Chapter one: Waking up to ash and dust.
Rainbow Dash's point of view
I slowly began to wake up.
"Ugh... What-" I started, before noticing I was in some sort of desert.
"Am I in appleloosa? No, I don't recognize this place. Where am I?" I saw a structure in the distance. "Maybe there is somepony there?" I said to myself in a hopeful voice. I flew over towards the main road, and followed it to the town. I saw a sign that said 'GoodSprings' When I got about half way there, I heard a noise behind me, and turned to see a huge lizard creeping up on me on it's hind legs. I shrieked, and it began to run. I still was able to out run it, but I started running too late.
It jumped on me, and began to try to bite me with it's razor-like teeth.
"Somepony! Anypony! Help me!" I called out, hoping somepony would hear.
Crack!
The loud noise made my ears ring, but I am sure I screamed when the lizard's head exploded, resulting in me being showered in blood. The ringing didn't last long, and soon I could hear again. My eyes where squeezed shut. I felt something touch me, and I cracked open one eye. After seeing some huge bipedal creature, both eyes shot open, and I tried to scream, but nothing came out.
"Do you understand me?" It said. I looked over it's face. Blue eyes, brown mane, no fur but a pale skin, and a blood covered bandage around his forehead.
"What are you?!" I asked, my voice nearly cracking. It winced when I spoke.
"Woah. You can talk?" It was amazed. I felt a warm liquid run down my wing, and I looked to see it was cut open by that lizard's claws. I just stared in horror at it.
"Yeah, let me fix that up." Said the creature kneeling down over me. It then pulled out a needle and jabbed it into my wing. I watched as my wing began to heal before my eyes. He pulled out the needle and tossed it aside. "Need help getting to your hooves? That is what they are called, right?"
"Yeah..." I said, letting it help me up. "What are you, anyway?"
"Oh. I am a human, job: Courier. Basically, a long distance mail-man." It said. "My name is John, but my old friends call me Johnny. I guess you can, too. What is your name?"
"Rainbow Dash, Fastest flier in all of Equestria."
"Never heard of 'Equestria', is that a foreign planet?" Johnny said. "This planet is named Earth. You are in the Mojave wasteland, right by the town of GoodSprings. Also, watch out for geckos." He added, kicking the body of the 'gecko'.
"So that is what that was? A gecko? It looks different than the geckos in Equu." I said. "Equu is the name of the planet I am from." I added.
"Well, Those are mutated from the pre-war geckos. These come in many forms, but this is just a gecko hunter." He said.
"Pre-war? There was a war?" I asked.
"Two-hundred years ago. The world is now a huge wasteland, with the exception of California, where the NCR is from. That and the New Vegas strip. The strip is untouched."
"Okay... Why is there blood on your forehead, let alone a bandage?" I asked, and his smile faded.
"I was shot in the head by a man in a checkered suit, and buried in a shallow grave, and my delivery was stolen." He looked at the sun, which was setting. "Come on, let's get back to GoodSprings. I have a house there. It isn't the best, only one bed. But it is better than most houses." With that we walked over to the town, and it reminded me of Appleloosa. Another one of Johnny's type came up to him.
"Hey there, sticking around GoodSprings a little longer?" She said. It is a she, right?
"Hey, Sunny, Yes, and I have someone to introduce to you." He said, gesturing to me. "This is Rainbow Dash."
"Aw. It's cute."
"I am not cute..." I said with a huff.
"It can talk? Oh man, in the morning, you have to show her to Trudy! She loves animals, and would be thrilled to meet one that can talk."
"Okay, I'll do that first thing in the morning. But I need sleep, and I am sure she needs sleep, too." He than looked at me. "You are a girl, right?"
"Yes."
"Okay, cool." He said, leading me to a house. He opened the door and held it form me.
I looked around the house, and was kinda saddened, like it had a sad story to it. I curled up on a rug, and fell asleep.
I woke up on the couch. So, he moved me to the couch, Well, it is more comfy. I smelled something cooking. It smelled like beans. I walked into the kitchen, to see a box of cereal on the table, and Johnny cooking at the stove. He looked over to me.
"Good morning. There is cereal on the table if you want some. I am having pork and beans."
"What is 'pork'?" I asked.
"Don't freak out, but pork is pig meat." He said, then saw my worried expression. "No, no, no! I won't hurt you!" He said, calming me down a bit.
"Hurry up and eat, I got to show you to Trudy."
Today is gonna be a long day...
