Fallout: Equstria - Stalliongrad
Introduction
Load Full StoryOnce Upon a Time...
...In the frozen lands to Equestria's north...
If one were to take the two days trek north of the Vanhoover Tundra, they will come across the Frost Peaks. Back in the day, these peaks stretched all the way into the skies, acting as an imposing barrier between Equestria and the frozen northern territories. Nowadays, these peaks have been worn down due to radiation blizzards and violent winds, reduced to nothing but jagged hills. Because of this, the harsher weather has spilled into the rest of the Equestrian Wasteland.
However, the Frost Peaks not only contained the driving winds of Winter, they also concealed a city of steel. You see my friends, there is a city that is no longer marked on the maps of the Wasteland, hidden away by snow covered valleys and howling winds. During the War, this city was the heart of the Equestrian manufacturing centers. While Hoofington may have been the heart for weapons research and development, it has nothing on this city.
The name of the city? While it's name may have been lost to the pages of myth and lore, it still stands strong in those stories. You see my friends, this city was once known as Stalliongrad.
Yes, Stalliongrad; the City of Steel. The Red City. The Fortress of Winter. The Gate, whatever you know it as. Two-hundred years ago, Stalliongrad produced the finest war machines ever designed by pony kind. Tanks, aircraft designed for use by earth ponies, and the strongest ships to come out of any naval yard.
The drawback to this magnificence? Stalliongrad became a natural target for the Zebra forces assaulting Equestria to the northwest. If Stalliongrad were to ever fall, not only would the Zebras gain a massive boost to their resources, but they would also gain a vital hoofhold in the territory.
Thankfully, no such occurrence happened, for the citizens of Stalliongrad and her surrounding territories laid their lives on the line in defense of their home. Their hatred for the Zebras kept them warm in the winter. Their ruthlessness kept the Zebras awake at night, alert for the Cry of Stalliongrad that would signal their end. For nearly ten years, Stalliongrad stood strong. For nearly ten years, countless ponies and zebras were lost to the fighting.
Then, in a flash of green, the Ten Year Skirmish was brought to a fiery end.
Not much is known of what happened to Stalliongrad in the two-hundred year period since the Final Day, records weren't exactly kept during those turbulent times. But, those who were trapped within the city when balefire scorched their homes remember the struggle of adapting to the destruction and surviving on the brink of annihilation.
You see my friends, the residents of Post-Apocalypse Stalliongrad aren't exactly what we call... "normal". Remember those trapped in Canterlot when the missiles fell? The same fate dropped on those trapped in Stalliongrad. Those who weren't killed in the fighting were killed by the blast, then resurrected by foul magics and heavy radiation. Many were driven to suicide, unable to live with what had become of them. Others simply accepted their new lives and rallied together.
Then you have the ones trapped within their memories. For these poor souls, a reaction within the resurrection process did not occur, thus setting their memories on a repeated loop, acting out their final moments for eternity within the rubble strewn streets of Stalliongrad. Though these souls are scattered around the city, they still pose a threat to those who currently live behind a wall of scrap and relics of the war. It is here where a ghoul named Wire Tap lives.
Oh, I forgot to mention my name, didn't I? Well my friends, I am Wire Tap, son of Rotary and Dial-Up. During the war, my mother, Dial-Up, was a communications operator for the Northern Red Army. My father, Rotary, was killed on the first day of combat when the Zebras attacked the city. I live within the Safe Zone, a place where the sane ghouls of Stalliongrad live and try to prosper in the ruins. I ask you to sit and listen to my tale, it's a pretty wild ride.
The start of this adventure? Well, it all started with a little filly...
