Chapter 1

I am Anon. Horsefucker extraordinaire. Private detective in a town that hardly ever needs me, but I have no other way of earning money in this town, and ponies will pay a fortune for me to do off the books illegal work.

"I know you don't, but this isn't even illegal. Besides changing and creating some documents, which I, as a princess, have the ability and legal right to do, it's completely harmless."

I contemplated this for a bit, rubbing my chin in thought.

"Alright, fine. What's the 'sitch?"

"I need you to investigate the Cutie Mark Crusaders."

"Ok... Why?"

"I'm not convinced."

"Convinced about what?"

"Their cutie marks! This is the first time in recorded history that three fillies that are not blood related, to receive almost identical cutie marks! It makes no sense!"

"So you want me to follow them? Question them?"

"Well... I've been researching a spell that I've been wanting to try, so..."

"Hold it. What spell is this."

"It's a transformation spell. Basically, it can turn a being of one species into that of another and will let me chose the age of that being when I cast it."

"Then why not cast an aging spell on yourself?"

"Because the spell is semi-permanent. If I age myself down, my magic reserves will not be enough to bring me back."

"I see... So you want me to infiltrate the school as a pony and try to figure out what the Cute Mark Crusaders are up to?"

She nodded.

"Precisely."

I thought for a few seconds.

"Okay, I accept. I hope you don't mind me charging a little more than usual, seeing as this is a very risky mission."

"Absolutely."

I stood in the center of the room as Twank Bank charged up her horn. A beam of purple magic shot forth and struck me in the chest, immediately triggering changes. I felt myself began to shrink and my bones shift to different positions. Besides the growth of fur and the loss of feeling in my fingers and dick, not much else changed.

Before I could protest, she shot me with another beam of magic and we both appeared outside the school. I tried to insult her, but she teleported away again, leaving me gawking at nothing. I glanced at my body, taking in the changes that the Purple Pony Princess had made to me. I had a forest green coat and a black mane, just like my normal hair. I scoffed at what had happened and made my way to the classroom. The faster I got through this, the better.

The school bell rang and I made my way to an open seat at the back of the class. It dawned on me that Twibright had assumed that I knew what the CMC looked like, which, in fact, I did not. I looked at the door of the classroom as it began to fill with young ponies of all colours and types. Eventually, three ponies walked in with the same cutie mark on their flank, just as the purple idiot had described.

Unfortunately for me, they decided to sit at the front of the class, while I had chosen to sit at the back. My old habits deceive me once more. Class was boring, but it was over sooner than I thought, and recess began.

Out in the school yard, I saw that the three ponies I was after were sitting together at a table and were eating their food quietly. I approached them, not concerned about acting like a little kid. After all, I used to be part of a special task force of very young looking cops who infiltrated high schools.

"How do you do, fellow kids?"

They stared at me.

"What?" The white one looked at her friends and shrugged.

"I was told that you three were helping young ponies find their cutie mark, and as you can see, I don't have any branding yet."

"Branding? I uh... Have no idea what ya mean by "branding", but if yer talkin' about yer cutie mark, Ah think we can help ya!" The yellow one said.

"Ah'm Applebloom," She pointed to herself."This is Sweetiebelle," She pointed to the white one that talked before. "And this is Scootaloo!" She pointed to the last filly who waved excitedly.

"We'd be happy to help you find your cutie mark!"

"Well, I'm more interested in how you got yours. Why don't you tell me?"

I hated to admit it, but the story checked out. Admittedly, I didn't know exactly how cutie marks worked, but from what I had gathered from living here for a while, their story was no more unbelievable than the rest.

"So, what do you think you're good at?"

Again, the yellow one named Applebloom stared at me.

The end of school finally came and I walked outside to see Scootaloo waiting with two scooters nearby.

The other three looked at me.

"Glass, are you sure?"

Scootaloo nodded.

"Okay then, Strawberry Blossom! We accept!"

"I could have sworn that they were here a few hours ago! I was looking for them to show to my friend, Silver Spoon, when I realized that they were gone!"

I looked around her room with the CMC, observing the surroundings and checking for clues.

"So did you tell anyone where they were? Did anyone see you take them out at any point?"

"I don't think so... Only my family, but they've known I had it for years."

Hmm, It wasn't likely that it was her family. Maybe it was Silver Spoon, the friend that she was going to show her collection to. It did make sense for her to fake asking to see it, that would eliminate suspicion.

"Hey, is there a magnifying glass around here somewhere?"

