The Sun's Shadow
The rise of a nation
Load Full StoryA few years had past since defeat of Celestia's sister Nightmare Moon. Celestia had rebuild her castle onto a mountain side where she now reigns. Although peace will stand for the rest of her thousand year reign as she forms Equestria, there would be a challenge that Celestia would have to choose yet again. It all falls after once a mare falls for a royal guard.
Celestia was sitting in her meeting room planning with her advisories of current Equestrian events along with peace treaties with the surrounding nations. With her sister banished to the moon Equestria's power had weaken highly and nations if saw fit would invade for extra land. Suddenly a servant burst in surprising the Princess, her advisors and her four guards. "Me lady there's an army approaching" the servant said with fear in her eyes. "Is it the Griffons?" an advisor asked with worry. "No they're ponies, and the scouts believe that they're a thousand strong!" the mare informed. "Butt how?, the other city states can't have that much of an army?" another questioned. Then Celestia stood up with determination across her face "Prepare the guard, we'll meet them at the gate" she informed walking out of the meeting room.
All fifty four guards were rushed to the gates locking the doors and getting into position as the unknown force march up to the wall. The scouts had over speculated the amount of soldiers that the army had. In fact what was thought to be a thousand was really two hundred. Celestia was staring down upon the unknown military force waiting for the enemy to assault so she could once again fight to defend her people and her home. Then one of the soldiers approach the gate. He was wearing armor similar to that of her own guards, however it was of an ebony color. He looked upon Celestia with a stern face. "Princess Celestia of Equestria, we are the remnants of the other pony nation's armies, we have come to discuss annexation into your kingdom" he informed shocking the guards along with the Princess.
After a few moments of brief conversation between the two, the castle's gate open for the general of this army and his two captains. Once then brought forward to Celestia where she was now in the throne room looking down on them. The General and his men bowed before he spoke. "Princess Celestia the remaining Lords and their empires of Equestria wish to be united under your banner, and they sent most of their soldiers out here to join your army" he informed s they entered the throne room. "I do accept the offer for their Unification and the forming of the new military to defend Equestria, but what of you? You informed me like you wont be in the military any longer" she inquired. "Well your majesty, I'm to report back to the other nations of your decision also I'm much too old to continue in this carer" the old war hero explained. "However I'm leaving my two captains Wildfire and Lightaxe in charge, till you find a new general for the army" he replied as they looked behind them at the two captains.
Wild and Light were very different, Wild was stern with blue eyes and Light had a crimson color; which was in awe with the marble castle known as Canterlot. While Wild was a colt with an orange and red mane, Light had a dark brown. Their coats were just as different Light's coat was white, and Wild's was a dark grey. The only resemblance was that they were unicorns. "I will certainly find a General out of the two of them, however there is some questions I wish to discus about still" Celestia said turning her attention to the General. The General looked at her with slight wonder escaping his serious face. "Yes of course I'll answer them the best I can your majesty" he informed. "General once we unify we will need to rewrite the laws would we not?" she questioned. "Well actually we would, just need to keep the basic pony rights along with laws to keep order" Light interrupted before the general could speak.
The General started to heat up but kept his cool in front of the princess. "Well I suppose that does make sense, but what will be of the other royal families, Sir Light" Celestia inquired with a calm yet peaceful tone. The General and Wildfire both looked at the princess before turning to face Light. Light rubbed his chin before his eyes widen. "Technically they could still keep some of their nobility and serve as representatives for the new found nation, till you find a replacements latter on. Mainly for nations that are already on good terms with them" he informed with a smile. The General and Wildfire then looked upon the princess waiting for her response. She was in deep thought processing the suggestion and it's every detail. "That is a brilliant Idea thank you Lightaxe" she said sweetly with a grin.
LIghtaxe's cheeks went a noticeable pink, he smiled despite knowing that he shouldn't have talked. Celestia giggled quietly seeing that she had embarrassed the young stallion. "Well I, should get going" the general informed before bowing to the princess. As he passed his captains he asked "Please don't do anything stupid you two" looking from Wildfire and pausing at Lightaxe before leaving the room. They stood there waiting for their orders from their new princess. "You are dismissed ill have someone inform both of you and your men their quarter in a minuet" the princess informed looking at her document writing down what Lightaxe had suggested.
Once they left Celestia looked outside one of the blank clear windows, it was almost time for the moon to rise. She exited the room and made her way to the balcony and rose the moon and lowered the sun all at once nearly tiring her. She thought about Luna on the balcony each day since she banished her in the moon. "Oh, Luna today I met someone who reminded me of you today. His eyes reminded me of you, it had that special sparkle in his eye the same as you. His name is Lightaxe" she exclaimed to the moon hoping her sister would hear her, like how she hoped her sister would be cured upon returning someday.
