Prologue: The Spell

"You look exhausted, Twi." Spike said, worrying. "The princess said it was due whenever you felt, and that it would most likely take many years to finish the spell." He sighed. "Then again, you always got your projects as a filly in before the due date, and you are the Element of Magic..."

Twilight smiled triumphantly, reaching her eyes through all the bags under them. "And each and every time..." She yawned. "I got an A. Don't worry so much Spike."

He sighed. "Okay, Twilight. Don't stay up all night." He walked upstairs to his room.

The Princess of Friendship rubbed her eyes as she examined what she had written on her paper. She was so close... Yet she couldn't get the last part quite right. She spoke the spell under her breath as her horn lit, and only succeeded in making Owlicious appear next to her with a startled, "Who?"

She sighed. She started muttering to herself. "Ugh... This should be so easy..."

"Through curtains of time

And doorways of space,

Let me leave this world

Without a trace.

The stars align in the

Heaven's above,

Let dimensions slip

Like a glove!"

She was so worried that she added even more lyrics, snarkily.

"A Pegasus with

No control of their self,

A Unicorn concerned with

Dresses and wealth,

Zebras skilled

With potions and luck,

And two more Unicorns,

Hey, what the buck?"

She growled and tossed the paper into the air. Twilight imagined who she was discussing with those words. Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Zecora(And how she wished another zebra was in Equestria for study), and then herself and her brother. She was in a bad mood, as she was when she was tired.

She was so frustrated that the lavender mare nearly missed the sound of magic being cast. She flipped around, watching in pure and utter shock as a black hole sucked her precious spell and books through the portal. "No! The spell!"

Twilight held on to her castle walls as she tried to rescue the spell with levitation, yet it was no use. It was sucked in, and with a resounding pop! the black hole closed. She stared at the space it just was before trotting, disappointed, up to her bedroom, missing as the portal started to open up once more.