Strawberry rushed off and was back a few seconds later with a small magnifying glass.

She was just always bragging about how great her collection was, and she's not even a fan!” She pleaded to me. “I've been trying to collect for years, but she just got lucky and found all those rare cards! I was gonna give it back today anyway. I really am sorry, Straw. Will you ever forgive me?"

"Snow, I... I forgive you."

"Thanks, Straw. Let's go to class and I'll give you back the cards. I'm sorry again."

The two friends hugged and walked off to class together.

"Looks like a happy ending!"

"Yep!" I smiled before a flash of blinding white light emitted from behind me. I turned around to see what it was only to see three filly's staring at me with huge grins on their faces.

"WE DID IT, WE DID IT! CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS, YAAAY!"

The three shouted in unison.

The two griffons grabbed Spike by the legs and unceremoniously dragged him out the window with them.

I stood there, silent and unmoving. Well, not exactly. My legs were shaking. I was absolutely terrified, and it had taken me that long to realize what I had been feeling.

What the hell? I had never been scared by something before! Well, sorry, that's a lie. Nothing in Equestria. I collapsed to the floor and began to cry. Why? Why was I acting like this? I'd never acted like this before! Bet it's this fucking stupid body.

"S-s-stupid body. S-stupid Twilight!"

"What did I do wrong?"

I spun around.

"Twilight!"

I ran to her and threw my hooves around her. She froze up.

"G-Glass? What's wrong?"

"Th-these g-g-griffons came in and th-they..."

My mind relived the last few moments.

"What did they do, Glass."

"They took Spike!"

"What!?"

She pushed me away and ran into the other room. She swung back to face me, her face filled with rage.

"WHY DIDN'T YOU STOP THEM, ANON!?"

"I-I-I..."

Tears welled up in my eyes.

"Oh no." Her face relaxed and switched to a look of guilt. She walked up to me, but I backed away. I was feeling it again. Fear. Why?

"I'm sorry, Glass, I didn’t mean to shout, this... This isn't your fault."

She approached me again and pulled me into a hug which I accepted.

"We'll... We'll figure this out."

I let my tears flow for the first time in my life. I'd never let myself cry. I always kept this masculine appearance, but I didn't even have a choice this time.

"I just don't get it. Who would want Spike?"

I pulled away from the hug and wiped the tears from my face. I thought about it for a second. Who would want Spike? And who would want to kidnap the number one assistant of the fucking princess? Unless…

He was a dragon. How many other dragons had I seen while in Equestria? None. Let alone a baby dragon. He was rare, and probably expensive.

"Twilight... I think I know why they took Spike."

"You do?"

"Do you know anything about rare animal trading in Equestria?"

"Well, I know it's not common at all, but it does happen some time. What does that have to do with... Oh no. No no no!" She cringed with the realization of what had happened.

"What are we gonna do?"

"Uh... We... Uh... Glass! I think I might need to hire you one more time."

There has to be something around here. Something that they left behind… There! A small sheet of paper. Well, more like a scrap. I pulled up the magnifying glass that Twilight had lent me.

Yes! Looks like that Griffon had "Fucked up" again! It was a matchbook for a bar. I flicked it open, but there was nothing inside but matches. No matter, I had a lead now.

"Twilight, check this out!"

She walked over to me and took the matchbox with her magic.

"Unless Spike has been going through a rebellious smoking phase, then this was left behind by those griffons."

"So what now?"

"Well, we need to check out the bar. Do you recognize the name?"

"The... Spit Jar? I can't really say that I do..."

The Spit Jar… I hadn't heard the name before, but It definitely wasn't in Ponyville. There wasn't exactly google in this world, so I couldn't google where it was. Maybe…

"Twilight, is there a phonebook for any of the nearby cities?"

I got arrested last time I was here while on a job It was a city filled with dirty streets and dirty ponies No idea why anyone would want to live here.

"Okay, Glass! I've got our itinerary planned out to the minute! At 1200, we will check into the Solid Stone Inn, at 1215, we'll have lunch! At 1300, we have-"

"Twilight! You don't need to plan every second of our day!"

"Maybe not, but one day, you'll have needed a list and regret not making it!"

"Sure. Got any place on that list for investigating?"

"Of course I do! But, uh... There's something we have to talk about."

"What?"

"The place we're following this lead at is a bar, right?"

"Yeah?"

"You're underage."

