Anon Investigates
Epilogue
Previous ChapterThe last year had undoubtedly been the best year of my entire life. After finally accepting my body, I let in all of the friendships and happiness I had rejected before and was much better for it. I continued to hang out with the Cutie Mark Crusaders and grew closer as friends every day. I didn’t join them in all of their adventures, but I was happy to see them during school hours and to go places with them on weekends.
Twilight continued to search for a solution to my “problem”, but slowed down a lot as options grew thinner. I stopped calling her names, and instead, showed that I really was thankful for all that she had done for me.
Spike and I grew closer and closer as time went on. We still kept our relationship a secret from the others to keep Twilight from being angry at me, what with me being mentally twenty four and Spike only being technically fourteen. Regardless of the hurdles and hiding, we spent a lot of time together, reading books, going out to Sugarcube corner, and finding time alone to be with each other intimately.
Our lovemaking was a lot less frantic as it was the first time we had been together like that, but was equally as wonderful. Every time we made love, I felt my heart growing closer to the dragon and his growing closer to mine. Rarity was quite suspicious that his affection for her had so quickly died off, but seemed quite happy for him. It was a pretty pointless pursuit, and Spike confided in me that he was glad that Rarity had rejected him, saying that if Rarity had ever accepted, he would not be with me.
My acceptance for my new role in life was growing on me as well. I continued to solve disputes for ponies at Ponyville Primary, but the reduced stress of not running a business anymore took a huge load off of my back, and I focused much more on my own happiness. The rest of Twilight’s friends remained blissfully unaware of my previous identity, and whenever she spoke of me, she referred to me as a “second cousin” that she was taking in as a student and second assistant.
It wasn’t a complete lie though, as Twilight had helped me learn how to control my magic over the past year as well. I had a grasp on basic levitation and a few simple spells. It was honestly super damn cool to be able to do all of this magic stuff, things I’d never thought I’d ever be able to do.
I enjoyed helping Twilight with her studies and experiments as well, not only because it gave me a strange sense of accomplishment, but it also meant I got to spend more time around Spike, and we would quickly sneak a kiss whenever Twilight was out of the room.
All in all, I was happy. I had friends, family, a partner, and a home. Something that I had never had before.
__________
“Do you think we should… You know, tell Twilight?” Spike asked me one night when we were reading together.
“You mean about us, right? Not too sure how well she would react to that, what with her knowing about what I used to be.”
“Yeah, but you’re not that anymore. You’re a filly now.”
“I know, but that’s not how she see’s it. She see’s an adult human male stuck in the body of a little filly. I know what I am, but I know she doesn’t think of me like that.” I said glumly. Would Twilight ever understand? I had no idea. I wanted to continue on with my life, not live in the past.
Spike hugged me and stroked my mane. I always felt so relaxed when he held me like this.
“She has to realize that you’re not like you used to be. You’ve completely changed! You’re nicer, more open, more generous, and definitely more happy! I saw you before, and I can tell you now, I would not want to date you, even if I was attracted to you.”
I felt some tears drip down my face and I wiped them up. I was much more susceptible to emotion now, that was for sure.
Suddenly, the door slammed open and Twilight trotted in happily, with books floating behind her. Spike and I instinctively released from the hug, but looked back at each other afterwards with a pang of sadness that we couldn’t be openly together.
I looked at Twilight, seeing her approach me with a wide grin on her face.
“What’s with the creepy smile, Twi?”
“I have a surprise for you!” She smiled even wider.
“My birthday was last month, Twilight, and that party that the pink one threw me was insane enough. Please, no more surprises.”
“Trust me, I know you’ll like this one! Come with me and put this on.” She levitated a blindfold toward me and I grasped it with my own magic. I looked at Spike hesitantly and he shrugged.
I cautiously wrapped the blindfold around my head and yelped as I felt myself picked up in Twilight’s magic. I could hear her walking, and a few doors open and shut, before I felt myself placed down on a cold metal surface.
“Twilight?” I called out. “What’s going on?”
“Hold still!” She shouted out from what sounded like across the room before I felt a magical beam slam directly into my chest.
I began to panic as I felt my chest expanding, my legs growing, and something oddly familiar appear between my legs. I tried to shout out and move, but the spell was holding my muscles completely still. I felt my hooves stretch out and the sensation of touch return to the tips. I began to struggle as I finally realised what was happening to me.
She was turning me back into a human.
I tried my hardest to release myself from her magical grip but it did me no good as I felt the changes complete themselves and my blindfold fall off my face as the magic hold was released. I fell to my knees and looked down at my body.
I had fingers again. I had toes again. I glanced down between my legs, and there it was. My body was back.
No.
This wasn’t my body.
Tears began to rim my eyes as I realized exactly what had happened. Twilight had found a way to turn me back, but I didn’t want to turn back.
“G-glass…?” I heard a voice speak out nervously from behind me. I spun around and saw Spike, my amazing boyfriend, staring at me from behind a slightly open door, with a look of horror and betrayal in his eyes. I tried to call out to him, but he rushed off and I heard sobs coming from down the hall.
“A success! I hope you like having your old body back, Anon! It’s the least I could do for you after you helped me save Spike last year. Now you’ll be able to move back to your old house and start working again!”
“Twilight, you-”
“No need to thank me, Anon! I was looking in the completely wrong place for a transformation spell all this time! Looks like all I had to do was-”
“YOU IDIOT, TWILIGHT! YOU TOOK HIM FROM ME!” I broke down in sobs and fell to the floor, my mind filling with grief. I had lost Spike. I had lost my real body, and now Twilight wanted me to be unhappy again.
