Lightning Dust's life didn't turn out the way she wanted it to. She thought of being popular, socially invincible. Ever since Rainbow confronted her in front of the academy, she has been bullied at school. She thought of quitting but then she'd have to go home. Her parents are drug addicts, they don't care about her. She takes up drinking as a way to stave off the emotions but today she thinks she just might end it all.

A pony finds out about her problems in a note and throws himself into a race against time to stop her. To save her from herself. Not because he's friends with her, not because he knows who she is.