Inside the Spit Jar Bar…

Be Twilight Sparkle No, not “Twippy Dippy Spackle”, or whatever silly name Green Glass had thought up for me today. We had gotten to the not so glorious city of Baltimare earlier today and after a short amount of sightseeing, we made our way to the Spit Jar, our one lead to finding Spike. Notice I said “we”.

Normally, I wouldn’t have dreamt of bringing such a young filly with me to such a filthy place, but not only had she insisted, but she apparently had a history with the city. Something about a missing pony and snow skis. Celestia knows what that was about, but she refused to divulge any further information.

I approached the bar and ordered a large pint of Saltlick Lager. I usually never touched the stuff, but if I was going to blend in at all in the hovel, I had to play the part. The bartender gave me a curious look and brought me my drink. I sipped the drink, fighting off cringing from it’s salty/bitter taste. Drivel. Calling it a “drink” was being generous. I’m a princess, I shouldn’t be drinking this.

No, do it for Spike. He needs you.

Glass had given me a basic rundown of how this was going to go down, what lingo to use, how to react, etc. on our way here. I was still nervous, but I knew I had to do it. Not only because Glass couldn’t do it for me, but because Spike needed us. I finished off my drink and asked for another. As the bartender approached, I set our plan into motion.

“Hey, barkeep.”

”What’ll it be, miss?”

“I’ve been looking for something a little more… Exotic recently.”

”Oh?” He raised an eyebrow suspiciously.

“Yes, something with a little more… Bite to it. A little more lively, if you know what I mean.”

”I’m not sure if I do, miss.”

“I’m in the market for… A new pet.”

The barkeep glanced around before leaning closer to me.

”You sure you know what you’re asking for?”

“Oh, I’m more than sure, good sir. Much more than sure.”

”Fine.”

He looked under the bar before lifting up a flagon made out of a bull horn. How horrible! Did they even ask the bull’s permission? I doubted it!

I kept a straight face and took the flagon of ale before thanking the barkeep. I downed the disgusting fluids before turning the cup upside down and taking the piece of paper taped to the bottom. Bingo. Thank god Anon- er, Glass knew her way around shady businesses. Nothing against her, of course. Looks like her suspicions were correct.

Finally, I saw Twilight leave the bar. She pulled down her hood and smiled at me.

”I did it, Glass! That was so exciting! Is this how exciting it is every time you do this?” She clopped her hooves together and smiled. A few passing ponies glanced at her before shaking their heads and averting their eyes.

“So I was right?” I asked

”You sure were!”

She reached inside her cloak and pulled out a sheet of paper.

”Left on the bottom of the mug, just like you said. How did you know this information so specifically?”

“I worked a case similar to this but with a thestral kid a while back. Honestly, it’s probably the same organization just in a different city.”

”Wait, did you manage to apprehend the perpetrator?”

“Look, I was paid to bring the kid back and I did. Do you have any idea how dangerous my job is? I can’t be sticking my neck out every three seconds to do “what’s right”.”

”B-but we have to do something!”

“Maybe this time, it’ll be different. I mean, what with you being the princess of friendship and all.”

”But what about all the other evil organizations? What about the kids that you didn’t save?”

“If I could, I would have saved all of the kids I found there, but think about it for a second, Princess Smartypants. If I get reckless, stick my hand too far into the hornet's nest, I’ll get stung. Who will do my job when I’m gone, huh? If you haven’t noticed, the royal guard is lazy. They protect against direct attacks and do basic investigation, but they hardly ever seek out cases very far.”

”I… I hadn’t thought about it.”

“Don’t worry about it. I… I do feel guilty, you know.”

”What? What for?”

“What do you think? I feel guilty for not doing more. I know that If i tried, I /could/ take down a huge group of bad ponies and creatures. What do you think happens if I do that? My face all over news headlines. “Freaky human brings down foalnapping ring”. I mean, as is, I’m not very discreet, you know, being the only human here, but a lot of ponies mistake me for a minotaur. If I don’t have that, I have nothing. I’m done.”

”Wow, Glass. I really shouldn’t… I shouldn’t have been so harsh on you.”

“Don’t think about it, Princess.”

I finally got to unfolding the piece of paper and reading what had been written on it. Perfect.

“2AM, Behind the building.” I read aloud.

”That’s where we’re going to meet the bartender?”

“Probably not the bartender. He’s just the messenger.”

”Alright. While we’re waiting, I’ve always wanted to check out that restaurant in 5th street, Applejack has been going on about it ever since she visited her cousin here last.”

I rolled my eyes but went along with it. Best to keep the purple princess happy.