“Wh-what? What are you talking about!”
“I finally fucking accepted myself! I was finally happy!”
“You… You were happy as…”
“I finally had friends! You were my family!” The tears flowed freely now, my scrunched up face dripping wet with sadness. “YOU TOOK SPIKE FROM ME!”
“Spike? But you can still be friends, you’ll just be a human agai-”
“I LOVE HIM!”
…
“What?”
In desperation, I had just shouted out my deepest secret. There was no way Twilight would respect me now.
“I… We’re in love, Twilight.”
“In love!? You’re… You’re a human! A-and an ADULT!”
“No I’m not, Twilight! This version of me, the human me, is dead! Fucking dead!”
“I-I don’t understand.”
“I had accepted my life. I am not a human anymore, Twilight! I’m not Anon! I’m Green Glass! And I love Spike!”
“Anon…”
“I know what you’re going to say, Twilight. You’ll never see me again.” I tried to pull myself up to leave, but felt a magic aura holding me down.
“Look, I’m sorry, Twilight. I’ll stay away from Spike, just… Please…”
“No.”
I turned to her and saw a blank expression on her face.
“I know you hate me, Twi.” I said. “I’ll leave and I’ll never come back.”
I tried to pull myself back up again but I felt myself shoved into the floor by Twilights magic.
“Sit the buck down, Glass.”
“I’m… I’m not Glass anymore.”
“Yes you are. You said it yourself, Glass.” Her blank expression broke and a smile began to peak out. “You’re not Anon.”
“What are you talking about?”
“You know, I honestly never liked Anon anyway.”
A beam of light shot out and hit me in the chest once more. I felt my body tense up and be lifted into the air again. My limbs shrunk down and became dotted with fur once more. I looked around at my flank as my familiar cutie mark returned. My fingers and toes changed to hooves once more and my horn spiraled forward from my head.
The changes were done, and I looked down at myself once more.
My real self.
I rushed toward Twilight once more and threw my hooves around her, sobbing heavily into her withers.
“Th-th-thank y-you! Thank y-you so m-much, Twilight!”
She shushed me and brushed my mane with a hoof.
“No, Glass, you shouldn’t be thanking me. I… I tried to take your happiness away from you. I didn’t realize what I was doing.”
I continued to cry into her shoulder before eventually calming down a bit.
“Glass…” Twilight smiled at me. “I know you might think I think of you as creepy or something for falling in love with my brother, but… You really do seem like a different pony. Er, person. Whatever, but if Spike feels the same way about you that you feel about him, then who am I to take that from you?”
I smiled through the tears and wiped them from my face. Twilight smiled at me kindly and levitated a tissue over to me and dried what tears remained.
Suddenly, I remembered what had happened. Oh no! Spike had seen me as a human!
“T-twilight, I have to go! I have to find Spike!”
“What? What do you mean?”
“He saw me! When you turned me back into a human!”
She smiled at me and released me from the hug.
“Go get him, Glass.”
I nodded and ran toward the door. As I left, I heard Twilight call out from behind me.
“If you hurt him, I’ll banish you to the moon!”
__________
As I approached Spike’s room, I could hear quiet sobs coming from behind the door. As I knocked on it, the sobs stopped and I heard nothing.
“Spike?” I called out, hoping that my voice would comfort him.
“G-Glass? Is that you?”
I opened the door and found an extremely teary eyed Spike looking up from his bed, which was stained with tears.
“G-Glass!” He ran toward me and hugged me, crying in relief as he did.
“It’s me, Spike. I’m so sorry.”
“Wh-why?” Spiked sniffled out. “Why did you go back to being Anon? Was I not good enough for you?”
“Hey, she changed me back as a “surprise”, thinking it’s what I wanted.”
“So… You didn’t want to change back?”
“No! I have a new life now, and I am happy. I would never go back, especially without at least talking to you about it first.” I smiled warmly and placed a hoof on his cheek.
“Spike, I regret nothing about the decision I made. I decided to stay like this on my own, and it’s the best decision I’ve made.”
Spike lent forward and kissed me quickly. I could taste the tears that had dripped down onto his lips, but I didn’t care. I was happy like this. As he pulled away, he looked me up and down.
“So, wait, Twilight changed you back?”
“Well, yeah… I kinda freaked out and told her that we were in love…”
“You what!?” Spike gawked.
“Hey, hey! Calm down! She doesn’t disprove of it, okay? The whole time I was a human again, I was thinking of you. I was so angry at Twilight for possibly driving us apart that I just blurted it out.”
“R-really? She doesn’t think you’re a pervert?”
“Yes. Although, she did say she’d banish me to the moon if I ever hurt you, but I promise you that I never will.”
Spike chuckled and kissed me once more.
“Spike, I love you. I want… If it’s okay with you, I want to be open now. I don’t want to hide what we have anymore.”
“M-me neither, Glass.”
We walked toward the door to his room together, and opened the door to my new life. My life as Anon was over forever. I left everything behind for this, and never regretted it for a single second.
Author's Note
There we go! Hope you all liked the story. I felt compelled to write an epilogue, seeing as I felt that there was a few things I left unsaid. Unless I do get the drive to write a sequel, this is the last we'll see of Green Glass. It was a god damn fun ride.
