Spring Love
Dinky's Question
Load Full StoryNext ChapterDinky, unlike her mother, was a normal filly. She didn't have derp eyes, also known as cross-eyes. Dinky was playing with her friends, or, just some ponies she hanged around with when she was bored. Which were Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, and Apple Bloom. Derpy was looking around, trying to see her muffin mix again. She had this love for muffins that everypony knows. Dinky was playing tag with her friends, and looked at her mother, who was inside the house. She gave a stare at her face. Her mother looked back at her, smiling and mistakenly putting salt into the muffin dough. Dinky laughed and went back to play with her friends. But then again, she stopped in her tracks and looked at her mom. Why was she different than her? How did she get cross-eyes and herself not?Dinky felt so different from her mother, but not her father, Doctor Hooves. Docotr Hooves was a normal pony. The only difference that made him unusual was about his time travels LOL DOCTOR WHO REFERENCE XDand other unknown gadgets he'd created. But that wasn't the question she wanted to ask. She knew that Derpy, her mom had done something to Dinky that made her a normal pony. Dinky couldn't help but think.
"Was mother hiding something from me? A past secret?" Dinky mumbled to herself.
She stopped thinking about it after she felt a hoof slightly push her. She turned around to see that a white mare with a light pink & purple mane pushed that hoof on her slightly saying:
"Hehehe! Tag! Your it now!! Try and catch me if yo-"Sweetie Belle wasn't able to finish speaking after she heard Dinky reply to her quickly before the other two fillys started running again, saying:
"Oh um, that's nice Sweetie Belle. But i'm afraid we're going to have to play tag some other time. Right now i have to go. I think my mom is calling me for dinner."Dinky said, trying to retreat back home so she can ask her mom the question she was dying to know.
"But it's only 12:30."said the purple and orange mare, Scootaloo, a little suspiciously.
"Oh! Hehehe! Silly me! Well, then she's calling me for lunch!" Dinky said, nervously.
A silence fell between the three fillys and Dinky. For a split second, Scootaloo looked as if Dinky was lying to her suspiciously, about to say something, but she couldn't put the words together. In fact, she pretty much forgot what she was going to say on purpose. Then Apple Bloom grew tired of the silence and finally broke the winds noise.
"Oh, well, it's okay. Maybe next time you and us meet we'll be trying to help you earn your cutie mark!"Apple Bloom smiled, and her other two friends nodded. Dinky smiled happily as the other three filly's trotted away, looking for stuff to do.
After they left, Dinky frowned. She went inside and was greeted by Derpy. Dinky just ignored and ate a muffin, and walked up to her room. The rest of the day Dinky just either sat on her bed or stared at the wall. Derpy got worried and went in the room at night, surprised to still find the filly awake. Derpy walked into Dinky's room to her bed, looking at Dinky, who was just staring at the wall, probably thinking still. Dinky glanced at her mother, and her worried expression, then just stared at the wall again. Derpy got worried even more and asked Dinky something.
"Is something wrong my little muffin?" Derpy said, and sat down next to Dinky. Dinky refused to tell her and turned around in her blanket, facing another wall. Derpy still sat down looking at her. Dinky finally told her.
"How come your different than me?" Dinky asked. Derpy was speechless. She had no words. Derpy walked out of the room, for a while, and while she was still gone, Dinky turned back around and thought.
"Mom? Is this too much to ask? Really? I knew you were hiding a secret from me, i knew that you wouldn't tell me. Oh, why did i even bother asking?" Dinky thought.
Derpy finally came back, and told her.
"When you were born, you had cross-eyes. I was shocked and surprised that you would end up like me, i thought your eyes would be more like your dad's. So, i decided to tried and get the doctors to put your eyes back to normal. They successfully finished and i took you from the hospital. And we brought you home." Derpy said. Dinky was shocked.
"But, why did you want normal eyes for me? I just don't understand."
"Well, i didn't want you to be teased by all the other fillys, so i did that for you."Derpy said.
She hugged Dinky and Dinky smiled. Derpy felt so lucky to have a special, fun little daughter in her life.