There was a brisk wind blowing and I pulled my coat closer to my body. Luckily the fur on my pony body was a lot more resistant to the cold than bare skin, but it didn’t seem to matter that much. There was a bright orange glow next to me and I saw Twilight casting a spell.

“What’re you doin- Oh.”

I felt my the air around me warm up with the glow and the wind slow down quite a bit.

“Uh, Th-thanks, Twilight.”

She smiled at me.

”No problem Glass. It’s the least I could do.”

We walked toward the back alley and I felt a chill run up my spine, despite Twilight’s spell warming me. It was that feeling again, the fear that I was so unfamiliar with and hated so much. It was this stupid bodies fault. I never felt fear like this before.

Out from behind a dumpster, a pony wearing a large coat and smoking a cigarette stepped out. He lifted the cigarette out of his mouth with magic and threw it to the ground, still lit.

”Evening, miss.”

”Good evening, sir.”

”You were at the Spit Jar earlier today, correct? You asked the bartender about my services?”

Twilight nodded, her hood still concealing her body. He motioned toward me with a nod.

”Who’s this? I thought you were buying, not selling.”

”Oh, no, she’s my companion.”

”Like them young, huh?”

I could see Twilight’s face fill with disgust, but she kept her cool demeanor.

”Let’s get to business, Mr…?”

”I don’t tell anyone my name, Lady. Neither should you.”

”Glad we’re on the same page, Sir. I’m in the market for a dragon.”

He looked shocked for a second, before relaxing and straightening his tie.

”Miss, I hope you know what you’re asking for. Why in the world would you risk buying a dragon? Do the words “death sentence” mean nothing to you?”

”I didn’t come here to get a lecture, sir, I came here to purchase a dragon. If you must know, I’m a scientist. I’m experimenting on the science behind genetic manipulation for the purpose of domestication of sentient creatures, and the only kind of sentient creature I haven’t attempted my theory on yet is a young dragon.”

Damn, Twi. She was really good at this. If she wasn’t such a noticeable figure, she could probably help me in the future.

”Fine, fine. We just happened to acquire a young dragon a few nights ago, so I can have him ready for a transfer by tomorrow night. Bring forty thousand bits with you and I shouldn’t have to tell you this, but be discrete. We’ll meet under the west side of the Clop Key Bridge at 2AM. Your “Companion” can come too, just make sure she doesn’t cause any trouble.”

”Sounds good to me, sir. I’ll see you then.”

We turned away and walked from the alley. We traveled down the street in silence before all of a sudden, Twilight broke away to rush behind a nearby trashcan. I heard retching and a quiet splash. I stood behind her and held her mane back with my forehooves.

“Let it out, Twi. You did good.”

”I-I can’t b-b-believe this, G-glass… I c-can’t… Oh goddess…”

She turned away and retched once more.

”That… Sick stallion! H-he didn’t have an ounce of c-compassion in his eyes!”

“He’ll get his just desserts, Twi.”

”We can’t let him go, Glass. We can’t.”

“Remember what I said, Twi. We have to be careful. The information we’ve gotten today will serve to help the royal guard crack down on these ponies and bring them to justice.”

”Are you saying we do NOTHING!?”

She pushed me away.

“Twi, calm down.”

”I WILL NOT CALM DOWN UNTIL THOSE… THOSE MONSTERS ARE STOPPED!”

“Twilight, shut the buck up!”

She stared in stunned silence.

“What happens if you try and stop them, huh? They will take Spike away and you will never see him again! That’s what will happen.”

She said nothing.

“Twi, I… I made a mistake once.”

”What are you talking about?”

“I’m not always as successful as you might think. I’m not perfect, and I made a mistake. A bad one.”

”What… What happened?”

“Once, there was a family dog that had been stolen. I was requested to investigate where it had been taken to and bring it back. I eventually discovered that a couple of young colts had stolen it and were planning on hurting it. When I interrogated one of the colts, they caved and told me of an abandoned apartment where they were planning on… Pouring acid on it. I was so… Utterly /filled/ with disgust and anger, that I rushed into the apartment. They heard me coming in and… They threw the dog out of the window.”

”Oh my goddess.”

“Yeah. I couldn’t sleep for weeks knowing what I had caused. If anything like that happened to Spike… I don’t know if I could live with myself.”

”Ano- Glass, I’m so sorry.”

“You don’t need to be, Twi. I’m angry too. I’m fucking fuming. Spike is my friend too. But we have to think ahead. Think of the consequences. First, we need to make sure that Spike is safe and in our hooves.”

