling apart. You move into the kitchen. "Honey!?" You call again. Pots, pans, glasses, bowls, and other dishes clutter the sink and they are all dirty. You move around the house, finding it a mess. Finally, you are standing outside the bedroom door. Your eyes fill with tears. You put your hoof on the door handle. "Honey?" You say softly, swinging the door open slowly. Nopony. You know there is one more place. A place she dreaded. She always asked you to go in there, she was always scared. A tear escapes your eye. You blame it on the stench. What could possibly be in there besides an animal's dead body? She must've gone crazy. You walk slowly through the house and to the closet. The stench emits from behind the door. You put your hoof to the doorknob, finding it blocked. You step back, prepare yourself, and let your muscular, red legs fly through the air. They hit the door and the door pops open. The stench floods your nostrils, throwing you into a fit of coughs. After your done, you turn, taken back by what is there. A chair on the floor, the one you knocked down. Another chair on the floor. A rope hangs from the ceiling. A noose. Then your eyes fall on the lifeless yellow pegasus. Her tongue hangs out and bugs crawl on her. A bug slowly crawls along her tongue. Her pink mane is astray and crazy and tangled. Her soft tail falls to the floor, messy and tangled. Her eyes are closed in a way you know they won't open again like they used to. A pang hits your heart. Your knees buckle and you fall to the floor. Tears stream down your face freely. You pull your head up towards the sky "FLUTTERSHY!!!!" //-------------------------------------------------------// Afterwords //-------------------------------------------------------// Afterwords At Fluttershy's Funeral   Your head hangs, your quiet sobs racking your shoulders slightly. Celestia has tears in her eyes, and the mane 6 are openly crying. You sit near the casket. Her frame was so horrifying it had to be a closed casket funeral. You don't listen to the ponies. You just remember the tremble and uncertainty in Fluttershy's voice before you left. 'I should have sensed something was up. I should have been a better husband...' You think. You step up when Celestia calls your name, but say few things. You mainly talk about how she was so kind and loving.