”R-right.”

“You can do this, Twilight. For Spike, and for all of the other creatures these monsters have stolen.”

The next night, we made our way to the waterfront in silence. Once there, we surveyed the scene from afar. A lone streetlight illuminated the area, but no ponies were there waiting for us. They must be waiting in the shadows, just as the other stallion had last night.

”Alright, Glass.”

“You ready for this, Twinkie?”

”Please, Glass, no jokes tonight.”

“You gotta lighten up a little, or these ponies will suspect something. Not to mention our horrible excuse for fake bits.”

We had purchased a large amount of bottle caps and loaded them into a saddlebag. If the night went as planned, we would teleport away as soon as we had Spike and leave the stallions with their fake bits. If the night went as planned.

No time to make a contingency. Go with the flow. Don’t act unnatural. Be calm and alert.
It had never failed me before. We walked down toward the bridge’s belly and stepped into the light of the street lamp. We stood in silence for a few moments before a nearby shipping container opened up and three creatures stepped out, two ponies and a griffon.

Oh no.

The griffon who had taken Spike.

I pulled my hood over my head and tried to keep my features hidden from the griffon as much as possible. Behind them, another pony carried a small cage in his magic with a small purple dragon hog tied inside. He was both gagged, blindfolded, and seemingly unconscious.

Those fucking bastards. They better not have hurt Spike. The ponies and griffon silently approached and the pony who looked the most in charge motioned for the carrier to place down the cage.

”I take it that this is what you’re looking for, Mademoiselle?”

Twilight took a step forward, almost ready to run to Spike, but calmed herself.

”You are correct. We have the bits here, all in order.”

”Perfect, perfect. Now, levitate the bits over to me and then we shall send the merchandise to you.”

Twilight lifted up the saddle bag, but as she did, the griffon whispered something in the stallions ear.

”Stop.” He held up a hoof and Twilight halted her magic’s progress.

”Some information has come to light, so I would like for this exchange to go a little differently. You will send the bits over, we will count them ourselves, and /then/, you will be able to take your merchandise.”

”What?” Twilight spoke up. “That’s absurd!”

”If you would ever like to receive the merchandise, this is how it will go. No exceptions. No excuses.”

Fuck, fuck, fuck. They were going to see the fake bits! Think, Glass, think!

Twilight began to levitate the “bits” over to the criminals. What the hell was she doing! She knew that those bits were fake, they would immediately call us out on it! Oh fuck, you better have a good plan, Twilight.

The bag arrived.

The stallion opened up the clasp and…

Started counting bits.

Not bottle caps, bits.

Real bits.

“Twilight? What’s going on.”

”Shut up, Glass. Don’t say a word.”

I did what she said and stood silently. I was filled with anxiety at what was going on.
The plan had fallen apart, yet… Twilight had pulled this out of her ass and it was working.

”Ah, looks like we have a sale, Mademoiselle!”

He clopped his hooves twice and the unicorn began levitating the cage over to us. As it landed, Twilight pried the bars open with her magic and pulled Spike out. She removed his blindfold and gag.

”Oh goddess, Spike!”

The stallion looked over at us quizzically.

”You… Know this dragon? What is the meaning of this!”

Twilight looked up at them with fire in her eyes. Not figuratively either. Literal fire.

”You will burn for what you have done to my brother.”

Suddenly, the bits in the hands of the stallion turned to bottlecaps. A flash of purple, and we were back at the hotel room.

Immediately, Twilight levitated Spike over to the bed and began inspecting him for any injuries.
From what it looked like, the only real injury he had was a bruise on his head from where he had been knocked out a few days ago and rope burn from being tied up.

”Oh goddesses, Spike!”

She collapsed onto him, sobbing loudly. Her cries were loud and long. The love she had for her brother poured out and filled me with sadness. My eyes began to tear up as well and I hugged Twilight. She looked at me with her face messy with tears.

”Thank you so much, Glass!”

She hugged me back and I cried into her shoulder. I really, truly cried. This emotion, relief, sadness, joy, and the built up stress from all of this fear. I was finally letting it out. All of it. I cried for my family. I cried for my lost life. I cried for the dog that I had failed to save.
I just cried.

It felt so good to finally cry.

Chapter 3

A particularly heavy bump of the train carriage woke me up from my sleep I looked around the booth, eyes still heavy from my rest. Twilight was sitting on the opposite side of the booth to me, cradling a sleeping purple dragon in her hooves. She looked at me and smiled, seeing that I had woken.

“Hey, Glass. You sleep well?”

“As well as I can while this train is bumping around.” I yawned. “How’s Spike?”

“Hadn't woken since we got on the train.”

Fair enough. He'd gone through some pretty horrible shit, something that a pony, human, dragon, anything should never have to go through. I can only imagine how horrible the fear of never seeing your friends or family again would be like. I hadn't really had any friends back on earth, but now… that was different. I had friends, and with that, I had the possibility of losing them.

I had made an unwritten promise a while ago to not let myself get attached to ponies. Who knows if two seconds after becoming friends with somepony, I have to betray them for a client? It was easier to just avoid friends all together. But I had friends. I had a friend in Twilight, Spike, hell, even Scootaloo and the cutie mark crusaders had kept hanging out with me. I thought about my situation and my mind started to wander.

Why not just roll with it? I had friends, I had family. This body was permanent unless Twilight miraculously found a “cure” for being a tiny pony. I found myself smiling at the thought. Why the fuck not? I had been given this chance to start a new. A new lease on life.

“It's nice to see you smiling instead of scowling, you know.”

I jumped and looked at Twilight, my train of thought derailed. I blushed a bit and looked away. I felt like forcing myself to scowl just to prove her wrong, but what was the point?

I felt happy.

So I smiled.

There wasn't anything wrong with that.

A week had passed now since we got home, and Spike was slowly adjusting to being back. He seemed to flinch at the slightest sound and whimpered every time a door slammed shut. I tried to accommodate the poor guy, but he had clearly gone through something horrid when he was in captivity.

Word had come yesterday in the form of a letter from princess Celestia that due to the information Twilight and I had provided the city guard, they had managed to shut down that particular animal trading ring as well as a pony slavery ring connected to it.

Twilight was ecstatic that she and I had managed to make a difference, but it didn't seem to enthuse Spike that much, and honestly, I was too worried about him to celebrate with Twilight. Over the next couple of days, I didn't notice Spikes mood change much, if at all.

He would sit and silently read his comic books, not going outside, not smiling, not even coming out of his room when Rarity and the others came to a visit. I could tell something was majorly wrong when even seeing Rarity didn't make him smile even a little.

I raised my hoof up and knocked twice on the door. I waited for a reply, but when I didn't hear any, I slowly pushed the door to the room open. Spike was sitting down in his usual spot, quietly reading.

“Hey, Spike.”

He hardly acknowledged me besides glancing at me before going back to his book.

“Look, I know you might think I'm some sort of heartless freak, or something, but I do care about you. I really do.”

“Why didn't you stop them?”

I froze.

“What? What do you mean.”

Spike spoke without taking his face away from the book.

“Why didn't you stop them from taking me?”

“S-spike, I-”

“Is it because you'd rather see me gone?”

“What!? Of course not! You’re one of my only… Friends.”

“Then tell me, Glass.”

“I… I'm weak, Spike.”

He looked up and raised an eyebrow.

“For the first time in my whole life. I was weak and I was scared. I used to be so sure of myself. So sure that I could take on the world in this universe full of cutesy animals and ponies. But when I saw them taking you, I… I was scared. I was so bucking scared that I just… froze.”

Spike looked at me silently, his face betraying no emotion.

“I'm sorry, Spike… I didn't want to let them take you. You're… One of my best and only friends.”

He sat just as still as before.

“I'm… Nevermind. I'll talk to you later.”

I turned and walked out of the room, slowly pulling the door shut behind me as I left. Just as the door clicked shut, I heard muffled sobs coming from the room behind me.

Spike was slowly getting better now, and had actually stepped outside a couple of times. I tried to spend time around him when I could, and it was clear that he enjoyed spending time around me. I read with him a few times, and he genuinely wanted me around, even if it was just to read, or talk about his favourite Power Pony. This morning, Twilight invited her friends over for a picnic in the castle grounds and I managed to convince Spike to come along.

It was a fairly pleasant day, not too hot, not too cold. The leaves had began to turn orange, offering a nice colorful landscape. Twilight and a few of the others had gathered outside, but Spike was nowhere to be seen. I checked his room and the library, but didn't find him until I decided to check the balcony overlooking the picnic.

I slowly opened the door, the squeaking causing Spike to turn around.

“Hey, Spike. You okay?”

He turned around again.

“You know, Twilight has been really looking forward to this picnic. Rarity even asked where her little “Spikey Wikey” was.”

“I don't care.”

“Not even for Rarity?”

“No. I don't care about Rarity anymore. She'll never think of me as anything more than a pet. Just like those evil ponies wanted me to be.”

He stared out over the balcony as I stood awkwardly behind him. I walked forward and leaned up against the balustrade with Spike. I let out a sigh and breathed in the scent of autumn leaves.

“You really are one of my only friends, Spike.”

…

“Do you know what they did to me, Glass?”

“I…”

“They pretended to be guards and said they would get me back. They made me tell them about you and Twilight and then, they said I would never see you again. They said to me, “You’ll live the rest of your life in a cage. You’ll do what you’re told, or your master will beat you. You are a pet from now on”.”

“Spike…”

“You wanna know something weird? Besides Twilight… the one pony who I was the most worried I would never see again was… you.”

“What..?”

“I know it's weird, but in that moment, I thought about all my friends. All of the ponies I knew, and wished I could just say goodbye to you.”

I threw my hooves around him and hugged him tight. He stood, stunned for a while before slowly hugging me back. I began to cry and sob, letting out all of my bottled up worries and sadness out.

“G-glass? Are you okay?”

“I was so scared, Spike!”

“Scared? About me?”

“Yes, you pea brain! I'm a big bucking idiot and I let one of my best friends get taken! I hardly slept because I know what they do. I know what those evil ponies do to animals and I knew it would happen to you if I didn't do something! My whole bucking life I've shut people out, pretended to be stoic and hard, but I don't want that anymore!”

“Glass…”

“I thought I'd never see you again.”

Spike pulled away from the hug and looked at me. I tried to wipe the tears from my eyes, but they were replaced by more as soon as they were gone.

“Glass, I'm so sorry. I didn't know that you were… that you even considered me a friend.”

“What, did you think I was joking? Of course I do, dummy. You're… more important to me than anypony else.”

“I…”

“Just shut up, Spike.”

I leant forward and kissed him.

He stood still as I pressed my mouth into his surprisingly soft but still scaly lips. He eventually began to relax and return the kiss, letting out the air that he had kept inside breath out. His breath was warm and smelt vaguely of burning wood, but I hardly noticed as I focused on nothing but the kiss.

Why was I doing this?

More importantly, why was I liking it so much?

And why did Spike not push me away?

He began to push back into the kiss, leaning me backward slightly and putting a hand behind my head. My heart began to race faster and faster, his claws now gripping my mane lightly and his breath becoming less of a weird smell and more of a comforting smell. He let his mouth open and his tongue began to intrude my mouth, prodding around and wrapping around my own tongue.

This was so wrong! Spike was not only a Dragon and a kid, but a dude too! I just didn’t seem to care. My brain wanted this, and who was I to argue anymore?

I wasn’t Anon, the human. I was Green Glass, the mare.

I let my old self go, and embraced the new.

I was a pony mare, and right now, I was kissing Spike, my best friend. Eventually, Spike pulled away from the kiss and stared me in the eyes, half lidded.

“Glass… I’m sorry, I…”

I laughed.

“What are you sorry about?”

“Um…”

He looked down before clenching his eyes shut. I glanced down only to see his dick, now fully erect. I felt a weird sensation of butterflies in my belly as I stared at it. I had seen it before, when he walked in on me after my first heat, but it wasn’t fully out. Not like this.

I giggled at the thought. He was turned on by me. Not anypony else. Me.

“Don’t laugh at it…”

Epilogue

It wasn’t a complete lie though, as Twilight had helped me learn how to control my magic over the past year as well. I had a grasp on basic levitation and a few simple spells. It was honestly super damn cool to be able to do all of this magic stuff, things I’d never thought I’d ever be able to do.

I enjoyed helping Twilight with her studies and experiments as well, not only because it gave me a strange sense of accomplishment, but it also meant I got to spend more time around Spike, and we would quickly sneak a kiss whenever Twilight was out of the room.

All in all, I was happy. I had friends, family, a partner, and a home. Something that I had never had before.

“Twilight?” I called out. “What’s going on?”

“Hold still!” She shouted out from what sounded like across the room before I felt a magical beam slam directly into my chest.

I began to panic as I felt my chest expanding, my legs growing, and something oddly familiar appear between my legs. I tried to shout out and move, but the spell was holding my muscles completely still. I felt my hooves stretch out and the sensation of touch return to the tips. I began to struggle as I finally realised what was happening to me.

She was turning me back into a human.

I tried my hardest to release myself from her magical grip but it did me no good as I felt the changes complete themselves and my blindfold fall off my face as the magic hold was released. I fell to my knees and looked down at my body.

I had fingers again. I had toes again. I glanced down between my legs, and there it was. My body was back.

No.

This wasn’t my body.

Tears began to rim my eyes as I realized exactly what had happened. Twilight had found a way to turn me back, but I didn’t want to turn back.

“G-glass…?” I heard a voice speak out nervously from behind me. I spun around and saw Spike, my amazing boyfriend, staring at me from behind a slightly open door, with a look of horror and betrayal in his eyes. I tried to call out to him, but he rushed off and I heard sobs coming from down the hall.

“A success! I hope you like having your old body back, Anon! It’s the least I could do for you after you helped me save Spike last year. Now you’ll be able to move back to your old house and start working again!”

“Twilight, you-”

“No need to thank me, Anon! I was looking in the completely wrong place for a transformation spell all this time! Looks like all I had to do was-”

“Yes you are. You said it yourself, Glass.” Her blank expression broke and a smile began to peak out. “You’re not Anon.”

“What are you talking about?”

“You know, I honestly never liked Anon anyway.”

A beam of light shot out and hit me in the chest once more. I felt my body tense up and be lifted into the air again. My limbs shrunk down and became dotted with fur once more. I looked around at my flank as my familiar cutie mark returned. My fingers and toes changed to hooves once more and my horn spiraled forward from my head.

The changes were done, and I looked down at myself once more.

My real self.

I rushed toward Twilight once more and threw my hooves around her, sobbing heavily into her withers.

“Th-th-thank y-you! Thank y-you so m-much, Twilight!”

She shushed me and brushed my mane with a hoof.

“No, Glass, you shouldn’t be thanking me. I… I tried to take your happiness away from you. I didn’t realize what I was doing.”

I continued to cry into her shoulder before eventually calming down a bit.

“Glass…” Twilight smiled at me. “I know you might think I think of you as creepy or something for falling in love with my brother, but… You really do seem like a different pony. Er, person. Whatever, but if Spike feels the same way about you that you feel about him, then who am I to take that from you?”

I smiled through the tears and wiped them from my face. Twilight smiled at me kindly and levitated a tissue over to me and dried what tears remained.

Suddenly, I remembered what had happened. Oh no! Spike had seen me as a human!

“T-twilight, I have to go! I have to find Spike!”

“What? What do you mean?”

“He saw me! When you turned me back into a human!”

She smiled at me and released me from the hug.

“Go get him, Glass.”

I nodded and ran toward the door. As I left, I heard Twilight call out from behind me.

“If you hurt him, I’ll banish you to the moon!”

As I approached Spike’s room, I could hear quiet sobs coming from behind the door. As I knocked on it, the sobs stopped and I heard nothing.

“Spike?” I called out, hoping that my voice would comfort him.

“G-Glass? Is that you?”

I opened the door and found an extremely teary eyed Spike looking up from his bed, which was stained with tears.

“G-Glass!” He ran toward me and hugged me, crying in relief as he did.

“It’s me, Spike. I’m so sorry.”

“Wh-why?” Spiked sniffled out. “Why did you go back to being Anon? Was I not good enough for you?”

“Hey, she changed me back as a “surprise”, thinking it’s what I wanted.”

“So… You didn’t want to change back?”

“No! I have a new life now, and I am happy. I would never go back, especially without at least talking to you about it first.” I smiled warmly and placed a hoof on his cheek.

“Spike, I regret nothing about the decision I made. I decided to stay like this on my own, and it’s the best decision I’ve made.”

Spike lent forward and kissed me quickly. I could taste the tears that had dripped down onto his lips, but I didn’t care. I was happy like this. As he pulled away, he looked me up and down.

“So, wait, Twilight changed you back?”

“Well, yeah… I kinda freaked out and told her that we were in love…”

“You what!?” Spike gawked.

“Hey, hey! Calm down! She doesn’t disprove of it, okay? The whole time I was a human again, I was thinking of you. I was so angry at Twilight for possibly driving us apart that I just blurted it out.”

“Yes. Although, she did say she’d banish me to the moon if I ever hurt you, but I promise you that I never will.”

We walked toward the door to his room together, and opened the door to my new life. My life as Anon was over forever. I left everything behind for this, and never regretted it for a single second.

There we go! Hope you all liked the story. I felt compelled to write an epilogue, seeing as I felt that there was a few things I left unsaid. Unless I do get the drive to write a sequel, this is the last we'll see of Green Glass. It was a god damn fun ride.
